Will I ever enjoy another cruise line? Friends of mine just got back from a Carnival cruise and while looking at their pictures, I couldn't help think how spoiled I really am (I was actually gloating to myself). The DCL staterooms are by far much better than other lines, the CMs seem to be more personable and the ship itself by far is more beautiful. I have only cruised once - on DCL, and don't know if I would actually enjoy another line. We have booked again for September on DCL so by then I will be sure to really be hooked!

I am with you amgpmg, We have only sailed once and it was with DCL. I cannot see ever switching. I picked up a Carnival brochure at a TA just for giggles and it just reconfirmed my way of thinking. We are not rich, (DH in USAF) but I will spend a whole year saving for my DCL vacation before I would waste a lesser amount going on another cruiseline. Yes, I know RCCL is much better than Carnival and some say comparable to DCL, but I will stick with my MAGIC! A cruise just wouldn't be a cruise to me without the mouse!:earsgirl:

Yes, you're spoiled. And so is my family, and the thousands of others who prefer DCL!::yes::

There's nothing wrong w/that. We've done the top of the line.

And makaylee, I'm w/you 100%. We're not wealthy, but we'd rather save our $$ for DCL than get a better deal on a lesser cruise line. I'm the same way whenever I look at other cruise line brochures or websites. I'd rather stay at home, because I know it wouldn't be Disney. (DH and DD are the same way.)

I posted this same question...and after reading that one families exp. with RCCL...I really dont see me and my BF on that cruise line...he has even mentioned that he won't board any other ship...So yes you spoiled yourself and it was worth EVERY penny!
I'm hoping we will go back in 2006...every other year can't be too bad.

well,i moved to orlando so i can work for the mouse and go on DCL little cheaper since i am florida resident now.:jumping1: :boat: :jumping1:

Well, I can't wait for my first Disney cruise, and I am sure I won't ever go back to Carnival or RCCL, but for the record, I have cruised both lines twice and I prefer Carnival for many reasons, but their food is actually better. And, in answer to many posts here about alcohol, Carnival allows you to bring up to six bottles of any soda, beer or wine on board. Not sure about liquor, I snuck that on!

I AGREE!!! We are going on our first cruise ever, & of course it's DCL. But I'm starting to think that maybe we should have tried the other cruise lines first because I know I'll always be dissapointed!! We did the same with WDW, we went there a bunch of times & then went somewhere else & we were SOOO dissapointed!! I know that had we gone there befor WDW we would have loved it, beautiful room, opened onto the sand, beach all day, pool at night, hot tubs rest & relaxation.... and even with all of that it was just "Not Disney" as I stated at LEAST 4 times aday throughout the whole trip!!

Here's to remaining spoiled in all ways by the magic & wonder of Disney!!:boat:

:wave2: This will be my family's first cruise(5/23 Wonder). I am the only one that has ever been on a cruise and it was on Carnival Glory in August 2003. We(family women) had a blast and it was a trip that I will never forget! The service in all areas was great, and so was the food!!! I do not understand all the complaints that I read about CCL?!?! We(family women) are going on RCCL Mariner of the Seas in September. Then, I will be able to compare the differences in all three cruise lines!

Princess49...I have had a dream for my DH and I to take our kids on a DC since 1999!!! My dream is finally coming true!!! We have gone to WDW a couple of times a year since 1999 and feel the same as you do. Nothing compares to that "magic" feeling we get when we go there!!!

Before we cruised DCL last Easter, I had been on 3 Carnival cruises. I loved the first 2 (before I had kids). I couldn't begin to imagine why anyone would pay twice as much to go on Disney (even though we are Disney fanatics). My last Carnival cruise.... I wasn't happy with Carnival when I sailed with my young children. Maybe it was just the older ship, but all of a sudden I was thinking we might want to give Disney a try. So, last Easter, we tried the 3 day wonder. What a difference. WE had so much fun that rwe ebooked while onboard (for this Easter) and we just booked a 3 day for Thanksgiving.

I think to me the biggest difference is how much there is for us to enjoy as a family. On Carnival I felt like we had to ditch the kids in the clubs to have fun...and the club hours were pitiful. On Disney our kids were probably in the clubs for about 3 hrs a day. The bulk of that time came later at night. Most of the time they were in because there was something they wanted to attend and of course a little adult time was nice too. I was so impressed at how many different things we could all enjoy though. Now, I'm afraid to try anything else.

