I'm trying to be fair and accurate in describing what happened. My husband was not injured, but only because he stepped back. The guy did touch him with his chest/shoulder. We were not questioned for three hours straight, multiple people talked to us multiple times.
How we know they let the guy go is that they told us so. They told us that getting scolded by law enforcement and the Disney security gets people to calm down and not do it again.
I however think that it could go either way, the guy could get even more aggravated.
They did ask what we wanted, initially I asked to go backstage on a particular attraction, they said no. Asked for one of the tours, also a no, resort upgrade for only one night, any room that will go empty, also a no. But aftrreach request he left to check with someone, never offered any similar alternatives, only fast passes, and they were offering a single one to an specific ride.
Why ask me what I want if I don't really have an option? Specially when I'm upset. That's messed up. They should never offer to call the cops if it's not warranted as some of you say, or to get our statements. I would have preferred further to be upfront from the Start and not pretend that they were going to do anything.
Whole situation would have been avoided if her husband had kept his mouth shut! Why is it his business, as I stated if a concern go to CM and explain situation. He isn't the Disney police. No the guy didn't need to put his hands on the OP's husband, but the husband isn't totally the innocent victim (he instigated the whole thing by opening his mouth).
You're only getting one side of the story, and while I'm always on the DISers side I do wonder how it was presented to this man to make him react like this.

had I turned the switch and got loud I would be at fault?
He could be a wacko and pull out a knife or gun (since Disney does not have metal detectors).
We were talking about this during our last trip. The whole bag check thing seemed so ridiculous when they didn't bother to check pockets, waistbands, etc. A crazy person could do some serious damage in these parks. Scary. Living in CO where we've had so many school shootings and then the theater shooting, I tend to think of these things, especially when I'm in crowded places.
A few years ago my husband thought he could get away with not going through bag check since he just had a small pouch under his shirt by his waist band. I didn't notice it under his shirt but as soon as we entered the park an under cover security person asked to see under his shirt. So even though the bag checks don't seem like they are doing anything Disney security is really on top of things like that.
