The equal grounds comment is in my marriage. I don't put myself ahead of my wife and she doesn't of me. If it is that big of a deal to the op, then so be it. Let her call and do whatever she wants. I don't care. I would not get worked up over this if it happened to me and don't lecture me about comments on someone elses marriage. My comments are about my situation.

In that case, you may want to avoid use of the pronoun you, which indicates someone other than yourself.

I was the one asking questions and being assertive when we bought into DVC. My DH just sat there. Without even asking, they listed me as primary owner. I thought that was funny

DW and I haven't really noticed this as everything seems to come with both our names on it. We both read this thread last night and had quite an enjoyable time doing so and discussing it.

Actually, I am calling our guide tomorrow. He specifically said that I was going to be "first". I am glad that we haven't closed yet. Not that I don't love my Dh, but as a female I have worked hard to make a name for myself apart from my husband.

WEIRD. My wife made our 7 month ressies for VWL and the confirmation came in her name, and I am listed first on the contracts we have at OKW and BWV.

Just looked again. My name is on the outside of the envelope, but hers is on the confirmation. She couldn't care less, BTW.

My guide said that the new paperwork will be here tomorrow. I know that some of you don't care who is listed first or not. I thought it was interesting that a majority who said that they didn't care were men. .

If my husband went out tomorrow to buy and airplane, something that he will do one day, I really don't care if I am on the title because the plane is "his". It would seem odd to me if all of the paperwork for the new plane came to me instead of to him.

DVC is really for me. We will both enjoy it, but even Dh says that this is "my" thing. I have two vacations planned that don't even include him. I know that in marriage we are equal partners and I do open all of his mail anyway and I do pay all of the bills too, but because this is something for me, I mearly wanted it to include me, so because Disney can't seem to figure out how to mail things out with two people listed, I am happy to change the paperwork!

Mine came the way that I wanted...Christina first and Brian second. Our guide asked how we wanted it on the paperwork and who primarily would be handling DVC. Since I will always be handling the details, I am the first listed on all the paperwork.

The same thing just happened to us. It is about the most antiquated, sexist, narrow- minded policy I have ever heard!

My best friend (aka DBF-Disney Best Friend)and I are members on the same contract. (Go figure 2 "mature" women who joined DVC over 14 years ago and still love it!)
Originally I made all the ressies. The confirmations came in my name. (My name is first on the contract.) My DBF complained to me that the ressies were always in my name as were all the room key/IDs. I told her to make the ressies from now on. (She hates to deal with telephones, reservations, orders in any form. ) She now does the ressies and the confirmations go to her in her name!
And we each get the monthly member email update to our own email addresses too.
I don't understand why you can't get the ressies in your name. And I think that it if it has anything to do with being a married couple as members vs. 2 mature single adults as members then that is definitely prejudicial. Good luck.

I do have a hyphenated name and I don't see anything wrong with that. We didn't get a prenup but did have a nanny for the first few years for our ds. I had no choice but to have a nanny since I was in the Air Force and they frown upon women quitting just because of having a child.

TAKitty, I do understand being a little put off with the whole name situation. There are a lot of us who worked dang hard to get where we are in both civilian and military sector. I am now retired AF and people ask me all the time for my husbands social security #. I usually give it to them and after they tell me that they cannot find whatever it was for I kindly tell them that maybe mine would work better. They usually smile after that.

Since my husband and I married each other, I expect that both of our names would be included in joint purchases. When we bought our house, and my name was listed as the primary owner on the mortgage, I was insulted when correspondence came to the house and was directed to Mr. So-and-So or Mr and Mrs. John So-and-So. Anyone could be Mrs. John So-and-So, but there's only one me! If a man bought golf clubs for himself, I don't think that a promotional coupon for a free golf weekend would come addressed to his wife. And if it did, he's say "I wonder why they sent it to you?"

After reading about this I went and checked our contract. I was pretty sure that both our names were on there and they were. But, my DH is listed first. I just received my ressie confirmation in the mail for BCV in Sept and when my DH got the mail he said "Disney mail for you". So the ressies were in my name only. I have gotten used to my DH having things come in his name first. I do not like it but I have stuff in my name so my name is first on things too. Funny thing is I make more money than my DH.

I guess this goes back to when most women were "only" housewives. Up until about 10 or 15 years ago my mother would sign everything Mrs. Michael So-and-So. I finally made her realize that she had a name and that she should use it. I guess it will still be awhile till everyone gets into the new millenium. And no I do not have a hyphenated name, an au pair or a prenup. Nothing wrong if you have them though.

Everything is listed in my name, I don't know why. Maybe because we bought resale and I was the only person they spoke to? DH's name is listed under mine even though he makes the money that paid for it! I never even thought to look until I read this thread...funny.

All of our correspondence as well as our contract has my name listed first. DH is listed second. I assume it was because I made the contact with our rep. The funny thing is that I am a SAHM and DH has the good job . It doesn't bother him as we get to go to Disney
