We have always stayed deluxe and DVC but do to my DS school band playing in Disney we are looking to add an extra trip in 2014! We're thinking mod because of cost (especially spring break prices) and there will only be three of us. I just can't decide! I know everyone has an opinion of their favorites but I'm looking for a little feedback. My first instinct says Port Orleans. I thought I'd like FQ because of size and theme but after looking at pics online I feel more drawn to the room décor of Riverside. Are they really that different? Should I be considering a different mod? We'll most likely rent a car so transportation isn't an issue and DD is 10. Thoughts?

I would go with Port Orleans – Riverside. In my opinion it features the most lush and stunning landscaping of any of the Moderates, with many meandering walking paths. It also offers carriage rides, bike rentals, a marina with watercraft rentals, and boat service to Downtown Disney (1st to board).

Agree with PO Riverside. Been twice, once long ago, once last year, great both times. Although the Pod Squad recently reviewed Coronado Springs and liked it very much...

I love POR its a beautiful resort, imo its far prettier than FQ. My family and I always stay in the AB section. POR is bigger than FQ but we always get the preferred room which puts us very close to the main building and big pool. But like the pp said pod squad just gave very good reviews to csr. thats my sisters favorite, she says it is equally as beautiful as POR. You cant go wrong with either one.

I would choose CSR. More deluxe amenities and they also have club level now.

My favorite is the French Quarter. I like the smaller size. We also like Riverside but would pick French Quarter first. You cannot go wrong with either. Make sure you see Yeehaw Bob in the lounge at Riverside, he puts on a great family friendly show.

Been to POR back when it was Dixie Landings and after one night asked to be moved, total moldy tub/shower and resort to huge to be located conveniently to anything....

Our last 2 trips and future October trip are at POFQ, compact resort, nice theme and very quiet,,,,,we can always venture to POR and use the pool a few days, FOOD courts are similar, ate at Boatwrights once, awful, never to return, YeeHaw Bob was a joke... prefer Elliot Dyson in Scat Cat Club....

On one trip our bus out to a park stopped at every bus station in POR, LIKE 5 stops so you can gauge the size and bus filling for yourself... POFQ always gets picked up first.....

We to we're deluxe people but taking 3 trips a year, we cut down on the deluxe and akin POFQ to deluxe....POFQ will not be a sorry resort...

Our fav is Por Riverside. Love the mansion section. Theming and landscaping is beautiful. Love the pool, and option of quiet pools too, great food court. Pasta bar is so good. Fun evening entertainment too. And boat to DTD!

We typically stay deluxe and DVC as well, and I would only really consider CSR. The other mods look too motel-ish to me. I'm not a fan of bedspreads. The 'business club' level might be a good option for you. It isn't a true CL, but does give you light breakfast + drinks and snacks at night. Also a better location.

With DD10 I would look at POR Royal Guest Rooms. Even my grown DD loved them. They are fairly new (we stayed in Sept) and beautifully done. Their location is not far from the main hub so an easy walk.

Our favorite is CSR with POR second. We call CSR "the deluxe of the moderates". The rooms are beautifully appointed and resort is beautiful, stunning at night around the lake. If you look at pics of CSR you will see a large pool with a very long slide that is fun even for adults. I think because it is a convention resort and those folks are busy the pool, pool chairs and buses are rarely crowded.

We have stayed at CBR, CSR and PO-R and have enjoyed all three. We haven't stayed at PO-FQ so can't really comment on it. My thoughts would be that it would be a more compact resort which would have its advantages.

All three of the mods we have stayed at are beautiful. They all three have nice main pools. They all three have private pools as well. This is a big plus for us because we usually swim every day and like to have that option.

The food court at POR is far away the best of the moderates. None of the table service will blow anyone away, but there are plenty of other table service options available.

CSR does have the spa and fitness center which can be a plus.

Two things we didn't like at CSR is that the room ony had one sink. That may not be an issue for everyone, but wanted to point it out. We were OK with the food court, but didn't like the tip set up. The only service we got for that was drink refills and we usually had to get thouse ourselves too.

The rooms at CBR are a little bit bigger than the other mods but they don't have the queen beds yet.

We have enjoyed all three of the mods that we stayed at and we wouldn't heistate to stay at any of them.

x2!! This exactly. Love the theme at POR. Grounds are stunning! Mansions are beautiful. Love the pool and the quiet pool too. The food court is great, love the pasta bar. Love that there are bike rentals at POR. Also I like the fact that POR is the first boat pickup to DTD. POFQ is 2nd pickup. Often I notice they only take a few passengers at POFQ cause the boat is so full.

POFQ is our favorite Moderate for sure.... :dance3:

I love POFQ, but it's the only Mod I've stayed at. When I made the decision, it was after doing a lot of reading and looking at photos/video, and in the end it came down to 1) the size and 2) just what appealed to me personally (I think POFQ is pretty and charming).

My advice is think about your tastes and priorities, look at the options, and go with what appeals to you.

Our fav is Riverside.... we dont like the theming or the pool look of FQ and Riverside isnt that bad... its beautiful and I dont find it too big, there are 4 bus stops so you are never far! I love the pool and the look of the mansion rooms..... its our fav :)
