My computer died last week, so I replaced it with an eMachines T2200. eMachines had a reptuation of building cheap computers, but the price was really good for what I got with it. I did check Cnet.com and 94% of users recommended it. I took a chance and thought that I would have to return it for a Dell, but I was quite surprised that the computer is actually pretty good! It has some quality components. It's easy to install new hardware and it even has space for a second hard drive and the necessary cables.

I never thought I would own an eMachines and much less recommending it, but here I am doing so. :)

I wish you better luck than we had with the e-ones that I bought for the kids. The CD drive on one of them died within 4 months and we had to pay to return the system. They sent one which was a model below that which we had purchased so it had to be returned. The one that was sent after that had a drive that was so old that it couldn't read high density disks--just double density (shouts overstock parts, doesn't it?). The CD died again shortly after, and I kept the system going with an external until replacing it as quickly as possible. The other system did the same thing within the year and I just replaced it.
I too relied on the prevailing comments on either C-net or epinions. Hope you have a better experience. I could never recommend the company.

We have two of them at my house and have never had a problem with either one of them. I've had mine for almost 3 years and no trouble whatsoever. :)

We have an e Machine that we've had for bout 2-3 yrs now. My husband is good dealing with computers and has been able to add things to the computer without any problems. We have no complaints about ours.

We bought the kids an E Machine a couple of years ago and have had less trouble with it than our HP.

My next computer is going to have a DVD burner.
