ok i think i am the most wishy washy person ever but i just cant decide. we are going to be at WDW from sept 13-17(early am flight on the 17th). the 16th is my MK day. it is my mom, me and my 3 year old twin daughters. I want to eat at crytal palace but i just cant decide between lunch and breakfast. here are the pros and cons i can see.

breakfast:
PRO:in park before opening(never done this)
food seems to get better reviews in the am

CONS:
we will miss the little rope drop show which I htought was cute.
i doubt we will make it out in time for rope drop so we would miss the best time for dumbo

lunch:
pro: nice break mid-day
I am more of a lunch person then breakfast

cons:
having a scheduled time for lunch makes the day a little harder. i generally prefer brekfast or dinner ADR's

am i missing something? opinions?

IMO, the food at lunch and dinner at CP is pretty awful. Some love it, but it's just one of those things I don't get. The food on our last few visits has been bland and tasteless, hot dishes were cold and the service was bad. However the breakfast is pretty good.

Granted the RD show is a nice way to start the day, but you can always watch it online if you really wanted to. Walking down an empty MSUSA is a different feeling that you can only feel and experience first-hand. :thumbsup2

Hmmmm thats a tough one. FYI, I have an 805am ADR at CP and i most definitely do plan on finishing in time to leave the restaurant at 9am! It can be done. Done it many times before. :)
Anyway, since you prefer lunch i would do that. Plus with 3 yr old twins, it gives you a nice break in the middle of the day. I personally enjoyed their food at lunch. Although, breakfast at CP is pretty wonderful. and getting a pic on an empty main street is nice. Why not ask your mom for her opinion?

What time is your ADR for?
I've tried both breakfast and lunch and prefer breakfast A LOT more. I have no plans on going back for lunch.

Whenever we go for breakfast, we're also done before 9am and we've been a lot! (I used to live in Celebration, FL) I've had ADRS at the latest 8:25am and was done in time for the rope drop. It doesn't take a really long time. :) The characters don't move around the restaurant super slow. We're always able to get photos with all of them.
I love breakfast especially because you get to enter the park before it opens. :) Not to mention the puffed french toast and Mickey waffles!

Breakfast is great...it's wonderful to walk down Main Street when it's empty...plus it's a great start to your day....and it will be much easier to get into than lunch time.

My ADR is for 8:15. and lunch ones are available as well. is it likel we will be out in time for RD? i just htought it would take a while to get seated. i did hear about the advice of getting the check early so we can leave when we want to

i did ask my mom and she is not big on opinions. she is more of a stand back and let me plan everything kind of a person(this is mostly good as i like to be in control)

... is it likel we will be out in time for RD?...

If by "in time for RD" you mean to eat and walk back down MSUSA, out of the park and get a spot to watch the RD show... no. If you meant that you will catch up with those who are first in the park and running down MSUSA, you could be in time for that. If you finish before RD they will basically keep you outside the restaurant, then as the crowd approaches after RD they will let you go.

So, in reality, with your time ADR you wouldn't see the RD show but you could be one of the first on line for Dumbo. Also, I did a little research and see that the 16th is a MNSSHP day. The lines won't be too crazy since a lot of people will stay away from MK that day (most who don't have PH will skip it since the park closes at 7 and some who go to the party will take it easy durring the day). This is also another good reason to keep your breakfast since you will be able to begin touring the park at the RD time and won't have to lose a lot of touring time mid-day on a day MK closes early.

How about watch the RD show, grab some FPs and do breakfast at 10 or 10:30? You'll get your bill before 11 so you'll only pay for breakfast. They'll be setting up lunch by then, so you can grab a sampling of the lunch food before you get out.

We did the late breakfast and were too full for any lunch food, but we were clearly permitted to stay if we wanted to.

Breakfast!

For some reason, I love the breakfast food. The puffy french toast and the vegetable fritatta are really good. I have never eaten lunch there.

An 8:05 ADR is great for two reasons:
- Walking down an empty Main Street is really cool. It's a great way to start your day.
- You can probably get to the rope to Fantasyland before it drops.

Skip a table service lunch so you can go back to the resort and rest/swim/nap.

Have fun!

Another breakfast vote here. I have 8:25 reservation on August 25th. I really like being in the park before opening.

You'll have plenty of time. And you can check in early (around 8am) and you could get seated early. Breakfast at the CP doesn't take forever and you'll be one of the first ones at the buffet. The characters will get around to you pretty quickly since you have an early ADR time and there won't be a lot of people at the CP yet. Enjoy your breakfast and don't stress. Trust me, you'll make it for the rope drop! :)
