DS just gave his friends(our neighbors) their invitations to his birthday party at Chuck E Cheese. I was then discussing it with their mother(I would consider us pretty good friends). I specifically mentioned that of course her and her husband are welcome to be there. She said she would definitely come but she doesnt know if her DH is working. Then she proceeded to tell me that maybe her 2 SILs might come too! Now they are neighbors also, and very very nice people. They are wonderful with our kids and I would have no problem if they did show up. However, I cant believe that she just invited them! I dont know if she doesnt realize that I will be buying food & drink for everyone, including the adults or what. Again, I dont mind adding a couple more people to the bunch(although I already feel I have too many adults), but I just thought that was odd for her to invite other people.
What do you think?

I bet she's expecting the adults to pay for themselves. I would expect to pay for myself. Usually kids' birthday parties only pay for the kids.

Surely they will pay for their own food! But anyway hope he has a wonderful birthday!!

I always buy extra pizza and pop to cover the adults. They
are on their own for game tokens!!!!! Your neighbor was
probably just thinking "the more the merrier!"

We had a lady who is the mother of a kid that my son goes to school with. We invited her son to our party at Chuck-E-Cheese one year. She never RSVP'd, but showed up with 5 kids.her husband, and her mother, LOL. She then proceeded to dig into the pizza and poured every member of her family some coke. The kicker is when she asked my husband whether or not we would be serving BEER! OMG, I thought I'd die. I never said a word, even though she didn't offer to pay a dime toward feeding her family.

I did have extra for the parents of the children invited, of course I couldn't expect them not to eat, but I didn't anticipate feeding this woman's family.

In any case, hopefully the two SIL's of your neighbor intend on paying for their own food and drink.

OMG, Snoopy! After hearing that story, I think nothing of the fact my neighbor invited 2 more people who I know. :) But,I have to know...does your Chuck E Cheese actually serve beer?

As for food for adults, I might not feel obligated to feed everyone, say if I invited DS's whole class and the parents that I dont know just came to supervise. But on the other hand, I have specifically invited adults(some family members without kids, and the neighborhood parents) so I do feel I should offer them something. Even if these 2 SILs come, I wouldnt expect them to pay for themselves, and most likely we will end up having more than enough pizza for them anyway so its not really a money thing. I just thought it was odd that she went and invited them out of the blue.

I'd pay for their pizza, but I'd give them only ONE token each:smooth: :smooth: :smooth: :smooth: .......

Yes, our Chuck-E-Cheese does serve beer. But the party was at noon on a Saturday, LOL.

I should note that the party I had was when my son was 5. This wasn't the sort of party he has now, where parents drop their kids off. Since it was lunchtime, I felt obligated to feed everyone. (but not the family of 7, LOL, even though I did anyway!)

I had my 4yo son's bday party at a local game/miniature golf establishment, and the meal was strictly for the kids. Their parents were there and they didn't expect to get any free pizza. Heck, my dh and I didn't even get any pizza!

However, since I brought my own cake, I was more than happy to give them a slice of that! :D

LOL, Eros! Maybe I should feed them , but make them all give me their tickets. ;)

That is so funny, Snoopy! It must make being at Chuck E Cheese a little more bearable. ;)

Chuck E Cheese serves beer????? I never heard of that......that is awful.

Yeah, luvtogo12, we've always thought it a bit odd that beer is served at our Chuck-E-Cheese. Not that we have anything against beer, DH drinks it ocassionally, and I like a beer in the summer months. But to serve it where all these kids are running loose just seems a bit irresponsible to me. Especially since I have seen people in there who were obviously a bit drunk.

Ewww! I don't mind people drinking, but I don't like the idea of beer at Chuck E Cheese. I wouldn't want my child running into a drunk person up in one of those tube mazes when I couldn't see him. I know people could show up drunk even if the place doesn't serve beer, but at least it wouldn't be as common.

Snoopy, I am with you and enjoy a cold beer or two in the summer months ( actually, one sounds good tonight) but never in a million years would I expect a place like Chuck E Cheese to serve beer. I agree, it is very irresponsible and an invitation for trouble.

LOL, you guys talking about beer at Chuck-e-Cheese reminded me of reading about a dad that got drunk at his kid's b-day party there and got mad at chuckie and threw him into the salad bar. Can you imagine how that kid felt? Poor thing. :(
