That's great! OKW resales are selling for about what we paid back in 1997 so I feel pretty good about that. Hopefully your points will hold their value as much as ours have.
This was one of the major selling points of buying DVC, for me at least. It's nice to know that Disney really controls the market value, either buy increasing direct prices, or by choosing to buy more contracts back via ROFR. Either mechanism has a direct impact on the value of my ownership stake, and lately, Disney has been using both to keep prices inflated.
I'm looking to add on more points, but will only do that once the market turns back into the buyer's favor.
I noticed this just yesterday. Not that we would make a profit, but if we sold at the going rate on TSS we would just about break even. Not bad for 4 years of vacations. When I mentioned this to DW she got all sad thinking I really wanted to sell our DVC.
We bought our first BLT purchase in 2010 and we could sell for the same price in the resale market 3 years later. That's impressive, try doing that with a car, yacht, etc.
But, to be fair, I'm in the process of BUYING more point and not trying to sell anything...
Bought original contract in '93.
Added on in '95.
Bought a resale in 2011.
Paid within one dollar for each point.
Could sale them all now and make a profit, even after 20 years!
Not looking to sale but add on again at some point in the future.
