I can't wait any longer! ~UPDATE 5/25 I'm back!

It's so good to hear that your event went well! I don't watch Game of Thrones but that sounds like such a cool experience! And of course, your dress is just perfect!

I like your FP+ selections! I've never done Mission Space but I think I would totally be green all the way! Soarin' is my favorite ride at Epcot so I love that you have 3 FP+ for it!

Do you have any plans for the 24-hour event? Is that at the end of your trip?

Thank you!!! :goodvibes It really was such a cool experience! Not one I'm anxious to repeat any time soon though :rotfl:But meeting the band and trailing them all night was a once in a lifetime experience for sure! :thumbsup2

Thanks! I'm really pleased with my selections! Yeah, I learned the hard way that the Orange side is NOT for me! :scared1: Glad to have another Soarin' mega-fan along! I'm just obsessed! I could ride it all day long without breaking!

Yes! I will definitely be at the 24 hour event! What luck it's falling within my vacation! :goodvibes And I'm also happy that it's at the tail end of my trip so I don't completely wreck myself right out of the gate!

Oh my DH would go nuts. He loves Game of Thrones. I've watched a few here and there but haven't caught on yet.
I love your FP+ selections, I'm still learning about these. I didn't realize there were different categories for them. Such a newbie moment. Lol=)
DH takes Ondansetron for his nausea. I think it has a sleep side effect as well but he can fall asleep anywhere anytime so he's not a good judge on that one. Can't wait to keep reading.

I need to get with it and watch the show! I've heard great things about it but haven't yet seen even one episode! :sad2: And now that I "know" the band (;)), it makes me want to see what all the hype is about even more!

Thank you! Yep, there are two tiers for both Epcot and DHS, you choose one ride/attraction in Tier 1 and two for Tier 2. I always have a list of priorities before my FP window opens up to make the process less overwhelming. Once you go to do this online, MDE walks you right through it and makes it super easy! :thumbsup2 But I always find I'm a little anxious anyway only because it's both exciting AND a little nerve-wracking because I want to be sure I get everything I want and when I want it! :rotfl:

Thanks so much for the tip on the Ondansetron - I'll look into that! :thumbsup2

Hey Tracey First of all, the band you got to experience looked so cool! My friend loves Games of Thrones, so this would excite here! And your dress was gorgeous! :goodvibes I love it!!!

You have made some awesome FP+ choices! I love Soarin as well! I felt the same way during planning, once I made my FP+ choices, I felt the trip didn't seem as far away anymore!

Well shoot! It looks like you are arriving on the day we are leaving!

Favorite park: Magic Kingdom - nothing says Disney like MK
Favorite ride: Peoplemover tied with Soarin'
Favorite character: FIGMENT! with Stitch as a close second
Favorite Disney restaurant(s): Whispering Canyon (dinner), Ohana's (dinner), Tusker House (breakfast)...I will stop there, but the list could go on for a long time.

I am with you on the Disney smells and music loops. I love Scorcerer Radio on Live365.

Looking forward to reading more about your trip!

Lynn

You looked AMAZING at the event! Woooo! Hubba hubba! :cutie: My first thought was "This girl is gorgeous, how is she single?!" :p

I love love love your itinerary! I'm big Soarin' fan, so I feel ya girl. It's the best! :thumbsup2

Okay, I read your first two updates but never posted for some reason. But i'm officially caught up now!

I think there’s just something about the freedom to do whatever you want, whenever you want that makes solo tripping especially fun for me. Also, I’m a very fast-paced Disney traveler. Some might even call me – gasp! – a commando style one.

I've always thought it would be so much fun to go to WDW solo! And if I really had it my way, our schedule would be commando as well:thumbsup2

t’s just that I always want to make the most of my Disney trips and infinite hours of lolly-gagging around just isn’t my style.

