I am so upset.

Yeah, I got screwed out of Extra Magic Hours for one of my MK nights in September because they had to keep the park closed for some stupid private party. (Some Christian music festival or something :sad2:)

They really shouldn't change the hours within like a month or so. People have their plans all ready and it screws everything up.

Now no offense Tony but you didn't do your homework. Night of Joy has been ongoing in Sept for years, this wasn't one of those last minute spring it on you kind of deals. The dates in Sept are fully publicized. Not sure exactly when in Sept ( the beginning I think ) as I have never been BUT I certainly have heard of it. I doubt there is any WDW info website, or book, that doesn't make note of it.

Luvchefmic you're right... now that I think about it, it wasn't for Night of Joy. They changed the day AFTER that.

There were a few thread about the sudden changes for a few September days. So it definitely wasn't Night of Joy.

So my apologies to all the Christian music fans out there!

Almost everyone I know learns something new on every trip. Last time you learned you needed to plan more. This time you learned that you can still plan as much, but plan in a way that keeps things flexible.

I'm leaving next Wednesday so I feel your pain, but you gotta own it, accept it and move on.

Outstanding advise here...............flexibility is the key. ;)

Don't let it ruin your trip.........look at it as the worst case is you've maybe got to modify your path.........instead of going right.......you may have to go left. In the end its still WDW :thumbsup2

Hope you vacation is full of fun and wonderful memories!!! pixiedust:

If I ever decide to come here to blow off steam just shoot me. Please.

You can do it, just not with Disney as your antagonist. Come here to pontificate about how rude other people are, for instance, and you'll have to make more room on your soap box. :duck:

I'm not saying it's a negative thing, or a bad thing. I just don't think crowds are tremendously increasing at these points in December. Schools aren't letting out any earlier than they ever have...in fact, because of when Christmas falls this year, many schools are staying in school until much closer to the holiday than in other years. I know DH's mom, who works in an elementary school, doesn't get off until Dec 22nd.

The weeks after the Christmas parade taping, but before the 19th/20th or so of December have traditionally been lower crowd times. If they were going to experiment with the FP+ system, I'd expect them to do it then rather than over the holidays where they'll have capacity crowds. That theory seems to play out in Disney's execution, given the FP+ only tests in Sept and Oct.

I still don't get this. And the simple solution really is what this is. They're opening the parks early because they are accommodating demand. They test FP+ all the time. They test it during the day, they test it on computer simulations, they sample people, they run surveys, they doll new FP+s out and watch the trends as they get picked up, they analyze gigabytes of data on this stuff I'm sure. But they do not open a park early and bring in thousands of staff costing a small fortune as a FP+ test.

To say "you don't know that isn't the case so it very well could be"... well... whatever. If you want to think it's a FP+ test then great. That's such an absurdly out-there reasoning for why they'd open a park earlier when Disney opens the park early all the time, based on demand. I'd be willing to bet every day the execs in charge of scheduling the parks have a meeting, and they go over sales and forecast, and they decide if the hours are sufficient to handle the anticipated guests for the day, the week, the month, and probly even the next few months. There is never a case where IT approaches management and says "hey boss we need you to open the park early this day so we can test something."

Life is pretty good when your complaint is that WDW is giving you MORE time in MK.

I would call to see if some of your reservations can be re-arranged. You can call the restaurants directly.

WHAT!!! There are no rude people in the happiest place on earth!!!

;)

I guess I should go on those threads and insult all those people and tell them they are being big babies

Don't worry there are plenty of people who have that covered. LOL But seriously, I am sorry your plans got spoiled. I think those who go all the time or read every single post on here don't remember that not everyone has the knowledge they do about all the changes Disney tends to make. There are a LOT of them believe me. And they do tend to do it at the last minute without taking anyone's plans into consideration. Look at the TSMM standbyless line test. That one caused a great deal of venting. You have the right to vent, but there will always be people with differing opinions and some tend to state them a little more strongly than others. I hope whatever you decide, your plan works out and you have a great trip.
