Well we did it. We made our reservations. We were at WDW last May and thought we would probably go again in two years. Well for the last few months DW has been researching other trips including all-inclusive resorts and cruises. When we priced out these trips we were shocked at how expensive they really were. We kept saying for that price we could go to WDW. Then the kids (DS9, DS7) started saying that they wanted to go back to WDW and ride the Rock'N Roller Coaster.

I found some pretty good airfares for the kids April vacation week and the rates for the Club level at the Swan and Dolphin fit right into our budget, sooo.... This morning DW and I sat at the computer and figured out the best rates for airfare and hotel and booked it for the 18th through the 25th. We haven't told anyone yet because I know that some of our friends and family are going to think it is too soon to go back, but we really love it there. We have never stayed at the Dolphin or Swan and are looking forward to it. Last year we split our stay between CR and YC. We liked the Epcot Resort area, so we are going back. Can't wait. Anybody got ideas for things to do this trip? We never got to the Boardwalk when we were at YC and we want to do more of the countries at Epcot with the kids.

We took ds (9) for his first trip to WDW in June. Before the trip, we thought it would probably be many years, if ever, before we returned. After the wonderful time we had, we thought we'd go back in a couple years. Now we're planning on going back end of March for Easter break! So, it will only be 9 months btw visits for us, too. Ds doesn't know yet, but he talks alot about wanting to go back. I wouldn't have believed it if someone told me a year ago that we'd go to WDW twice within a year, but We had such a terrific time in June. I can't wait!

Enjoy aniticipating the trip!

JayCt - Ah, don't worry what friends and family say - they just don't get it. My brothers and sisters were always saying they would go when their kids were a little older. Well the kids got older and they still never went. They'll never know or understand what magic Disney holds for some of us.

I'm happy for you. Sorry I don't really have any idea for you. Enjoy your trip with your family. :cool1:

Welcome to the "club". If I don't go at least a couple of times in a 12 month span, I get withdrawls and start to shake.

Carol,
Those are my feelings, too. :D

JayCT, ENJOY, ENJOY, ENJOY!! And be VERY thankful that you CAUGHT the DISNEY MAGIC!! We have been going to WDW since my DD was 2, she is now 20! We also have 2 sons 17 and 11. For the first 8 years we went about once a year,in 1993 we bought into DVC(we have since added on 3X), had our 3rd child and started going twice a year! WDW is our favorite place to be a FAMILY! I have pics of all my children literally growing up in WDW!! One thing you may enjoy is to head over to the BW at night, there is entertainment right on the BW(be sure to walk all the way down) and the Ice Cream/ Candy shop is an DELICIOUS stop! You can also walk up the outside stairs and take a look at the lobby.(It is always nice to check out different hotels for future stays!)WE also will be at WDW the 3rd week in April. WE will start our stay with 3 nites at the WL and then head over to the BCVillas for a week. Sadly, this will be our first trip that my 20 year old daughter will not be able to join us for even a few days (she will be in her 3rd trimester at JWUniversity) and her course of study will not allow for even a few days off! But I am hoping to get the family together for a trip to DISNEYLAND this summer! Have a GREAT trip and remember half the fun is in the PLANNING!! Joan

I have to laugh because when I read your thread, I could have swore that it was one my DH could have written. We were also there last May and thought our next trip wouldn't be until Dec. 2006. We were set to go to the beach this year and take a year off becuase our youngest son (7) is 1" shy of the Rock and Roller Coaster required heighth. He said he never wanted to go back until he could ride it.

Anyhow, he is still just at 47" and we're going anyhow. The beach was going to cost nearly the same and we have a waaaaaaaaaaaay better time at WDW so we're going in April also. We also haven't told our family and friends yet because they will also think we're "nuts"!

Anyhow, can't wait to see Mickey again! :cool1:

Welcome to the club!!! Most of us started taking these trips to WDW thinking it would be a "once in a lifetime" trip, but found a way to go back in a couple of years, which turned into 18 months between trips, down to once a year and now have to go 2 x a year. I don't even tell anyone(except those who really have to know!)that I'm going to Disney again. Sometimes I don't even tell my kids I'm going(they're old enough to stay home without parents)until about the night before. Doesn't surprise them anymore! At least here on the boards there are plenty of others who feel the same way as Disney as I do!

Hi,

We're doing the same thing. We went last May and did not plan on going to WDW again until at least May 2006. I was about to make ressies for Beaches all inclusive in Jamaica when DH said that he would rather go back to WDW. Soooo since we have to do graduations and weddings in May this year. We're going back in September. We're not going to tell anyone else we're going after I told my MIL she asked why we didn't just go to Las Vegas  Enjoy your planning and your trip. I know I'm on cloud nine just planning.

Sounds like us our Daughters first trip was in June. We figured we would go next year. And thought we would do a road trip in May and another road trip in August. And figured that was about the same as going back to the WORLD. May trip to Disney, before schools let, woohoo.

