Greetings? Household 6 and I want to buy a 25 point resale contract. We are retired military, so we use Shades of Green when we visit WDW. But, we're diehard Disney people, and we want to supplement our visits with a few days in a Disney resort. Hence, the desire for a 25 point contract.

But, whenever they pop up on the website for the Timeshare Store, they're already spoken for. ("Sale Pending")

Short of spending 24/7 on the Timeshare Store website, is there a more efficient way to find out about/bid for resale contracts with low point totals?

Thanks---hooah!

:confused3

Get on TTS' "call list."

Tell them what you are looking for, and if something comes in that matches your needs, they'll call you before it goes on the market. That's the way the other contracts you see get "Sale Pending."

As JimMIA said but I would contact all the resale brokers and tell them specifically what you are looking for. Then hopefully you'll be the one with a sale pending before it gets to the website!

You do realize that a 25 point contract will not go very far.

No DVC studio or 1-br will accomodate a family of 6, so you would need a 2-br. The lowest point cost for a 2-br at WDW would be 23 points/night for an AKV value 2-br in Adventure season, or 26 points/night for a 2-br at OKW in Adventure season.

So 25 points would get you perhaps 1 night/year, or with banking/borrowing 2 nights every other year, or 3 nights every 3rd year.

...but we don't want to go all that far to begin with.

We still plan to make Shades of Green our primary Disney base. It's especially good for bringing family members down to join us. We plan to use a DVC membership so we can occasionally stay in a Disney resort before the rest of the family arrives, or after they leave.

We have a small family, so a studio should suit us fine. We also don't plan to come every year, so we'll be banking/borrowing/both to give us the points we need.

From what I can tell by the points charts, with 50 points (one UY's points plus another year's banked/borrowed) we could get three savannah room days at AKV, Sunday thru Thursday. We plan to spend our other days---to include weekends---at SOG.

Thanks for the azimuth check, though.

...I mean the aunts/uncles/cousins/friends who'd come to join us, and take advantage of SOG's rates. We only plan for immediate family to use the DVC reservations.

That should work out well for you then. You've obviously done your homework. Hope you find something.

Plus, you'd get the DVC perks too. (Although I don't know if the military perks would be better than the DVC perks in your case or not).

Sorry, this is off-topic...but to the OP, I love your screen name and the movie! :thumbsup2

I'm an Arizonan, so I always get a kick out of that movie.

That’s what I thought - probably from reading it here. However, I called the TSS a few days ago to tell them what I was interested in buying and was told that they don’t call anyone before the new listing emails go out. I was told that no one get “preferential treatment” (his words), that everybody gets the emails at the same time, and that if I see something I’m are interested in to let them know.

I was surprised. Did I get incorrect information?

There are other agencies other than the TTS. Contact some of the others (Jaki & **** - **********.com; dvcbyresale.com; GMAC) to see if they can help.

I have been considering it - it’s just that I am more familiar with TSS. Are the fees about the same with the other agencies?

I know GMAC charges an administrative fee but the other ones that I know of don't. I used dvcbyresale simply because they had the contract I wanted. The fees are about the same and the closing costs are based on the purchase price. Two contracts with the same number of points won't neccesarily have the same closing cost it will all depend on the sale price.

Well I'm not sure TTS calls you, what you have to do is get on their email list and then you get emails daily (or more) with the new contracts, before they go up on the website.
All you have to do is shoot Robert Machado an email if you see something you want.
I just saw an email with two 25-point VB contracts today at $65/point. And to those who say 25 points is useless...not at all; have you taken a look at the number of people wanting to transfer out points for dollars lately? :)

I get the TSS listings but also told my agent that I was looking for a specific contract and to keep her eyes out for me.

When one became available, she called me to tell me about it. It had just gone out in the daily email but wanted me to be aware of it in case I hadn't yet checked.

So, while it wasn't held for me or anything, she did give me a heads up that one was available.

get on the list at dvc-by-resale also- they send out new listings by email to folks on the list before they put it out on their site

Have you checked with GMAC? They had a lot of small contracts last time I talked with my agent there