Yes!! :worship:

Where: Pop Century Resort [and Spa]

:rotfl:

I went round and round (for a whole 3 minutes) about whether or not I wanted to purchase the dining plan.

:lmao:

even made the CNN headlines!

Really?! What happened?

"99 days to go!" Double digits!

Triple digits suck. Double digits are awesome, but single is INCREDIBLE!

I have an entire bookcase in my apartment devoted to Walt biographies and other related books

Any recommendations? I have already ready Walt Disney: An American Original :)

If you're reading this, you get it. You know exactly what I mean and if you haven't yet taken that first trip... you'll know it soon enough!

:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

Totally got this shot on our trip.

Favorite Character: Belle

Love Belle! I was obsessed with her when I was younger. Probably because I 'looked' similar to her than any of the other Disney princesses.

Now, I'd like to take a page out of Wendy's (teekathepony) book and ask you what yours are:
Favorite park(s)
Favorite ride(s)
Favorite character(s)
Favorite Disney restaurant(s)

Ooh this is tough, but i'll keep my answers to one.

Favorite Park: Epcot
Favorite Ride: People Mover
Favorite Character: Jack Skellington
Favorite Disney Restaurant: I have to give three answers here. Have to! Signature - Artist Point, Table Service - Sci Fi, Quick Service Yak & Yeti

I put $50 into a vacation account yesterday that's not even for my May trip!

Mind you I have nothing in the works for my next trip (the one after this one) but I can't help but think that I really want to try to swing a fall trip soonish... could I pinch some pennies and go again this fall?! I'm not sure but... either way, I have $50 started for a future trip... whenever that might be ;) The motivating force behind this idea (besides the obvious ) is that I still have my $200 voucher from USAir to use before it expires. I can't possibly not put it to good use, right?!

Love saving for future trips! Awesome!

Perfect! :worship: And you resemble her as well!

Option #2: Thursday, May 21 @ 11:55am
Pros: I'll already be at MK that morning; this was originally my first choice for day
Cons: The timing might interfere with my to-be-determined FP+ times AND I have another ADR that evening at Sci-Fi (do I really want my only two ADRs to be on the same day? Does it matter?)

I know you already chose, but definitely this option. Number 3 sounded too rushed.:thumbsup2

Therefore, I did what any good Diser would do:
1) Print out Flower and Garden Festival Outdoor Kitchens menus
2) Go through said menus multiple times and select MUST dos (or must eats, if you prefer)
3) Go to Disney Food Blog and obsess over pictures
4) Repeat steps 2 and 3 as often as desired

You got the DIS seal of approval from me :thumbsup2

My flight gets into MCO at 10:45am so even after doing the whole DME, check-in to Pop, catch a bus to Epcot, etc., etc. thing, I still anticipate having a good chunk of the day to spend at Epcot.

I think you'll have a good chunk of time to get things done (and get things eaten!) over at Epcot with that arrival time.

hursday I worked 18 hours, Friday 16.5, but yesterday was a very relaxing day at only 8

:faint: Wow what a crazy weekend!

Any Game of Thrones fans out there?

YES! :hyper:

Pretty dress!

How cool is that?!

12:50-1:50pm: Kilimanjaro Safaris (side note: many of you will NOT believe this. I have never done this attraction. I know, I know, shame on me. As part of my plan to spend more quality time at AK, I'm making sure I do lots of things I don't typically do... this being one of them).

You must not skip this! It really is so much fun. And who knows, maybe you'll get to see the Lions in motion!

Side note: any fellow motion-sickness sufferers reading? I've tried Scopolamine before but got vertigo shortly thereafter and was worried it was related and haven't tried since, though it was effective. Dramamine tends to make me drowsy (even the non-drowsy kind) and loopy (more than is typical ;)) so that doesn't thrill me either. Any helpful hints would be welcome!

When DH got Vertigo, the doctor told him to take Bonine (over the counter). Not sure if that makes you drowsy though. He was sleeping a lot but not sure if it was from the medication or because he wasn't feeling well and slept anyway.

