I can't seem to get DING to work - any tips?

I seemed to have downloaded it ok....but my icon has a red exclamation point on it. When I click on it, it says "communication error". What do I need to do so that I have access? Please speak to me in "computer dummy" English Thanks for any help!

Since I'm another "computer-challenged" person, the only solution that I have come up with for the same problem is to uninstall it and then reinstall it.
I have no idea why this works, it just does!

I am having the same experience. I haven't figured out how to work around it just yet, but I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the firewalls, etc. that are on my computer. There is a way to install it around these programs, I still have to figure it out. That might be what is happening to you.

If you have the exclamation mark, right click on the icon and select "connect now". The exclamation mark should disappear and if a deal is available, it show up pretty quick. A problem I have is when my laptop comes out of standby mode is that the icon disappears. To fix this hit CTRL, ALT , and DEL buttons at the same time. This brings up the task manager and select the processes tab. Select "Ding.exe" and hit End Process button. Re-launch the ding program and all should be OK. This is Windows XP.

People who don't have this happen must have installed it right... or maybe they're just lucky. I have to follow the steps below just about every day.

If you have the little "DING" icon on the toolbar at the bottom of the page, I just right click on it, hit EXIT. I then go to the "DING" icon on my desktop and double click it. The icon reappears in the toolbar, and if there's a sale being offered, the little envelope will eventually appear and I'm on my way.

It's tedious to do all the time, but whatever works.....
