I can't believe she called it...

I deal with a lot of this stuff on an almost daily basis! I work as a TA and I honestly do love talking Disney with people, but sometimes it can be frustrating. Example: A lady called me last week and said "I'd like to take my family to Disney for Christmas." My reply "Are you talking about THIS Christmas? In the year of our Lord 2006?" (no, I really didn't say that. Just thought it :teeth: ) She answers "Yes, and we'd like to stay for 12 nights. I guess we don't have to stay at a Disney hotel the entire time, but we definitely want a Disney hotel for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day". What I say is "okay, let me see what I can do." but what I'm thinking is "I'm sure you do, lady. And so do all of the other people who will be there over Christmas. The people who booked their trips. A YEAR AGO!!!". When she came in to go over details with me, I found out that she hadn't been to DisneyWorld since 1988. She kept referring to the Magic Kingdom as DisneyWorld and she didn't even know that MGM or AK existed. She was absolutely stunned to see how much Disney has grown, the overwhelming amount of hotel choices, and most of all- the prices! Yes, I did find something for her and no, she did not book it. :rotfl: I don't expect everyone to be a DisneyWorld expert, but I do wish that a lot more people (like us disser's) would just do a little research!

Gotta Get To Disney! :moped:

When we were waiting on our bus for AK @ POR in June...we had a couple come up to us with their little girl. The mom asked me which bus they needed to get on to get to WDW. I asked her if she meant MK. She told me NO, they wanted to go to WDW. After trying to explain she was already in WDW, (getting no where I might add...) the husband finally said well can you tell us how to get to the Castle...
I joke all the time about that one. I always say she must have thought I was as blonde as she was. And still wonder if they ever found WDW?

Before i found this board, I also thought that mk was WDW

DH and I went to DisneyLand in September. We got in a debate about weather the park across the esplanade (I don't know how to spell it) from Disney's California Adventure was DisneyLand or The Magic Kingdom. So we asked at Town Hall. I won. It's MK and the resort as a whole is DL.

Some people just cant be helped. I used to debate with people.

Now I say, "Ya know, I think ....(whatever the debate is) but you call me when you get back and let me know if I was right."

Im always right...lol...when it comes to WDW! Thanks to the Disboards!

This is so funny!
But, Thank you DIS Boards!, Before I was in the same boat I had been to MK about 10+ times in my life all young to early teen and then never went again and then had my little girl who took to the princess role at birth, so I said hey lets go to WDW. I got to the web site and I freaked out! "Which one is the one I went to! which one has the castle!", fortunately for me I used some logic and the ruling out method as they are all so different and found the right place! Then the magic of the trip happened when I stumbled upon this site and I am so thankful that every one is here to help us who are thinking WDW is the MK!
This site can make a trip and the other people at the park could be much more informed thanks to the invent of the internet!
Oh, did I thank the DIS yet? :thumbsup2

I agree with you about the fact if you never been there its hard to remember which one is with. I get them mixed up.

Living here in Southern Ontario we have this rather horrible "theme park" called Canada's Wonderland. IMHO Please no flames if you love this place. Its open through the summer and its all roller coasters and not really that great, you go once every 3 years and you are good.
Well a lot of my family just doesnt get why we go ALL that way to Florida when we have a "perfectly good" rollercoaster place like Canada's Wonderland. Oh and that Canada's Wonderland has Mickey too, so we are just waisting money.... DH just smile and nod at those ones now.

Hey, I know what you mean. My Mohter's there right now and she calls me every night when she gets back from the parks. All I can say is WOW! She told me allthe things that were missing form the "Magical Spectacle" Parade--ok but they were never there to begin with--she mixed it up with the Holiday Parade at MVMCP (skating ladies and Santa). She told me her room was in Melody Hall--no dear, that is where you checked in. It goes on and on--needless to say I cringe already thinking about the trip report at Christmas dinner--a few glsses of wine should take the edge off!

:rotfl: We live about 30 minutes away, and I haven't been since I was a teenager. There's no magic there, just rides.

I thought you meant at WDW and I was having heart failure. :rotfl: Guess I should read the WHOLE thing before I start freaking out!

Jungle Land, eh? :rotfl2:

I wonder does she call MK, Disney World and EPCOT, Future Land and Disney Studios, Movie Land??

Jungle Land. I was at a party yesterday and I was talking with this woman about our upcoming trip and she was telling me about the time she went with her grandkids and she actually called Animal Kindom, Jungle Land. This was after her arguing with me about the dining plan saying that I didn't have to use my table service as table service I could use it anywhere. I told her yes anywhere as long as it was a sit down restaurant and not a counter service. Now I must tell you she has never used the dining plan herself only her son. Once she called AK Jungle Land I had to get up from the table and get away from her. Just had to tell someone who would understand. Thanks for listening.

ROFL!!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I went as a child three times with relatives and have cherished those memories ever since. I planned my most recent trip (earlier this month) for a year. Now, coming up in February, I have booked another trip for just my Mom and I. She has NEVER been to WDW. All she knows is what I told her when I was a young kid and what I tell her now. She refers to our trip to Disney LAND often. I keep correcting her but she keeps making the same mistake over and over. When I say "Disney WORLD, Mom". She says, "Whatever." It makes me want to pull my hair out! :furious: (Or HERS!) I'm hoping that by the time she experiences it for herself first-hand, she won't be so flippant.

Its always funny what people will say and what you will hear.
However you can use table service meals at most counter service, i've done it many times, and if you use your table service at a counter service at a resort cafeteria they will usually give you a disney pin for the downgrade.
see you all at jungleland in february for two weeks.
LOL

How hard is it to get the name of the parks right? There aren't that many. :confused3
I work in the tourist industry and you wouldn't believe how many people can't get it right. I've heard worse than "JungleLand".

Jungle Land (more commonly known as Animal Kingdom) doesn't have real animals either!!!! The song 'I want a Hippopotomous (I cannot spell) for Christmas' was on and I was telling a coworker about the hippo I saw jump out of the water at Animal Kingdom. She told me that none of the animals are real. She has never been Animal Kingdom and was thinking of the Jungle Cruise. Could not convince her that AK has real animals. She is going in 2008 so she will understand that yes, the animals are real and you can see a hippo jump.

My pet peeve is the mix up between Disneyland and Walt Disney World, along with the fact that it is Walt Disney World, not Disney World bugs me as well (sorry everyone). Walt was an amazing person and his name was added as a tribute to him.