*this is also the day that I decided to go to Be Our Guest! So I have that reservation at 11:55am (I finally cancelled my other two “accidental” ADRs there just this morning); incidentally, I have my second (and final) ADR this same evening at Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater, but not until 8:20pm so I’ll have plenty of time to work up another appetite!

Yay!

I decided that I’d use Single Rider at the rides I could rather than use FP+s for those attractions. As a solo traveler, that should be easy enough to do!

Totally, use that SR like a boss!

I agree!! I love that I still haven't done a few things in each park, or stayed st all the resorts! Makes it all that much more anticipated and me more excited :)

I was reading about BoG breakfast and I'm stoked to try it on our vacation! We've tried lunch and dinner there before-excellent!!

It really was SO much fun and so exciting to be a part of! Thanks!!! I can't even imagine the high I'd have been on if I was actually a Game of Thrones fan! I love that dress too :goodvibes

Thanks! I love how my FPs worked out! Yay for another Soarin' lover! :thumbsup2

Darn it, Lynn! I'm just missing SO many people on my trip. :sad2: I'll have to coordinate better for my next one! ;)

I completely agree: nothing says Disney like MK! :thumbsup2 I also completely support your love of the Peoplemover! And obviously Soarin'! I really want to try Whispering Canyon, I've heard so many rave reviews from there!

OMG! I'm always on Live365! It's what gets me in between trips (well that and these boards, of course!) :goodvibes

You looked AMAZING at the event! Woooo! Hubba hubba! :cutie: My first thought was "This girl is gorgeous, how is she single?!" :p

I love love love your itinerary! I'm big Soarin' fan, so I feel ya girl. It's the best! :thumbsup2

Awww, thanks!!! That is SO SO sweet of you to say! :goodvibes

Thanks!!! I'm pretty much lovin' on my itinerary as well  Glad to have a fellow Soarin' fan along with me as well! It really IS the best! My first solo trip back in 2006 was my first time on it and I waited with a very, very sore heel (I had fractured it and was still recovering) for 70 minutes to ride it my first night and it was worth every single one! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I've always thought it would be so much fun to go to WDW solo! And if I really had it my way, our schedule would be commando as well:thumbsup2

:thumbsup2Ya know, Alicia, based on this comment and many others I've read from you, I think we'd be fast friends!

Really?! What happened?

We were about 1.5 hours into our flight and it was announced that someone was having a medical emergency and we needed to divert to Dublin. I felt so awful for this "person". Come to find out, there was no medical emergency, rather it was some kind of gas leak and they didn't want to panic the whole plane. In their defense, USAir handled it beautifully. We got put up in a beautiful hotel overnight and they arranged everything... and a voucher doesn't hurt matters either!

Triple digits suck. Double digits are awesome, but single is INCREDIBLE!

Agreed!!!

Any recommendations? I have already ready Walt Disney: An American Original :)

My favorite is "How to be like Walt: Capturing the Disney magic every day of your life" by Pat Williams. It's beyond a biography, it was amazing!!!

Love Belle! I was obsessed with her when I was younger. Probably because I 'looked' similar to her than any of the other Disney princesses.

I was also obsessed with her when I was younger! Come to think of it... I wonder if she got so far into my subconscious that I went into the library field? :rotfl:

Good! Your opinion goes a long way here on these boards! :thumbsup2

Pretty dress!

Thank you!!! :goodvibes

I promise I won't this time! Seeing the lions would be amazing!

Thanks, Alicia. Here you are coming on the boards to forget about the vertigo situation and I go mentioning it! Just know that I'm thinking so much of you and your DH right now and hoping that the MRI today will show a very healthy head with a very small, easily fixable issue. Lots of  to you. And thank you for that recommendation, I'll definitely look into that.

Totally, use that SR like a boss!

