This should help others that are thinking about purchasing a new (non add-on) contract on a closed resort.

I recieved my big dvc dream book over a year ago. I called this morning and they had my contact information already in the computer. I was transferred to the agent who sent out the book last year (Gibb McCain).

I told him I would like 170 points at Board Walk Villas and I would need financing. I told him i was married and would like to own and finance the contract myself with my wife allowed to make reservations. He asked for my s.s.# and entered it for approval. During the 3 minute wait he asked if I knew my score (686). He said there would definately not be a problem.

Approved for preferred financing, I chose 10 years at 10.75 %. $1700 down payment financing roughly $15,000 would come to $208 per month. I would not have to pay closing costs (normally $320) as this property was a sold out property.

There are currently no contracts available at BWV. I will be put on a waiting list (told around 2 weeks). He took a $500 deposit that will go towards the down payment amount and will call when I recieve the points. He anticipates a USE YEAR of february, march or april.

I used my disney visa card for the $500 deposit and will use it for the remainder as well. If you use your disney chase visa you are eligible to charge the 10% down payment and recieve 0% financing on that for 6 months.

I asked about the closing costs as an FYI, you can add the closing costs into the financing amount if you wish.

Gibb told me that when he calls me back with the points and use year he will give me a membership number immediately so that I may make reservations.

I hope this helps someone.

We'll soon be welcoming you home as a new BWV neighbor!!! Good for you!

Good luck - hope you get your contract soon!

WOW! Only two weeks to wait. We were orginally told we may have to wait up to 6 months. Good luck and hopefully very soon you will be a new neighbor.

I hope you get your contract soon too.... as long as it isn't by ROFR of my BWV purchase which should be going to Disney in the next couple days! :lmao: :lmao:

I would not have to pay closing costs (normally $320) as this property was a sold out property.

I wasn't aware of that!

I've been on the fence about buying into VWL (over SSR or AKV) and it's good to see that little bonus tied in there.

Thank you for your comments, I am very excited.

I just wanted to say that everyone here on the disboards dvc have really been a help to me as I have been reading posts for over a year on the ins and outs of dvc.

You really don't get enough good information unless it comes from people who have been down that road before. Everyone here has been extremely helpful to me.

Thank You!

I'm so jealous! I'm dying to do a small add-on at AKV. Way to go! We own at BCV, but we'll be staying at YOUR new home from 21-29JUL and then we're going to VB for 5nts.

Welcome Home neighbor!

I'm thankful that last year when I talked with my guide, that I was real naive about DVC!! When I was ready to buy my points I called my guide and said ok lets go through with it. I was buying BWV points and NEVER ONCE thought they wouldn't have points for me to buy.

After being put on hold for a minute , my guide came back and told me I had a Dec U/Y . I would have freaked <G> if he told me I would have to WAIT !!!!! Never crossed my mind I might have to wait for them points <G>!!!

Hans, thanks for your post. I am about to purchase, and appreciated all of your info. Now I'm trying to decide if I should finance through Disney, or put the balance on a lower interest credit card.

What do you all think?

Whatever seems to work best for you. If on a credit card, try to get a low rate. Sometimes you can obtain a balance transfer at a very low rate (3.99-5.99%) until the loan is paid off. JUST MAKE SURE YOUR PAYMENTS ARE ON TIME, or else your default rate will be like 25%. OUCH. Call your CC company to see what deals they are offering. Good luck.:)

I too just bought bwv, and I am very excited that this is my first post in the DIS boards. This board help alot in my desicion. I hope to see my neighbors soon. One quick question:

What are the advantages of BWV?

What are the advantages of BWV?

Wow... that's quite a question for a first post! :thumbsup2

I'm sure there are lots of reasons but for us it was:

1) Location
2) The boardwalk being a "mini-Downtown Disney" outside our villa
3) Location
4) Proximity to restaurants and other resorts
5) Location
6) Being able to walk to 2 parks, monorail to MK
7) Oh yeah, location
8) theming
9) Lower cost 'standard rooms'

Chris :cool2:

When did you purchase BWV? did you have to wait for your points? How many points did you purchase? What is your use year?

I think that the main advantage of BWV is the large amount of rooms and the location between epcot and MGM. We love epcot and spend numerous days there while at WDW. I have never been on BWV property, but this past january we took the boat from MGM to epcot and I loved the atmosphere of both BWV and BCV. I think eventually my kids would prefer to stay at BCV mainly because of the pool area, but they won't be old enough for that for a few more years.

6)... monorail to MK

how do you take a monorail from BWV to MK?????:confused3

oh yeah, i remember...
walk to Epcot,
enter through the International gateway when the turnstiles open at 9am, walk around World Showcase,
Walk through Future World
Walk out of the entrance turnstiles
Walk up the 3 story ramp from hell
Wait for the monorail
take the monorail to the TTC
switch monorails by walking down and up another set of ramps from hell
monorail to MK
easy-peasy!
