I can't believe he said yes! We conquered June! the end...9.10.10

That is hilarious!!!! See?!?! Even the most skeptical are susceptible! That is too funny. :lmao:

I have to be careful not to gloat!! ;) But I was so very happy!!!

Well that narrows it down to what? 18 resorts? I guess I'll just have to wait and see. popcorn::

Those hints weren't too good were they?? I could narrow it a little bit more...it was not a deluxe!! I will try not keep you hanging too long! :goodvibes

I'm so happy Keith has sort of come around to loving WDW! He may say it is because of his foot but I believe he has seen the "light". ;)

I'm anxious to find out where you ended up staying for the rest of your visit - maybe a moderate like at Coronado Springs or Port Orleans?

I think he did begin to see the light! He wasn't into Magic Kingdom at all but he really enjoyed Epcot despite the foot issue and he really enjoyed DHS due to Toy Story Mania. That one surprised me since he isn't into animated shows and would not go see TS3 with me :sad2: but I think it was the competitiveness coming out!! He really enjoyed the resort and DTD plus the friendliness that was all around!!

Good guesses...I should have the update soon!! :goodvibes

Ahhh too exciting that Keith chose to spend the remainder at WDW instead.

I can't wait to hear what you guys did with the rest of your time and how awesome that your already thinking about a future trip:goodvibes

Well, we left Chef Mickey’s and we decided to head to the monorail.
IMG_5303.jpg

We decided we could ride the monorail to Epcot and back. Also we decided to do a little resort hopping and check out some of the other resorts. We rode to the TTC from the Contemporary Resort.

Keith and the kids acting a little goofy:
IMG_5306.jpg

And then serious (see smiles????):
IMG_5307.jpg

I really do not like the overlays because you are not able to see out the windows clearly and your pictures are full of dots….see??

IMG_5310.jpg
IMG_5311.jpg
IMG_5312.jpg

So I guess technically I got to go to Epcot one more day! But then as we were on our way back to the TTC, Keith began talking about how much a one-day ticket would cost. He wanted to return to Epcot! Plus he knew I had wanted to see so much more! (Also, his foot is beginning to feel better and he isn’t hobbling half as much!!)

Mickey at the TTC:
IMG_5313.jpg

Well, I know tickets for one-day cost a ridiculous amount of money, but I looked up military and it said $72.00. To my amazement, Keith began thinking why not? We were spending that much on activities in St. Augustine anyway. I then thought about how it was around 10:30am so why not wait until Friday when we would have a full day. So the decision was that rather than going straight to Shades of Green, we would go on to our hotel and check-in. We could then resort hop until the afternoon when the room is ready.

Well, we get to the resort at 11am and the room is actually ready!! :yay: So at this point we decide that it is blazing hot outside and the pool would be awesome!! So we head to the room……But where are we????

When Keith called on Thursday evening to check into extending our stay, Port Orleans French Quarter and Riverside were booked. No vacancies. We were still able to take advantage of the 40% military discount!! So that was great! Keith tells me Coronado Springs is available. Now, initially when I had decided to upgrade from POP to a moderate resort, CSR is the one Chris chose and POR is the one Madison chose. After I read reviews on multiple sights and looked at as many pictures as I could online, I chose POR because 1) the boat ride to DTD, 2) it looked so peaceful, and 3) the trees provided shade that I thought would be great after hot days in the park! I was not excited about CSR because 1) the size of the resort, 2) it has a business conference and there were many comments on this, and most importantly 3) there is NO SHADE! Which made the resort look hot and after being in the parks all day, I felt going to a resort so hot would be not as relaxing.
Well, when this option came up I just told Keith sure! I had read all about it online and it would be okay. At this point I was getting to stay so that was all I cared about, plus it wasn’t that I didn’t like CSR, I had just been so unsure due to those factors. Keith made the reservations and we were booked!! So Thursday and Friday nights were spent at Coronado Springs!!
coronadosprings-1.jpg

When we first drove into the parking area, it felt like we had left Orlando completely!
coronadosprings.jpg

The lobby was beautiful! And the CMs were great!! We never once ran into anyone having a bad day!! I count us blessed on this count!!

