DH & I have an acquaitance who si a gromer. When we first got Ted, he was having some "issues" on his belly with a rash, so the vet suggested getting him shaved there and groomed, to see if having a little less fur might make a difference...the thought being that the fur wasn't allowing the skin to "bret=ahte" and holding in omoisture...you get the idea...
Anyhow, she came to our house and groomed him, and DH & I were there, telling him what a good boy he was etc. When she got the electric clippers and went to do the part around his ears, he snapped at her. I htink the noise scared him, he was young. He didn't bite, he just snapped. She jumped back, and decided to finish his ears using scissors, which was fine. But a comment she made stayed with me forever after that...she said "if he had been at a groomers and done that, they'd have knocked him off the table and hung him by the lead for a minute to teach him a lesson".
Right there, I decided Ted would never go to a groomer. We bought an electric shaver to care for his belly area, I trim him in other areas when necessary (ears, paws etc) when necessary with DH holding him and telling him how good he is. We brush him often. He is a Springer Spaniel, but not a show dog so he doesn't need the fancy Springer cut....we just keep him clean, neat, keep on top of mats.

P& PD for a full and healthy recovery
I don't understand what could make a person who at some point must have loved animals, turn so cold hearted and evil?
