I am so tired of people who say all coupons are for junk!

Yoplait Greek yogurt is horrible! Tastes so bad(I tried it--with a FREE coupon!:rotfl:) I buy Oikos or Chobani, usually, because that's what my stores carry. It's getting easier to find, though.

How is my list junk? You don't buy butter, sugar, eggs, flour? Deodorant??:scared1:
And it all depends on the stores you shop--bleach is cheaper for me at the Commissary and with a coupon. I know not everyone can use the Commissary, of course.

The list I gave was only for the items on which I used coupons, not my entire grocery order.

Several months ago, there were booklets at Publix with $1 Chobani coupons in them. It then went on sale for $1! We stocked up, even froze a bunch because we just couldn't eat it all! LOL

I've been watching for another good Chobani coupon to show up!

LOL !

I guess she means catalinas . Those are the coupons that print out when you are checking out at the store.

I have never heard of those, and I guess when you put it that way it makes sense. However not as funny.

I :lovestrucThe Princess Bride! I had to force my husband to watch it--same with my son. They both thought it was a "Princess" movie:lmao: Now they quote it all the time.:cheer2:

Love this movie! Has been a favorite since I was a preteen. Coupons are definitely regional. Down here they are mostly for processed junk. There are some for toiletry products, cleaning products but for milk or produce, no. The only time I see a dairy product seems to be attached to say some refrigerated cookies and its usually get free milk if you buy 3 biscuits, cookies, etc. And I rarely see this. I have seen a lot of the southern posters complain about junk for coupons. My theory is this: we as a whole buy a lot of this so therefore they market this to us. I personally do not and know a lot of dis posters don't either but many of my friends and family do and I notice this when grocery shopping as well. As for double coupons, forget about it down here. I used to work in a grocery store in high school. Most grocery's got rid of them during that time and that was almost 20 years ago. Just my thoughts.

THe point is that there are no coupons for GOOD HEALTHY foods:

apples
bananas
fish
grapes
carrots
lettuce
broccoli
cauliflower
asparagus
green beans

So fish and fresh fruit/vegetables are the only "HEALTHY" foods? Olive oil can't ever be healthy? Bread, milk, cheese, yogurt, and eggs can't ever be healthy?

Obviously that was only a partial list. I thought that went without saying. Guess not.

i WISH we could get coupons for things like milk, bread, eggs, cheese, yogurt, and fruits & veggies. the wal-mart supercenter has driven all but one grocery store and the new aldi store out of business in my town, and, of course, wal-mart doesn't do grocery coupons, and the other store is so small, they just really can't compete with wal-mart's and aldi's prices.
the one thing i do, though, is to price-match. if the other store, or one that's within 20 miles, has produce on sale, i price-match at wal-mart. i also go to aldi, which is across the street from wal-mart, and get my milk and some of my produce.
i save money this way, but i'm sure not nearly as much as if we had a store that published coupons for milk, bread, eggs, etc.

THANK YOU OP! I just can't stand reading it anymore. It's not all crap and you are COMPLETELY right, they don't want to take the time.

Yes, their are dole salad coupons all the time.

Last week I signed up for driscoll's berries newsletter and it came with a 55 cent off coupon.

If you are using a reusable bag, most stores will take off 5 cents.

Sometimes my grocery store will print off a coupon for 2.00 off beef, chicken or tuna.

They don't want to get it. They don't want to invest the time. Not all of us are hoarders, some of us just like to save money, yet they always seem to put us all down.

Yes, I proudly buy processed food. Yes, I buy canned vegetables sometimes. Yes, I EVEN BUY CANDY. But wait, it gets worse I BUY SUGAR CEREAL TOO. OH MY GOD! Guess what, my daughter isn't overweight AT ALL. And you know what, she is active. And she is healthy. You know I've taught her other values, save money, stay active and watch your portion control. Silly mom I am.

I'm thankful I don't have to pay for soap, dish soap, laundry soap, deodorant, razors, medicines, etc any more. It frees up my money for other things.

I just wish people would stop saying couponers only get junk. Stop putting people down.

I disagree. I often get coupons for Dole salad bags which I use a lot and just last week I had several coupons for $1 off produce when buy two boxes of kellogg's cereal - I bought raison bran. I also had coupons for free gallon of milk when buy two boxes. So for about $5, I got two boxes of raison bran, a gallon of milk and two pounds of apples.

And, I use the overage of coupons to pay for meat and produce. As I said in another thread, I paid $21 for a multitude of items that would have cost $171 total, but I also now have $21 in cats which I can use on anything which will pay for my produce and/or meat. YOu just have to be smart about it. And my store never doubles coupons except on RARE occasions (and only three at most a trip); and I can still do these deals.

Love Cats.... I had $18 worth of cats for 4 weeks in a row that I used towards fruit and veggies.

