I just read on EasyWDW that MK is opening everyday now in December at 8am. This is such BS. I am sorry but do they not think about people who have put so much time into planning. Why freaking offer before opening ADR or BBB openings if its not going to benefit you at all. I am almost in tears as this was one of the most excited things I was looking forward to for our trip. We have to very small kids and we cannot wait in every line for 30 plus minutes. We have a ADR at CP on the 9th at 8:10 and that was ruined because of Parade tapping now my daughters BBB on the 12th is now going to not be as exciting because we will be weaving in and out of crowds to get to our appointment and not be able to get that shot of an almost empty main street. I could scream right. I am so mad. I understand some people like these changes but again why offer these times if your just going to screw over everyone who pays a crap ton of money for a trip and just wants those extra special moments.

I'm sorry. It has to be so frustrating. The opening hours turned out better for us, but I know there are loads of people who planned for a 9 am opening whose carefully laid plans are now a wreck. I hope most people don't realize that it's changed and show up at 9 anyway. :lmao:

The main benefit for an early morning ADR for alot of people isn't to simply beat the lines in the park. It is a good strategy when applicable, but alot of people are just early risers and want something to eat and aren't looking for any additional benefits other than what they pay for.

Sorry your plans got all messed up, but relax and just try keep things flexible. Everything will work out magical.

I'm sorry you are so upset. Disney changes park hours all of the time, I've even had them change while I was on vacation.

To be fair, I don't think they sell those early ADRs and BBB reservations as pre park opening. They just fill the slots.

This subject has a few other threads going too. And on one of them another poster stated that even before park opening their pictures were not of an empty park, so many people book those early reservations now that it is all but impossible to get pics of an empty park.

Try to not focus on it too much, and stay focused on how special all of those things will be anyway. BBB will still be magical. Breakfast with Winnie the Pooh will be too.

I picked all our days based on times and not doing EMH and I was up at 6am to get those early morning ADR for a reason. Now being done with our ADR and BBB at 9am. What is our chance on getting any rides done that we want to before our FP start because I started those later in the morning thinking we'd get a few done before our FP started. Now lines will be all built up an hour into opening. I get that some people like getting there early and taking advantages of riding rides but I really dont think opening a park that early every day is really fair. Does anyone know how early I can get into the park for an 8:15 BBB. Will they still let us enter before 8 since we will need to walk all the way to the castle and really cant spend time stuck in the mob of people walking through RD? Guess the only good thing is my DH can take DS on a ride instead of sitting and waiting for DD at BBB.

WDW apparently thinks if you made a restaurant reservation you did it to get into the restaurant. I don't know if they are taking into account those who make the reservation just because they want to be in the park before everybody else for whatever reason. I suppose they have decided that offering an earlier opening to give many more guests time in the park was worthwhile enough to cause disappointment to the relative few who were counting on their meal reservations being before park opening.

I have thought that if WDW knew what they were doing they would offer very limited early park access (just to Main Street, not the whole park) and charge for it. People would pay it. But then they could never extend the morning hours.

I get that some people like getting there early and taking advantages of riding rides but I really dont think opening a park that early every day is really fair.

Fair to whom? Obviously it's not fair to you or to anyone else who due to prior plans cannot now be waiting at the rope at 8 to get to the rides quickly. But there's an extra hour in the park now. Many other guests are going to like that idea in what is apparently going to work out to be a crowded time. WDW can't please everybody.

Thanks I think I am just so upset because I really worry about lines too and was hoping to get on a few rides without waiting a long time. I get its Disney and its busy and I am taking a chance going. My kids are 2.5 and almost 6 and we just cant do a ton of long lines. May sound silly. Last time we went I had no plans at all my son was 9 months and it was a disaster I've spent so much time researching and working on these plans in hopes that our trip goes smooth and we have a chance to really experience a lot. An hour after park opening whats the chance that we'll get Aladdins carpets, POC, Jungle Cruise and maybe Tree house done before say 10:30? Obviously we still have the same amount of time to get them done but now there will be gosh knows how many more people in the park.

Why not try and switching some of the ADRs to lunches (early or late) so you can take advantage of the early opening, still have your ADRs and use your FP+?

Try to stay calm and change the things you can control, not worry about what you can't.

The lines will not be that long an hour after park open. Usually you are go to go for at least 2 hours. Most people like to sleep in.

You didn't pay extra for early morning ADR or BBB. It would have been the same if you scheduled in the afternoon. You just tired to plan to get in early to avoid a crowd but it didn't work out. Put the kids in a stroller and make your way through the crowd. It will all workout just fine. :)

From a business perspective it makes perfect sense to open earlier and get people's money earlier (and more money. LoL). No, Disney is not thinking of a small handful of people's reservations compared to the increased in profits they will make by opening earlier.

You are going before the Christmas crowds ramp up. The real crowds don't start until around the 19th or so. You'll be fine. You'll have reasonable ride times without FP. You can walk from the turnstiles to the castle in less than 10 minutes even with crowds so even if you don't get in before 8, you won't be late for your appt.

As far as the BBB she is only missing out of on pictures without others in the background (and having to walk to the appointment through a more crowded area instead of empty main street). By the time the BBB appointment is over, the park would have been open and lines anyways.

Plans have to be flexible. Things beyond your control can change. Disney changes times all the time, rides break, weather changes. The best thing is knowing where you can easily change things. Our October trip had a day where it was a high of 50 and incredibly windy. Anyone that had Blizzard Beach planned, most likely changed their trip around, I traded my Kali River Rapids FP for a Lion King one. Worrying about the exact format of your plans, especially with young kids that never lend themselves to plans just causes to much frustration.

No I know that were not paying more for those things I just meant paying for things that def are not cheap. But I get it, I just thought we were in the clear when they posted the other time changes earlier. I still dont get why they do this I mean I guess I do but at the same time like I said I think its crappy regardless or ADR or whatever. People plan these trips so far in advance then to just be slapped in the face with something new right before your trip sucks when you're dropping thousands on a vacation.

Our appointment is at 8:15 and we are doing a small package not picking out dress or anything so I am pretty certain we would be out of there by 9. I know the park is not Empty but its at least not full on crowded and there is a better chance for a good picture with less possibly no people in it.

We were at Disney the last two years when they changed to 8 a.m. openings on certain days with no notice. There was no one in the park at 8:00 a.m. Adventureland is pretty much a ghost town until after 11:00, even during the summer. Even the late arriving people go to Fantasyland or the Mountains when they stroll in at 10:30, so Adventureland doesn't start getting busy until much later in the day than the other areas of the park. You'll probably get all those rides you listed done in under an hour at 9:00 a.m.

Wow. Has MK historically done 8am thru all of December?

Thanks. This makes me feel better. I just dont like change and I know I have to accept it with going to a place like this. I need to just not worry. Everything was just going great for our planning and everything we'd gotten and then the Parade tapping happened and now this. I am waiting for something else crap to happen like 40 degree weather all week.
