I only go to WDW with my mom! My DH doesn't care for WDW so I leave him home! I take my mom and my youngest DD. We go twice a year and have a blast. I couldn't care less if someone thinks I'm a loser because I take my mom!

I do the same thing! My mom and I go at least once or twice a year together and we have a blast. Sometimes we take others with us, but it is usually just mom and me on our spring trip. She really looks forward to it and always tells me she can't wait to hit the margarita bar at EPCOT!:
BTW, I am 41 and mom is 70, so if someone thinks I am loser, too bad, I could care less too.

It's always the same bunch who are hateful and jealous, so they will flame you and pick on you, me and many others. They often get banned and reappear with new names. Like cockroaches, they are a pain and hard to get rid of. And they will try to twist things around to make *their* flaming YOUR fault! I've been on the DIS since 1999. I'm pretty much immune to them at this point.
Don't sweat it. They are not worth getting upset over.

By the way, people teased you as a kid because of your looks? From those photos, it's hard to imagine (but I believe what you say). There's ugly ducklings who become swans, looks like you are one of them!

For the record, I didn't go to WDW until I was 16, and I went with my mom who was then 40, and my grandmom who was 62. Then I went back much later with my grandmother who was 78, and I went to Disneyland with my uncle who was 50. Disney is for all ages, isn't that what Walt intended?

I never turn my computer off (only if a problem should occur) and there will be days or weeks that I don't close the window.

Sometimes we all need to take a break. I think some people sitting at home typing on the computer just don't think alot about what they are saying. It is fairly anonymous and they say things without that "self filter" that we all need. I started a thread on another board, just asking for info about airports and checking in since I haven't flown since summer 2001 and things have changed alot. I got a really sarcastic answer implying I was an idiot. I just ignored him and went on about my day. As far as going to WDW with your mother, I think that is great. If my mother were still here, I would love to go to WDW with her and I am alot older than you! Take some time off but please come back and visit.

Nothing wrong with going to Disney with your Mom..for some that is something that we don't have the option for anymore...

I don't consider myself thin skinned or oversensitive, and I don't like to be made fun of either. I don't know many people who do. Its no fun to feel ganged up on, even on Internet bulletin boards. I can understand the need to take a break from that. Good luck.

Put those who try to make you feel awful, or who make fun of you on the DIS on ignore, then do whatever it is you want to do ... take a break or post. You can't change how other people behave, but you can change how you react to them and you can change your DIS experience by putting those who do this to you on ignore. Ignoring them makes them even more active at first, then they'll move on to someone new because you aren't generating fun for them anymore.

You said everyone here hates you. The people on this board that do that sort of thing to other posters are like what? Ten people maybe at the most? You do realize that 10 is a very tiny minority of posters, right? That's not even a drop in the bucket of the amount of people on the CB or the DIS, so that statement isn't correct!

I couldn't give a hoot if some of the sad and sick minds here on the DIS has something to "say" about me. If someone points a finger at you there are THREE pointing back at them... consider the source.

The real world and the internet is full of bullies. The big difference is they can now do it anonymously. I consider that the highest form of cowardice.

I've taught my son that you can change nothing but your reaction to people... it's the only thing you're in control of. Anonymous idiots should not define who YOU are.

BTW, I was planning a trip to Disney with my Mom when she was diagnosed with cancer. She died three weeks later. I never got the chance and it hurts me to this day.

That's me, lights on but nobody home !!!! That's how I feel today after one DD's college graduation, another DD's HS prom, and a church play that lasted 2 1/2 hours !!!!!!
