We recently got to the Magic for the 29th Sailing. Love this ship!!! Last time we were on it was the first cruise after the 2013 drydock and the twist and spout was brand new. We didn't even know beforehand that they would allow adults on the slide, but they did!!! My two DD's and I would go up after dinner and ride over and over again with no lines. I got really good at going fast, and kept getting encouraged by the lifeguard at the bottom to try and make it further at the end.

See, the trick I learned in my 100+ slides is to keep points of contact to a minimum. Ankles crossed, back arched and hands above your head. Lean into the turns and you fly!!!

So this time I put my twist and spout expertise to the test. My fits time down, again the lifeguard was impressed with my speed..."I have never seen anyone make it that far!" My next time down "Did you touch the end?" Sadly, no I was about 6" short of the end when the wave pushed me back.

I went again, and YES!!! I touched my feet to the grate at the end of the slide. I had done what the life guard said she had never seen anyone do. She was so excited with me, as were my DDs.

We went again, I reached new top speeds, I was having a perfect run. I made it to the end aaaand my feet went right through the metal grate OH NOOO. Up to mid calf my legs went into the slide structure.

I grabbed the grate, apologizing profusely. I tried to put it back and they said just leave it. We left the slide area to the other side of the ship. A few minutes later, the line at the top came down the stairs. The slide was shut down. I felt soooooo bad for those who had waited. There was a small boy in line behind me and my heart broke for him. We left the deck for our stateroom. My head hanging in shame. I was mentally preparing to hiding in my stateroom for the rest of the cruise lest I be assaulted by a mob of disappointed slide riders.

30 minutes later we came back to Deck 9, and it was working again. A wave of relief washed over me, it had not taken long to fix. So to anyone who was inconvenienced by my actions, I do feel bad and apologize...but I still think it is kinda a cool achievement.

Oh, and I stayed off the Twist and Spout the rest of the trip.

I'm glad you figured out how to go faster. I was sitting down on the slide and sometimes I had to push myself along, LOL!
