I know I should be happy for my sister, but I really at this point am just upset.

Her boss just paid $2775.14 to send her and her two daughters to Disney this coming Sunday through Thursday at GF in a lodge tower room with the silver package and a reservation at the Wonderland Tea Party! Oh, she gets spending money too!

I work forever to afford a vacation and am staying at the value resorts and making lunch in the room. Again, I know I should be happy for her that she is getting such a great gift for just being herself but she hardly works at all and she gets great stuff all the time!

I am going in the other room now and try to count my blessings of the things I have in the world to treasure. Thanks for letting me vent.:wave2:

If it makes you feel better, she's going to be taxed for the value of the trip on her income taxes. That help? ;)

I feel your pain!! I have been in similar situations with family members myself. You just have to count your blessings! You will have more fun planning your vacation than she did! Think you will really be on vacation for a whole year--if you count all of the planning!

What the heck does she do for a living? I don't know if I would feel comfortable with a "gift" like that. Is her boss male or female?

You shouldn't be upset, you should be happy for her, she's your sister. Just think how happy and excited your nieces are that their going to disney. I guess its normal to be alittle envious, but, I can't see being upset about some one elses good fortune, especially one of my family members.

My friends boss gave his family a trip to disney world. But his wife is so ungrateful. She got upset that they didnt buy her oldest son a ticket. (He is the only one that needs one as the others are under 2. ) HE bought their tickets, hotel, and flew them there and she was mad.

I hope she was at least grateful..I am sure it is hard for you.

btass...
don't be so hard on yourself...that green-eyed monster gets the best of me on many occasions! It's hard when you work so hard and others seem to get so many perks just handed to them...but, remember, your hard work and positive energy will be returned to you when you need it!

Yeah, I second that.. what DOES she do?

I understand your mixed emotions, that's rough!

Is there a reason she is getting this gift? Sounds kinda strange to me!

I may be reading your post the wrong way, but maybe you don't like what you are doing for a living and you should look into a change?

Everyone should try to have a job they enjoy!

PS - Your kids will appreciate the trip you are giving them more than the trip your sister's kids are going on in the long run. As an adult, I now look back and love and appreciate everything my parents did for us when we were in tough times. If everything was just on a silver platter for us all the time, I think I'd be a different person now because of it!

  Why is it assumed that A.) her sister's kids won't appreciate the trip as much and B.) that everything is handed to them (or her sister for that matter) on a silver platter?

{{{HUGS}}} I know how you feel and its crummy to feel that way. Try and be happy for her, which I am sure deep down you are. Look at it this way....you are still going to Disney, there are many who have never been and probably wont ever be able to go. I have only gone twice and although I am envious of those who go once or twice a year I am grateful for the times I have gone. I think its always better when we feel the way that you do, to do exactly what you said...count your blessings. Once again...{{{HUGS}}}

She must be doing something right at work to be receiving such a great gift.

Be happy for her, and enjoy your vacation. :)

WHY? Why would a person get an all expense trip to WDW................is there hanky-panky going on??? :p

was it the 14 cents that pushed you over the edge? :p

I think you pegged it! I used to like my job, a lot! But in the last year my workload has tripled and from what it looks like it will keep tripling every year. I do not get anything more for it but headaches and indigestion. I think I do need a new job but I haven't done anything about it. (Maybe I should!)

Just a note to add: I am the "little sister" who has the same vision as in the Brady Bunch - Marsha! Marsha! Marsha! she gets everything handed to her on a silver platter! Most of the time I am fine with it, I get stuff too but this time it just hit me the wrong way and I had to vent.

Countdown to my Birthday at WDW!!!

Countdown to DS`s Birthday at WDW!!!

Hold the phone! I just realized the OP has not one but TWO trips to WDW in the next 3 months.

I had to cancel the December one this morning and since I booked the September one, it has been cancelled and redone twice! Because of work.