Some pics in the lobby:
IMG_5316.jpg
IMG_5317.jpg

We were in the Ranchos section in the far reaches of the resort….all the way on the other side of the resort! You know a resort is massive when you really need to take the bus to get from one side to the other!!
We found our room and entered to find a nicely decorated room! I really liked these rooms! I liked the rooms better than the ones at POR, but that was just a personal taste and not a comfort reason! Some pictures in the room:

I think Madison was happy with the room!
IMG_5323.jpg

The room was so cool and comfortable that we almost hated to go walk around, but we had a mission….we must find the Dig Site!! We began walking and I have tons of pictures! This resort is very well landscaped!! One thing we noted was how cool it is that you can basically go to “different worlds” and never leave the Disney Resort area! It was truly like we had gone from the bayous of Louisiana to Mexico or the Southwest US! Yet we were only miles apart! Same goes for all of the resorts. I give huge props to the Imagineers for being so creative and pulling this off!!

We head out through the Ranchos section:

This has become one of my favorite pictures!
IMG_5330.jpg

It is actually my screen saver so I have mental flashbacks everytime I boot up!!

So we wander along the path and come across this sign…..
IMG_5331.jpg

We go a little further and then we see it!! But instead of walking on towards the pool, we head back to the room to get our swim suits!!
IMG_5332.jpg

Continued in next post!!

The kids go to the car (we had not even unloaded our bags yet!) while I went to locate the quiet pool and laundry room.

The Ranchos quiet pool:

On the way back I snapped these, and I was beginning to feel as though I had really entered the desert! I was parched and it was HOT!!!

We head to the pool and swim until about 3pm before going back to clean up for the evening.

This pool was huge and crystal clear PLUS very cool!!! I loved the theming!!! It took me back to our trip to Chitzen Itcha in the Mexican Yucatan!! A few shots around the pool and play area:

Ahhh too exciting that Keith chose to spend the remainder at WDW instead.

I can't wait to hear what you guys did with the rest of your time and how awesome that your already thinking about a future trip:goodvibes

I was so excited!! I keep making tentative plans with ADRs and I am not even sure if it will be spring, summer, fall, or Christmas!! I think I have a Disney addiction problem!! :lmao:

Wow, I can't believe he said to extend the stay. Lucky girl you are. I love the pictures of the resort. Makes me wish I was swimming there.

Well, we left Chef Mickey’s and we decided to head to the monorail.

We decided we could ride the monorail to Epcot and back. Also we decided to do a little resort hopping and check out some of the other resorts. We rode to the TTC from the Contemporary Resort.

The access to the monorails and TTC was a big plus for us at the Poly. It's a bit of a walk over to the TTC but it was well worth it.

Keith and the kids acting a little goofy:

Awww! Garsh!

I really do not like the overlays because you are not able to see out the windows clearly and your pictures are full of dots….see??

I saw the same thing and ended up taking no pictures from inside the monorail.

(Also, his foot is beginning to feel better and he isn’t hobbling half as much!!)

Now that's really good news!

Mickey at the TTC:

The spinning Mickey! We saw him several times on Monday and Tuesday.

We were beggining to get pretty hot at Animal Kingdom by this time as well.

We were still able to take advantage of the 40% military discount!! So that was great! Keith tells me Coronado Springs is available.

Now that is great news! I stayed at POR back in '07 and loved it no doubt. However, looking at the options on this years trip CSR would have been my first choice if we were not bringing five people.

The lobby was beautiful! And the CMs were great!! We never once ran into anyone having a bad day!! I count us blessed on this count!!

I love the pictures! I mean, honestly, a hotel with this much theming would run well into the 100's in Dallas.

We were in the Ranchos section in the far reaches of the resort….all the way on the other side of the resort! You know a resort is massive when you really need to take the bus to get from one side to the other!!

