That looks good, are you sharing since you have two of them?
Your oh-so-subtle hints have been received. I know, I know. I am falling back into my old slacker patterns.
But the holidays slowed my roll. And now we are MOVING. For the third time. In about 16 months. And while we should be professionals by now, this time we are NOT using a moving company in order to save some dough (so we can spend it at WDW in March!) and YOU try packing with a 9 month old up your butt and tell me how much time YOU have left over for the DIS.
Breathe. Breathe.
Ok, sorry about that. I guess I lied when my Mom asked me if I was feeling stressed this morning. Keep this mind, my friends: you only hurt the ones you love.
OK, so last I left you we were gearing up for our final day of the trip, which we were spending at AK, when ACK - my two little monsters decided they would rather spend the day at the huge, tacky, cholesterol-rising Mickey D's right by the All Stars.
Say what? And I thought I had raised these kids right. Sigh.
Well, I promised them we would eat dinner there on our way out of town, and this mollified them.
This day was different from the others in one way - I rented a stroller for DS, who was 5 at the time. That child had walked and walked and walked and skipped and hopped and bolted and scampered and never said one word all week about being tired, his legs/feet hurting, etc. I was amazed, impressed and slightly stupefied. So when we walked into AK and I spied the stroller rental, I asked,
"Son, would you like for me to rent you one of those big safari looking strollers over there for today?
He hesitated. I could tell he wanted to say yes, but was A. afraid of looking like a baby and B. afraid his buds at school might hear about this. But eventually he shyly (and this kid does nothing shyly) said,
"Ok."
Well, he loved that stroller and I kind of liked pushing it. It is huge and very balanced with a smooth ride. Plus, it is very useful for nipping at the heels of slow pokes in front of you.
TOTALLY KIDDING. I am not one of THOSE people. Much.
But truly, I am not sure if it is the park layout or what, but this was the only day we spent in WDW on this trip where it actually felt "crowded." Wait times were still relatively low, EE aside, but the walk ways were wall to wall and it felt a bit stifling. In fact, as someone who sticks to early Feb. and early Nov., this was the most "squishy-fied" I have ever felt at WDW.
I fully expect this to change on our upcoming trip in March - Spring Break. Oh, horrors.
So, weigh in - why do you think this park feels so crowded??
OK, so nearly everything we did in AK was a hit. Of course we did those Dumbo-esque dinosaurs. We also enjoyed Dinosaur and the Safari. My kids expecially loved the safari and it was a "good animal day," meaning many were out and doing their thing. We started doing the little activity think at the Rafiki Planet dealy-bob, but the kids got really bored. DS got bit on the calf by a particularly frisky baby goat, be he didn't seem to mind. No blood was drawn, so no harm no foul in my book.
DD got to spend quite awhile talking to a recylcing bin, which was super. At some point, after their 15 minute conversation (and she was 3, remember), I said,
"Ok, honey, hug the trash can goodbye..."
To which the saucy little receptacle replied,
"Ma'am, I'm a recycling bin. Hugging a trash can would be weird."
Well, didn't I feel sheepish.
We skipped ITTBAB based on the comments made by many other parents on this board. We still have not seen it to this day. I think the March trip might be the one to take a chance on that show. The kids are now 7 and 5, and DD, who will be nearly 6 on the trip, is not one to be afraid of much of anything. Except maybe eating chicken or beef, but that is a whole 'nother story for a whole 'nother board.
OK - next up will be my pics from this squishy, fun and somewhat sad because it was the last day in WDW day at AK...
