I Can't, I'm Not Wearing a Princess Dress! - New TR link!!!!

Things are progressing well. The older kids got to hold him yesterday.

Awww... and such a great pic!

DD had been looking forward to holding him since he was born. She got him in her arms, he coughed and I've never seen her move so fast. She thought she was going to get spit up on and she was out of there before we could even get a picture.

:lmao:

I've been away fro too long! I'm in tears, joyous tears, over these photos and the news that the new baby is doing so well.

I'm glad to see he was able to meet his siblings, even if DD was scared of being spit up on (my DH was scared of the very same thing so...).

I hope things stay on the up and up! SUPER happy for you guys! :grouphug:

Happy to read your baby is doing well and progressing! Your baby looks better and stronger with each picture. He's a fighter!

This just made me incredibly glad. Great picture.

Playing catch up and I'm sitting here with happy tears in my eyes! What a little fighter! He is doing so well. Love the pic with his big brother!

Ok... this week has been crazy. A lot of progress at the hospital and I've started going back to work. I've been leaving early to go to the hospital so not quite full days but enough to have me dragging after 3 full weeks of doing nothing but sitting around hospitals. I'm sitting by his bed now and things have come a long way really quick.

He's no longer receiving forced oxygen. They took him off a vapotherm machine yesterday but are still giving him some oxygen to help with desats. He's doing great though. I came in this morning and he'd pulled the tape off and had it completely out of his nose and everything was fine.

He's no longer got a picc line in. Everything they're giving him now can be given "orally" so he's getting it through his feeding tube. His feeding tube was moved from his intestine into his stomach Thursday. He handled it pretty well but just had a massive spit up this morning. This is going to probably be a long process to get him to eat like a normal baby. They want him to start trying to latch on every few hours when they start the feeding just to get him used to going through the motions. He's done it a couple of times but doesn't seem to want to stay on. They are happy with just that little bit of progress already.

Today he is one month old.

Quite frankly, we're blown away by where he is today. Some of the things that have happened the past couple of weeks shouldn't have happened yet. Especially after a week and a half setback while he was on ECMO. Omean he could possibly be off oxygen altogether in a few days if all goes well.

There are still plenty of hurdles to cross but we certainly feel like now there is no question that it is a matter of when and not a matter of if.

Thank you all for hanging in here with me and I hope to be back soon!

He looks fantastic! I mentioned in a month you would be worrying about getting him to feed! He is ahead of schedule for sure. An over achiever! And an adorable one at that! So happy for you and your family

Going back to work must give you very mixed feelings.
There's probably a sense of relief that you can stop worrying about him for a bit.... combined with... worrying about him because you're at work.

And don't say "nothing but sitting around hospitals" like it's an easy thing to do. That's an emotional rollercoaster you've been on and that can be far more tiring/draining than physical work. Of course you're dragging.

He's doing great though. I came in this morning and he'd pulled the tape off and had it completely out of his nose and everything was fine.

 Stubborn little guy!

The term "baby steps" comes to mind. But... always progress it seems.
I'm no doctor (or nurse... or... anything in the medical field) but this seems like a big step and a very positive one.

Today he is one month old.

Happy 1 month birthday!

Excellent!

So that's what that huge sigh of relief I heard the other day was all about.

Thank you all for hanging in here with me and I hope to be back soon!

 Thanks for keeping us updated Andy!

Good looking boy right there.
Obviously takes after Mom.

Back home and all caught up! He looks great. I'm sure you must be exhausted after a month of the hospital, all those ups and downs and then going back to what you want to be a normal life.

Sounds like he is coming along brilliantly and so nice that his brother and sister are getting to spend some time with their new baby brother.

I'm sitting by his bed now and things have come a long way really quick.

That is such great news! He has come so far, and made so many unbelievable improvements already! Good job, Ryder!

Today he is one month old.

That too, is pretty unbelievable. How did this last month go by so quickly?!

The adorbs factor is off the meter here.

He is such a cute little baby Andy! And what a fighter!

I'm so glad things are going well for him and your family.

Best wishes!

One month old already? How did that happen?

It sounds like he's doing remarkably well. What a fighter the little guy is! Praying for more progress every day!