Nearly all of the Mods have long walks if you are placed in a remote spot. PO:FQ is the most compact of the mods.

I think Madison was happy with the room!

Those are queen beds at CSR, right?

The room was so cool and comfortable that we almost hated to go walk around, but we had a mission….we must find the Dig Site!! We began walking and I have tons of pictures! I give huge props to the Imagineers for being so creative and pulling this off!!

It looks very pretty. You need to check out the Wilderness Lodge and AKL as well. We have only seen pictures but from all accounts you really feel like you have travelled to even more exotic locations.

We go a little further and then we see it!! But instead of walking on towards the pool, we head back to the room to get our swim suits!!

If this were my family we would have been in our trunks wandering the resort. No way we could convince the kids to just check out the scenery! :lmao:

The kids go to the car (we had not even unloaded our bags yet!) while I went to locate the quiet pool and laundry room.

Did you check out the prices in the laundry room? :scared1:

On the way back I snapped these, and I was beginning to feel as though I had really entered the desert! I was parched and it was HOT!!!

Well, short of all of the St. Augustine grass, yeah. :rotfl: You should see our lawn. No rain here for 4 weeks now and we have topped 100 degrees 22 of the last 24 days. :headache:

We head to the pool and swim until about 3pm before going back to clean up for the evening.

It really is the only way to spend a summer afternoon in Florida.

This pool was huge and crystal clear PLUS very cool!!! I loved the theming!!! It took me back to our trip to Chitzen Itcha in the Mexican Yucatan!! A few shots around the pool and play area:

I love the theming there! I have seen many pictures and it looks like a deluxe pool. Again, if they had rooms for 5 we would have saved a lot of money and stayed there.

Next up: a ticket adventure and supper…..somewhere!

Isn't it fun to just wing it?

OMGosh, I hadn't been able to read this thread in a while, and this was such AWESOME NEWS!!! :woohoo: I felt like I had been given an extended vacation, myself!! :rotfl:

And, yeah, I can totally feel you when you thought, "oh, no, not that resort," and then you get this little gift of More Disney...suddenly, you're like, "SURE! Let's stay THERE! I don't mind!" :lmao: I would have been the exact same way about CSR!!

But the beds look really comfy, and things look very nice. Being from sparce, West Texas, that resort has never appealed to me. RUN AWAY!! :rotfl: But I was loving the pictures and all you talked about.

Churros, por favor? Can't wait to hear more...! ;)

Vickie

Oops, I got behind again. All caught now! Too cool about Keith wanting to stay longer.:cool1::banana::yay:

Love your pics from CSR and around Epcot. You got some great pics. I need to show your CSR ones to my DH. He is suppose to be planning a getaway weekend in January for us and CSR is one of those I mentioned. Hopefully they renovate POR soon.

A couple of things I have to comment on, loved the text about the woman in the pink dress.:rotfl2::rotfl: Actually, sounds like something I would say, not a Princess person.

Also, I love that Keith smiled really big for Minnie, but not Mickey.;)

Wow, I can't believe he said to extend the stay. Lucky girl you are. I love the pictures of the resort. Makes me wish I was swimming there.

I was so very excited!!

That pool was so refreshing!! I would love to be there!! I am so tired of 100 degree weather and it refuses to go away!! That pool would sure be a treat...and of course that would also mean I was back at Disney World!!

The access to the monorails and TTC was a big plus for us at the Poly. It's a bit of a walk over to the TTC but it was well worth it.

I love riding the monorails!

I saw the same thing and ended up taking no pictures from inside the monorail.

I only took 4 due to the overlays and that was just to document what we did! I was so disappointed!!

Now that's really good news!

I was really glad because it is no fun to be on vacation and feel bad!!

Sounds like a good cost saving plan! :thumbsup2

I love discovering the many things you can do and fill up a day at Disney without ever spending much money!! :woohoo:

Now that is great news! I stayed at POR back in '07 and loved it no doubt. However, looking at the options on this years trip CSR would have been my first choice if we were not bringing five people.