Yea! Went as a child, then again before entering college. My DH had never been. Well, after 15 years of marriage and two kids, we planned our first trip for Feb. 2003 in 5 weeks (with a tax return and a month free of our mortgage payment due to a refinance). We had a grand time. We knew we would go again sometime. Well, after 6 months we yearned to return. January 2004 arrived, knew we were getting a little tax return $, and BOOM! Another wonderful vacation with only 5 weeks planning. Our DS's high school marching band thought they might go to Disney in April 2006. Okay...so maybe we'd chaperone the trip. Start saving now, we thought. Well, plans changed for the band...but we just decided this week to go even earlier...for Christmas 2005! It's killing me to think that I have to wait 11 1/2 months, especially since I had instant gratification on our previous two trips, only planning for 5 weeks. We'll be making reservations for POFQ very soon. Stayed there in 2003. Newly renovated, I hear. Also enjoyed CBR last year! Just love the magic! Elaine

Oh Jay, It can be VERY habit-forming!~As so many on here have posted! And, you are going to enjoy the Swan/Dolphin resorts, (CLUB LEVEL gives you even more to LOVE!). Since you have stayed in this area (YC), you'll recall how close these resorts are to the BW. The BW is a GREAT place to take the kids in the eves, for a nice stroll, games and dinner.

Since the world showcase is so close to the international gateway, the kids will enjoy spending more time in the countries. Did they purchase the Epcot PASSPORT during your May visit? ($10). It's a great way to get them involved in visiting each pavillion, as they have the passport stamped and signed by a CM from the particular country. These international guests will sign the passport with a personal message, in their native language! It's a lot of fun, and comes in an official-looking package (complete with stickers, a pin, and a plastic sleeve). There's even a place for a photo, taken in each country. :wizard: Fun, Disney MAGIC!!

Have a wonderful time! I love the feeling of "knowing" you are GOING AGAIN, especially when no one else does *(except your family!). :cloud9: Enjoy!

LOL! That's why I love coming to the DIS. Makes me feel better about my Disney obsession! 2004 was the fist year we went twice, and I couldn't belive my DH went along with it. But I think he finally gets it, too.

I am totally happy with a once a year trip to WDW, but I don't think I can ever go back to every two years!

Have fun. And take the kids on both the boat rides at World Showcase, and through the Ice Station (different kinds of sodas from around the world). And also the new thing at Living Seas with the turtle from Nemo looks fun!

Thanks everyone. I knew there would a lot of support on the Dis Boards. What I don't understand is that our friends and family will think nothing of spending a small fortune to go to an island or resort somewhere and just sit on the beach. BORING! We like that there is SOOO much to do at WDW. The kids never get bored. And if the kids are happy, DW is happy. This makes me happy.

dreamflight - We did not do the passports last year, but we will do them this year. They do a similar thing at Santa's Village in NH and they loved doing that. Where do you buy them? Thanks

Kira'smom - Las Vegas? Your MIL wants you to take the kids to Vegas? Whatever for? DW and I went several years ago to a convention there (w/o kids) and, though it was great fun for us, agreed it is really not a place for kids. Though there are a few family things to do there, lets face it, the purpose of Vegas is gambling. Las Vegas is really a WDW for ADULTS. I know that they were marketing it toward families a few years back, but I believe that they have changed that now and are back gearing it toward adults.

ds96dj97 - Our DS barely made the height requirement for the Rock'N Roller Coaster and they let him on. I took them three times, before I said enough. I told them that if they wanted to go on they would have to go by themselves. Off they ran and never looked back. They went on that thing SIX more times before we had to drag them out of the park to dinner. I am not sure how tall your son is now, but if he is close, they will be pretty lienient.

JoanS - Surprising, we did not make it to BW when we were at YC last May. We kept saying we were going to go over but never made it. This trip, I think we will make it a top priority. DS9 is a sports nut, so I know he will love ESPN. We also want to check out the hotel because it is a place that we may want to stay in the future. Thanks

Thanks everyone for the support. It is nice to know that there are a lot of others in the same boat as us.

Our first trip after our honeymoone in '94 was in '02. Our princess were 6 & 2 (a month shy of 3) and we said we would come back when our littles dd was 5. We have gone back every year since then. For the money you are going to spend elsewhere, you know they will have a great time at Disney. AS well as mom and dad. I love Disney and cannot wait until April 22nd when yes, we are going again. Last year we went for 8 days and loved that lenghth of time, and this year for the same amount of time, plus grandma and grandpa are coming for 5 days....

When people ask me why I don't go anywhere else, I simply say I love Disney, and so do my girls. princess:

JayCT....Maybe it's just the people here in CT!!!!! :tilt: Our friends think were are nuts!! We were there last April vacation (the weather was great). We are going again this year in March and August. We have also priced out other vacation and ALWAYS come back to Disney. The kids (all 6) love it and so do we. The other vacations are ALWAYS more expensive than WDW.

I think its a CT thing, maybe it's the dreary weather we're having,
from 60 degrees to 30 degrees in 4 hours, from rain, to snow, to
ice in one night. We went in October to the Poly and didn't plan
on going for another year, but guess what, we're going in 2 weeks
to POR, couldn't resist low airfares and room rates. We're excited!!!

Thank goodness they have support groups (like this forum) for all of us!

You are right about it being great to know that the kids will have a good time. With a cruise, DW was worried that the kids wouldn't and we would be stuck with s sulking child. The same for the all-inclusive resorts. At WDW there is sooo much to do. If one of the boys does not like one thing we are doing, there is something different to do a little later.

I do not know if it is the people in CT because I have read similar things from people all over the country. I guess there are just those who think of WDW as ONLY an amusement park. Well that is their loss. We will enjoy our trips there while we can. Thanks eveyone. Jay

Congrats! I don't think it's ever too soon to go back, but then I went 3 times in 6 months last year with another trip coming up in May! Go and have a great time, don't worry about what they say. Some people just don't "get it".