Challenge accepted! ;)

Exactly!!! There's always something new to explore at Disney, no matter how many times you've been! :cloud9:

I'm very intrigued about the BoG breakfast as well! But I guess I'll first work on going their for lunch!

So - I'm sure I still not completely caught up, but I'm getting there.

Yay for FP's. It's always good to have those locked in. I'm wondering how I am going to handle that for my kids this summer. I know we will probably be on a completely different schedule, but I'll still get something on paper for them and then they can change their own.

Smart girl - getting all your F&G treats picked out ahead of time. I missed the kiosks this past trip, but my wallet didn't....

Your job sounds pretty cool. Love your dress.

Ahh, yes - Game of Thrones. My son started to get me addicted to that series while he was home for Christmas. It is rather addictive.

Thanks, Mary Ellen! I'm so happy to have my FPs squared away! Not only does it take some pressure off but it makes the trip now seem so much closer! :goodvibes

Yep, given that I have very little time with the F&G outdoor kitchens, I figured I better come prepared! Gotta make my limited time count... and also gotta be strategic! Good thing I have a healthy appetite! ;) I hear ya on the wallet aspect though!

Thanks so much! I do love that dress myself... I remember getting it on sale too, so even better! :thumbsup2

I really need to get started on Game of Thrones, it sounds like a series I'd love, plus I already know I'll love the music ;)

Love your dress for the night, so pretty! And very cool that you got to meet the band.
Your itinerary sounds really good! I love getting to the point where everything's planned out!

Thanks, Wendy! Meeting that band was so cool! I created a slide show for a big all-staff meeting this morning and may or may not have included a picture of me with the band in it... :rolleyes1

I love this part of the pre-trip planning... it's SO close and most of the heavy work is done... it's just time for drooling over menus and thinking of packing lists! :lovestruc

Slowly going around trying to catch up on my threads. I'm so glad you haven't done an update. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: So I'll just say hi. :)

Hi Kathy!!! :rotfl: I can SO relate to the whole "so glad you haven't done an update" feeling! I, too, have been trying to catch up! I have one amazing reason for falling behind and one bad reason and they were back to back - birth of my niece! :lovestruc And then I got the stomach bug  I'll be sure to post about it all soon! (well, the niece part, I'll spare you of the stomach bug recap ). I hope you had a wonderful trip! :goodvibes

You looked so pretty at your event, your dress was perfect!

Your FP's sound great, and trust me, I know all about the Soarin' love, I think I have Soarin FP's 3 times for my trip too! It's just necessary! :thumbsup2

Awww, thanks so much, Jen!!! It's nice to have an occasion to get all dressed up every once in a while! :thumbsup2

Yay for you getting 3 Soarin' FPs as well! I just can't get enough!!! I'm sure I'll be found in the stand-by line for that ride a few times as well... Too much of that ride just isn't possible. Wow, I can't believe tomorrow you'll be only at 3+ weeks until your trip!!! :hyper:

Happy Easter!!!

Easter.png

I hope you all had a great weekend with family and friends whether you celebrate Easter or not. :goodvibes

I had a wonderful weekend celebrating the holiday with my nephew, my 8 day old niece, and the rest of my family.
Last weekend, I helped to welcome Gianna into the world. She's a beautiful little girl already showered with so much love. :grouphug: My poor sister got the stomach bug (via my nephew via daycare) and went into labor about 3 weeks early. Both baby and mom are happy and healthy now though!
And, as a result of me watching my nephew last weekend, I got the stomach bug too earlier last week. :faint: I give my sister all the credit in the world as she not only dealt with that joy, but also birthed a child in the process! She's amazing, let me tell you.

Anyway, I think I've been slowly catching up on everyone's TRs and PTRs but you now know the reason for the delay!

I'll have a Disney related update soon! In the meantime... see ya real soon!

Happy Easter; sorry to hear you got the bug. It's been a nasty bug season.