I wish there were more (better) options for families of 5 than just deluxe or the few choices in moderate/value! You are really limited!!

I love the pictures! I mean, honestly, a hotel with this much theming would run well into the 100's in Dallas.

Thanks!! I really liked the theming here....as evidenced by snapping pictures of every step I took!!

Those are queen beds at CSR, right?

Yes it was a queen size bed!!

It looks very pretty. You need to check out the Wilderness Lodge and AKL as well. We have only seen pictures but from all accounts you really feel like you have travelled to even more exotic locations.

We went to AKL last year and loved it!! It was so pretty!! I keep making plans to go to WL but it never works out...probably a good thing because then I would want to stay there!!

If this were my family we would have been in our trunks wandering the resort. No way we could convince the kids to just check out the scenery! :lmao:

The only reason we did not was because we had yet to unload the car!! Otherwise, I would have never left the pool when I got there!!

Did you check out the prices in the laundry room? :scared1:

They are scary!!! It is a racket!! :rotfl:

Well, short of all of the St. Augustine grass, yeah. :rotfl: You should see our lawn. No rain here for 4 weeks now and we have topped 100 degrees 22 of the last 24 days. :headache:

We have done the same heat wise...I am so tired of 100 degress!! We cool off to a lovely 94 degress next week! :woohoo: We have been getting some unbelievable storms though!!

Isn't it fun to just wing it?

It is so relaxing just going with the flow!!!

OMGosh, I hadn't been able to read this thread in a while, and this was such AWESOME NEWS!!! :woohoo: I felt like I had been given an extended vacation, myself!! :rotfl:

It was so awesome getting the bonus days!!

I felt that way about POR because of the plantation homes and theming, but I was glad I gave it a shot since we fell in love with POR!! We have things like that just right around the corner!

I must say, I have to apologize to CSR because it was so nice!! But I was right on it being hot there!! But then it was hot everywhere! No shade=:faint:

And I have yet to get a churro and they are on my list everytime!!! :headache:

I would definitely do CSR again and in January, I would not hesitate!! Plus they say the spa there is very nice!!

Chris is so funny sometimes...he just comes out with funny things sometimes! He is not into princesses at all...at least most of the time!!

I may need to watch Minnie next time!! :lmao:

:yay: for CSR! I enjoyed hearing you compare CSR and POR. CSR had been my 1st choice for our trip, but it had been sold out. I think you are right on about the theming reminding one of the Mexican Yucatan.

I would love to get to go to the Dig Site and I am sure the kids would love it too.

I can see why you liked the room themeing better. I think the updates those rooms have gotten make them feel more understated than a lot of the other resorts.

BTW, you are so right about the heat! We haven't had a high under 100 in weeks!

omg i am so excited that keith came up with the idea to extend your stay!! i bet you were practically peeing your pants with excitment!

woohoo! cant wait to hear therest of the trip!

I would defintiely stay at CSR again but the same can be said for POR!!! The rooms were way better at CSR though!! I remember your PTR and the attempt to gedt CSR! At the same time I was in a quandry over what resort I should choose!! I think they each have there own positives. I plan to expound on my thoughts later as I give more details on our extended stay!!

This heat is getting so old!! I am ready for fall!!! School is beginning so I think the heat should take a hike!! LOL :lmao:

LOL!! The extended stay was awesome but I think I became most excited when he suggested getting more park tickets and possibly booking bounceback!! That really meant a lot that he would want to come back!!! :yay:

When I last left you, we had spent a very relaxing afternoon at the pool. Our plan for the remainder of the day began with going to Shades of Green to check out the possibility of either a one-day park ticket or try Sea World or Universal. We decide to take the bus to the Magic Kingdom. We head out to the bus stop…this is our view while we waited:
IMG_5348.jpg

The bus came very quickly…less than 10 minutes! :yay: This was a dream after our long waits at POR!!! In no time at all we are getting off at Magic Kingdom and looking for transportation to the Polynesian resort. The boat is loading so we decide this is a great option! We are the last on board and have to sit next to the skipper. We had so much fun talking to him that I later realized I did not take a single picture!! He had noticed Keith’s shirt and made a comment about his friend being from Mississippi so we proceeded to discuss the things he had done, places he had seen there (which with boring Mississippi, did not take long!:rolleyes1) Well, actually, it was more interesting to talk about where he was from! He called Anchorage, Alaska home and Keith had been there many times with the Air Force so that location is a lot more fun to talk about!! :thumbsup2 All of these discussions made our journey super fast and soon we were disembarking in paradise….uhm, I mean at the Polynesian!