When the kids are in their tweens we might try one of the bigger RCCL ships. The rock climing wall, mini golf, ice skating etc sound like fun for that age (as well as for the adults). Even then, I'm afraid I'll spend the whole time comparing it to Disney.

Add my family to the list of spoiled cruisers. We cruised the Wonder in 2001. We've been on Carnival and RCCL since and neither came close to the outstanding experience we had on Disney. Sure it is a little more $$, but well worth it when our children go on & on about the Disney boat with Mickey.
Kids say the funniest things.:D

This reminds me of a pillow I saw recently at the store ( plan to put it on a shirt ). It said I'm not spoiled, just well taken care of !

My family & I have also only sailed with DCL... I'm sooo afraid to sail another cruise line. We have friends that want us to go on a cruise from Boston to Bermuda (they don't fly) it would be without the kiddies.... I just don't want to be disappointed.....I'm really partial to the Mouse:)

Sanela, you managed to fulfill my dream. When DD is out of school, I'm already talking to DH about doing what you did. Move to FL and work for the mouse.

It never fails to amaze me how people can bash a cruiseline that they've never sailed. You see the same thing over at cruisecritics about DCL. I totally get that everyone will have their favorite, and that's great. But once everyone learns that you're cruising experience is entirely your own responsibility , everyone will see that they can have a good cruise, no matter what line they cruise.

I did sail Carnival. I don't think it's as simple as saying you can have a good time on any cruise. It's all right to have a personal preference. Carnival didn't offer enough for a young family (IMO). Disney is worth every extra penny for us....atleast at this point in time.

I am a Disney lover. I love Disneyland, Disney World, and just back from the Eastern Magic 2/7. I loved the cruise. Never cruised on any other cruise line. But, I will just wait to take all my six children and 2 of their spouses, in about 2 years when I have saved up enough money for the cruise and airfare out from California for all of them. We all love Disney, and I would rather wait, and only have Disney, than to try anything else. Now, DH and I might try a RCCL, but I love Disney. I love the Magic. Now was it our dinning partners and our wonderful servers that made it even more magical, sailed with MJ on this board and her family, or is it always that special, I don't know, But I can't wait to go again. :Pinkbounc :bounce:

it is just so peachy keen when I say "we're going on a Disney Cruise" this summer and the response is always WOW!, complete with big rounded eyes...

this will be our second DCL, and the NCL cruise we took on our honeymoon is not even in the same universe as DCL.

regardless of the sacrifices and penny-pinching, we'll never cruise with anyone but the Mouse again!

WOW!!!

My family (3 kids ages 10, 9 and 5) LOVED all of our cruises on all lines with the exception of Norwegian. We've sailed Carnival, Princess, RCCL and Disney. They all have really good things about them all if you're willing to look for it. There are things about Disney that we didnt like as much as we did on the other lines and vice versa. I think we've been on enough cruises to make an informed judgement and while yes they are different I dont know that you could say the others are terrible. Maybe we had a less than "wonder"ful experience on Disney and are going to try it again in May but we didnt think that it was superior in every way enough to justify the extra money it costs to go. Sure they do some things different than other lines but variety is the spice of life. We had terrible servers on Disney and we had to wait over 30 min to get drinks one night and they never even tried to entertain our kids at dinner even though our 3 year old was having meltdowns waiting. On Carnival we've never had that problem in the 12 cruises we've been on with them. Our dive excursion on Disney was subpar with those we've done on RCCL and Carnival for almost 35 dollars more per person. Our room on the 8th floor on Disney was twice as noisy as our rooms on the top deck of Princess. We liked the family stateroom on Disney but we got 2 cabins on RCCL for alot less than that family stateroom. Every cruise line has off days or differences but we've liked every cruise we've been on. Our kids preferred the kids club on the Carnival cruises just because they could all be together at their ages at the time. My kids hated that about Disney. They liked being together in the clubs. My kids did love the fresh water pools on Disney but missed the bigger waterslide on Carnival as did hubby and I because adults can go on it. Just my opinion but I think all lines have something great about them!

Heidi: May I ask specifically what you didn't like about Norwegian. We are considering a cruise this summer (loved DCL, but too expensive right now) and Norwegian seemed reasonably priced. I'd love to hear about your experience.
