I just got contact lenses this past Wednesday... 2 days ago. While at the eye doctor's office I had NO problem putting them in myself. Yesterday I had a little trouble with one of them. Now today I can't get either of them in!!!

Any hints or suggestions????

Are they soft lenses? If so, you might have them inside out. Mine have little numbers on them that should read right if you look at them from the outside, and backwards if you look at them from the inside.

Relax! :)

My sons both have contacts (ages 12 and 14). The 12 year old just has masted putting them in after about a month. He said his mistake was just trying to "jam them in".

He puts the lens just under his bottom lid and then pulls his top one over.

Good luck!

edited to add.... this post is not meant to be condescending in any way - I am in my mid 30's and if I ever get contacts it will probably take me a year or two to learn to get them in correctly. I can put them in others' eyes, but my own would be a different story!!!!

RELAX. Try to just calm down and take your time, you will get the hang of it. I remember those early days with contacts, just relax!

it just take practice!!! I have had contacts for about 15 yrs. and somedays it is still hard for me to get mine in.

If you got them in yesterday with "little trouble" I'm impressed! I've had mine for 16 years or so, but the first few days after getting them, it took me hours to get them in! Be patient, you'll get the hang of it!

When I first got mine I was having to get up 20 minutes earlier in the morning to get the things in. Now, I just pop em in and go.

You'll get the hang of it. It just takes some practice.

I had such a hard time when I first got them and wanted to give up! One time I even tried laying down and making my DH try to put them in but I kept flinching! You will get the hang of it though.... I use my pointer finger to gently hold my top lashes back and my middle finger to pull the bottom lid downward. I concentrate on looking at my eye in the mirror instead of looking at the finger coming towards my eye!

Take your time and don't worry about it being hard right now. It is incredibly hard at first! Be sure to kind of put them over the bottom of your eye and slide them up. It helped me if they weren't aimed right at my pupil.

You'll get the hang of it given time.

I've been wearing hard contact lenses for around 33 years! How well I remeber trying to get them in right! The eye doctor said that teenagers usually caught on the quickest since they really don't want to wear glasses!

Don't worry! Relax - leave it for a 1/2 hour or so and go back to it. Try to put them in every day - you only get the "hang" of it if you put them in every day. If you really need help, call the eye doctor's and ask if you can come in for another tutorial!