We wandered around a bit and then found the path to SOG. For me this walk was more like an uphill, hike in 400 degree heat! I was beyond hot when we arrived and headed straight for the store to purchase water. This also meant, I never thought to take pictures! I kick myself now!! While I am buying water Keith and the kids are looking at the brochures and trying to decide what to do on Friday.

Now initially we had 3 thoughts:
1) A one day ticket to Epcot, or by this time Keith was also mentioning DHS
2) Sea World
3) Universal

We begin looking at the ticket prices and realize that my fear of getting cut on Keith’s I-phone earlier had caused me to not notice that the $72.00 tickets were for children. :headache: The one-day military tickets were $82.00 (not far off from the –at that time-$85.00 one day ticket). :scared1: Well, since we had just done 4 days for $99.00 we nixed that idea!! Also, when they were looking at the brochures, a place I had mentioned months ago was discovered and everyone decided that we would do that and not worry about spending the money on park tickets. You will just have to wait to see where the kids chose to go!! :surfweb:

With this decision made, we head back out to the Poly. Thankfully the return walk was much more pleasant and I enjoyed the walk….it didn’t seem so bad or far. I am not sure why it was so awful on the way!! :confused3

Our plan for the evening was to go to DTD and find someplace for supper. We go to the bus stops at the poly and we wait…..and wait…..and wait……and wait….and finally 50 minutes later a bus comes for DTD!! In fact, we had time to watch this sky writer (not sure of the real title) write this in the sky! It was kind of cool and the sun was reflecting off the little plane the whole time!!
IMG_5349.jpg
IMG_5350.jpg

By this time there is an angry mob lined up to board and everyone is determined they will be on this bus!! So we are crammed in like sardines in a little tin can all the way to DTD! Thankfully, it was a relatively short trip!!

We begin walking through DTD and it is not very crowded which was so nice!! I took very few pictures. This is mostly because I was more in the moment than the lens. I had already taken so many pictures of DTD that I did not feel as though I was missing anything.

Keith decides where we will eat…he wants to go back to T-Rex so we head that way and put our names on the list. We sit on a rock and wait for our expedition to be called. We waited for maybe 30 minutes and then we were escorted to our table….two rows from the one on Saturday night!! Our waiter was different but he was great and extremely funny!! Still no pictures since I had taken so many previously but remember that video?? That was actually taken on this night…I just knew someone would notice the clothing was different!! I was glad no one caught on…it would spoil the ending!!

Supper was great! I had the steak which was extremely good! Madison and Chris had hamburgers which they really liked and those things were huge!! And I forget what Keith had but it wasn’t the Fish and Chips and he enjoyed his food also! Oh….wait, I do remember….he had ribs! Sorry for the lack of food porn…well, pictures in general!

After supper, we walked around and ended up watching a dance competition thing at the big stage. This was so cute! There were four couples, but the cutest was a 4 year old little girl and her dad…..of course they won!! By this time it was around 10pm and we were pretty much spent so we went back to the bus and thus ended our 1st non-park Disney day!!

What I learned :teacher: (or was reminded of) from a NON-PARK Disney Day:

1) No plans are sometimes a good thing!! We really just went with the flow and did whatever! This was a nice break from the running we had been doing. Of course I did note to Keith that had we known we were staying at Disney the whole week, I would have split up park days and not gone 4 days in a row at Commando speed!!
2) Give things a chance because you may be surprised! I always like to form my own opinions on things and the switch to CSR confirmed this philosophy! CSR is absolutely beautiful and that pool….well, I could spend an entire week and never leave the pool area!
3) Slow down and enjoy your surroundings. This is also why there is a shortage of pictures! Just spending time with your family will make memories that last forever!
4) You do not have to spend a lot of money to be entertained! We only spent money on food today! Yet, we had an entire day packed with activity! I must say that isn’t too bad!!

