....A 69 point AKV contract!:cool1:  :cheer2: Just got a call back from my guide, and I put the whole thing on my airline credit card so I can earn miles from it too.

I have a few clarifications for folks too. There is a time line for when the different phases are to be added. Phases 1,2, and 3 will be in the main lodge. Phase 1 will be finished by September with phases 2,3 planned to open spring of '09. Phases 4 and 5 will be in the new building, and will open sometime after that. He had no concrete knowledge of if the new building had been started yet or not. I also asked if all room classifications would be availble in all phases, and he said yes.

Congratulations! If I could say Welcome Home in swahili I would.
Really smart with the credit card too...

Interesting? I thought there were only 3 phases.
Phase 1 was the renovation of rooms in the existing building. Opening on Sept. 1st 2007.
Phase 2 and 3 were phases for the new building. The new building was opening in early 2009.

Original Press Release

October 11, 2006, Lake Buena Vista, FL - Disney Vacation Club announced today that it is building a new timeshare resort on Walt Disney World property to meet ongoing strong demand for its unique vacation-ownership program.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas will be part of Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, which Travel & Leisure Family magazine recently honored with the No. 4 spot on its list of the 50 greatest family resorts in the United States and Canada. The Disney Vacation Club accommodations will feature intricate African-inspired details and home-like amenities, and most will offer sweeping views of an expanded savannah inhabited by a variety of African animals. These new accommodations are scheduled for development in phases with an anticipated opening beginning in fall 2007 and a completion date planned for Spring 2009. The project's first phase will include 134 remodeled accommodations on the fifth and sixth floors of the existing Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, and subsequent phases will include construction of 324 Vacation Homes in a new village of buildings, for a total of 458 Disney Vacation Club homes.

The project also calls for construction a new table-service restaurant, a themed pool and water-play island, fitness center, merchandise shop, sports-and-recreation facilities and more.

"We continue to see strong demand from families who want to build a lifetime of unforgettable memories by vacationing in ways they never dreamed possible," said Jim Lewis, President of Disney Vacation Club. "I am delighted to announce that our members will have yet another place to call home with Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas. This begins another exciting new era for Disney Vacation Club as we continue to explore future destination possibilities both domestically and internationally."

Disney Vacation Club, now celebrating its 15th anniversary, offers flexibility and savings on decades of future vacations at Disney destinations and more than 500 other vacation hotspots around the world. Membership has doubled since 2000 to include more than 100,000 families, which represents more than 300,000 individuals from more than 100 countries and every U.S. state.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas will be the eighth Disney Vacation Club Resort, joining five others at the Walt Disney World Resort, one in Vero Beach, Florida, and one on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Memberships have sold out at the first six Disney Vacation Club Resorts, and sales remain ahead of schedule at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, which opened in May 2004.

The phase 2,3,4, and 5 info came from a timeline my guide had on his desk from the DVC heirarchy. I think he said 2,3,4 and 5 are in the new building, but he seemed to think part of phase 2 was also in the lodge. The interesting thing he said was that there would be all room classifications in EACH phase! Not sure I believe that about the CC level though.

Congratulations! If I could say Welcome Home in swahili I would.
I did a web search this morning and the closest thing I could find is "karibu" which means "welcome" or "come in".

Does anyone here on the boards know a bit of Swahili or know someone who does? Of maybe someone who is going to AKL sometime soon could ask one of the African CMs there to translate "Welcome home!" for us?

When I saw the "karibu" I remembered seeing a thread with the title
"karibisha nyumbani! "
Is that what that means? Welcome Home?
If not, never mind.

Miss Diane:

I would be most pleased to offer you very attractive financing for your purchase if needed. I promise it won't cost both an arm and a leg.

Respectfully,

Jimmy

karibisha nyumbani! According to the Swahili to English dictionary I found via Google, translates as: Kobayashi Maru. Check out Star Trek TOS for the details/definition.

Jimmy

Congrats Diane!! Now we can start having those DIS/DVC meets out on the Savanna or by that cool looking pool:thumbsup2 Have fun enjoying your new home!!

"The Internet Living Swahili Dictionary" http://research.yale.edu/cgi-bin/swahili/main.cgi won't translate "karibisha nyumbani" from Swahili to English, nor will it translate "welcome home" from English to Swahili so I looked up each word individually.

Swahili to English:
karibisha: approximate, bring closer, invite, make welcome, welcome
nyumbani: at home, home

English to Swahili:
Welcome: -karibisha, karibisho, karibu, etc.
Home: nyumbani, etc.

So, "karibisha nyumbani" sounds plausible to me.

Miss Simpson:

I am not allowed to post links yet.

But once I am, I will give you my link for the Swahili form of welcome home (10 Posts I believe). However I used your link, which I also am not permitted to quote do to my post count.

Jimmy

I believe "matokeo ya utafutaji" means "Search results". The "kwa" on the end means: in respect to, for, from, of, according to...

ETA: Translated literally, word for word, I get the following:

Matokeo -- consequence, result
ya -- of, by, they, they do, it does, them
Utafutaji -- investigation, research, search
kwa -- in respect to, for, from, of, according to

So I think "Matokeo ya Utafutaji kwa" means "Result of search for".