I have also got free milk a few times the past few weeks with buying cereal for next to nothing.

I will be happy to take all of my free "junk" home everyweek. ;)

Where did anyones say that couponers only get junk? I think the ones saying anything similar to that are saying that most COUPONS are for junk. See the difference?

Obviously that was only a partial list. I thought that went without saying. Guess not.

You're missing the point.

Person A (and persons B, C, D, etc.) say "ALL coupons are for junk."

The OP says "Not ALL coupons are for junk. Look, I found some coupons for healthy food."

Person A comes back and says "But there weren't coupons for fresh fruit and vegetables and fish. Therefore, ALL coupons are for junk."

Do you not see the problem with the logic here? I thought it went without saying. Guess not.

Wow! Where do you get the coupons for your milk, eggs, and butter? Would love to find coupons for these items! :thumbsup2

Unfortunately for my area, all the coupons are for high in fat, boxed, processed foods which we don't eat. We do get quite a bit of coupons for oral hygiene products, makeup, body products, etc. But would love more 'food' products.

Would love to know about your dairy coupons!:)

If you dont get them in your local paper there are many coupon clipping services and also ebay. I buy coupons from both.

But that's not what the OP said. She said that coupons weren't just for junk. Not that she used the money she saved to buy good stuff.

I have never gotten or seen a coupon for fresh produce. They have been on sale, but in my circulars I have never seen a coupon for them.

They are not often in circulars. But they are on hang tags often. Plus in the store ads.

I was just snail-mailed some coupons from the grocery store and there was one for $3 off any meat or seafood. Also $8 off $80 order - so you can use that for fruit and veggies.

And I maintain it depends where you live is what kind of coupons you get. Where I live we get junk, plain and simple. Know what my coupons were last week in my paper? All Pillsbury products. Biscuits, rolls, cinnamon buns, cookies and bread. That was it. That's all I got. I don't eat that junk, so they were worthless to me. I do get coupons for detergents, but I also have a family with allergies and $.35 off Tide really saves me a whole lot there :headache:. I can save a whole dollar off Eggland's Best eggs with a coupon, but at my store they are $4, while store brand eggs are just under $2.

Are MOST coupons for processed and junk foods or not? Yes, they are. Sure, there may be some coupons out there for some healthier options but they are few and far between. And coupons for fresh veggies, produce, fish, chicken, meat, etc are even harder to find. That is my point. No need to get all *****y with me. Geeze.

Sounds like we get the same coupons. I rarely find one that I will use. Although I will use the Eggland's Best ones. I have never gotten a coupon for milk or fresh (not bagged salad) produce except from the store itself. I also do so much of my shopping at Trader Joe's and there are no coupons there.

I will clip if it is one I would use but out of the regular weekend coupons, it would be rare for me to get more than 3 each week.

In the end...it isn't worth the cost of my time (cutting coupons/dealing w/ recycling everything) and the weekly (or Sunday) newspaper for the $2-$3/week savings I "may" get for the few items I would be able to find coupons for.

I would rather do the majority of my shopping at stores that have healthier options (Trader Joe's, etc) that cost less than comparable "healthy" options in the regular supermarket.

I find that buying paper and cleaning products at warehouse stores (BJs/Costco), healthier food items at Trader Joe's, and a minimal shopping trip to the traditional supermarket is the most cost effective way to feed our family.

Would I save a few dollars if I put the time and effort into cutting coupons? Yup, but the few items on my list that they would apply to can't justify the time...which I just don't have.. that would need to be invested.

Am I saying that if you cut coupons you eat like crap...nope. What I am saying is that it takes a time investment to cut and use coupons effectively. When my family stopped eating trans fats, high fructose corn syrup, and artificial sweeteners that cut a HUGE swath through the coupons that are available in our area and I found that I had very few usable ones for what we were buying.

FWIW, we still eat processed foods, just not ones w/ the three things we've cut from our diets. TJs has a bunch of easy frozen meal options that we do all the time. I just can't find comparable ones in my supermarket that don't contain one of the three that we don't eat!

I don't get ANY of my coupons from a newspaper. I don't even get a newspaper. I use ebay, clipping services, and manufacturer's websites of the products I buy. I couldn't tell you what comes in my inserts. A sunday paper here is 2.00, I can buy the coupon of what I want for 12 cents from a couponing service.

I only have 2 people in my family. Me and my daughter. I don't find I save the most money on food with coupons, I feel I save the most money on the household items, plus pet items.

I've never saved 90%, but I always save 50% no matter where I go. Coupons and store sales.

Knock it all you want. If you try, if you look, you can make it work. But you have to put the time into it.

That was my point...I find I save enough purchasing smartly using sales and warehouse stores w/o having to depend on coupons alone.

I also utilize in store coupons or ones that are attached to items. I just don't sit w/ the paper each week coupon cutting and organizing.