So this ends our Thursday! We began with Mickey at Chef Mickey’s, moved to CSR and discovered new adventures along the way! Friday is our last day and we are a little sad, but this is a day full of the same philosophy as Thursday. Where will our carefree travels take us???

CSR is a resort I would never have thought of staying at before, but your pics have defiinetely made me rethink that.

It sounds like you guys had an awesome vacation day and I can't wait to hear what you decided to do on your last day at WDW:goodvibes

When I last left you, we had spent a very relaxing afternoon at the pool. Our plan for the remainder of the day began with going to Shades of Green to check out the possibility of either a one-day park ticket or try Sea World or Universal.
The bus came very quickly…less than 10 minutes! :yay: This was a dream after our long waits at POR!!!

I had a few long waits at POR back in '07 but only a few times. I'm sorry you had so many.

We had so much fun talking to him that I later realized I did not take a single picture!! He had noticed Keith’s shirt and made a comment about his friend being from Mississippi so we proceeded to discuss the things he had done, places he had seen there (which with boring Mississippi, did not take long!:rolleyes1)

Ship Island, the Casinos and Natches. Pretty much sums it up. ;)

All of these discussions made our journey super fast and soon we were disembarking in paradise….uhm, I mean at the Polynesian!

We thought it was as well.

We wandered around a bit and then found the path to SOG. For me this walk was more like an uphill, hike in 400 degree heat!

We felt the same way over at DHS around this time. In fact if this is around 4-5 pm we were just getting back to the Poly via bus.

The one-day military tickets were $82.00 (not far off from the –at that time-$85.00 one day ticket). :scared1: Well, since we had just done 4 days for $99.00 we nixed that idea!!

You had a great deal! Too bad you couldn't extend the days at the reduced rate. Disney really wants you to get 4 or more days in a bundle to make it economical.

Also, when they were looking at the brochures, a place I had mentioned months ago was discovered and everyone decided that we would do that and not worry about spending the money on park tickets. You will just have to wait to see where the kids chose to go!! :surfweb:

You and your cliffhangers again! :scared1:

Our plan for the evening was to go to DTD and find someplace for supper. We go to the bus stops at the poly and we wait…..and wait…..and wait……and wait….and finally 50 minutes later a bus comes for DTD!! In fact, we had time to watch this sky writer (not sure of the real title) write this in the sky! It was kind of cool and the sun was reflecting off the little plane the whole time!!

I remember those skywriters! We had been so lucky with the busses leaving from the Poly all week. Our Typhoon Lagoon/DTD bus had arrived within minutes on Wednsday. You would not be the first to report long waits from the Poly though. :confused3

By this time there is an angry mob lined up to board and everyone is determined they will be on this bus!! So we are crammed in like sardines in a little tin can all the way to DTD! Thankfully, it was a relatively short trip!!

I'm glad we had planned to eat at 'Ohanas then!

Keith decides where we will eat…he wants to go back to T-Rex so we head that way and put our names on the list.

It looks like T-Rex was a hit again. I know our kids loved it!

Still no pictures since I had taken so many previously but remember that video?? That was actually taken on this night…I just knew someone would notice the clothing was different!! I was glad no one caught on…it would spoil the ending!!

I never checked out the video since I was at work when you posted that. I wonder if I would have caught such a detail. :confused3

It looks like a lot of fun and with little money needed for entertainment! :thumbsup2 I guess DTD has a lot of this going on all week. On Saturday I remember a lot of bands setting up but we left a little early to really catch them. :guilty:

Where will our carefree travels take us???

Well, i'm guessing not Sea World or Universal...so maybe this?
