I am so MAD!!!!

Call and tell them you are a party of three and you will get the ressie...I have had CM's do that for me before and other DISers have done that before

I can't believe that they would rather have an empty table sitting there that to have 2 adults sitting at it!!!
Of course they wouldn't.

But, they would rather have a family of four, or better yet, four adults sitting at it. ;)

Normally, at Le Cellier, this isn't an issue for Disney, because it books full anyway. Given that you are calling for just a week or so from now, perhaps that's not going to be true for the first time in a long time.

When I make ADRs for kid-free trips, I call first trying to get times for 2s. I take what I can get, and then call back making some for 4s at better times, cancelling the 2s. Sadly, when I get to the restaurant, "the other couple couldn't join us."

Flame away but I'd be calling back and asking for a party of 3. :rolleyes1 That is the lamest "rule" ever!

It's a flaw in their system, sadly. The CM can't do anything about making a change, but they can just book you a larger table. That's what we do if we get stuck...

I had the same problem when I tried to book the castle. It became like the episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm while I kept saying "you have a table for 4, but not a table for 2? But wouldn't 2 people fit at the table for 4?"

Yes, because they would rather fill all four seats and get four peoples' worth of orders, versus "losing money" on open seats. It's a restaurant thing.

Anyways, if you want the reservation that badly, make it for 3, and tell them someone was unable to join you after all when you arrive to check in. They'll understand, and it won't actually harm naybody in the long run. Good luck!

Last Oct. Dh and I booked a ressie at LeCellier for 4 people, cause we could not get the day and time we wanted...and I called on the 180 day. A couple of months before our trip, I posted on the Dis, an invite for any couple who wanted to join us for dinner to PM me.

To make a long story short.....we chatted with a couple, via email, for several weeks (prior to our trip) and ended up making great friends who shared a wonderful meal with us. It's a great way to make new friends and help out someone who was unable to book an ADR.:thumbsup2

This is totally ridiculous! We go to Disney 3 or 4 times a year, my wife and I, and we are rarely able to get Le Cellier for 2. The last 3 times we have gone, we would call daily to see if there was availability and of course there wasn't. Now we know why! We just called back for our trip coming up in Feb and asked for a party of 3 and we got our pick of lunch times. Total BS!!!

While we don't like the dishonest route, sometimes you can't hate the player, you have to hate the game.

Thanks to our fellow DIS'ers for enlightening us! We will include you in a toast while we are enjoying our lunch at Le Cellier!!!

I called to make reservations at O'Hana for 4 people on 1/1. The wonderful gentleman at WDW-DINE, told me they only had reservations after 9:00 p.m. However, he could get a table for 6 at 6:00 p.m. So he made the reservations for 3A, 1C, 2I. When we checked in, the hostess asked if there were 6 of us. I said, no 4. If pushed we were going to say "the babies" were asleep. She never asked and we had an amazing dinner.

I was able to get a table for 4 at LeCellier for 1/4. I honestly have to say it was the best steak I have eaten years.

It is definitely on our list for June again.

I ran into to this about a year ago at R&C. I walked up asking if they have room for 1 for either lunch or dinner. The reply was no, but we have room for 3 at dinner. The CM told me to take that one and then state that my dining partners changed their minds when I checked in.

This is one thing about Disney that truly bothers me. You would think a single person wouldn't have a hard time getting a table somewhere. I understanding wanting to get full tables, but it discriminates those who are not traveling with families. I've been wanting to get into Le Cellier for ages - never a seat for 1. I think I may have to try for a 3 top for my next trip.

Wow, now I wonder if this was what was really going on the last time we were at Epcot. I'd never made reservations for these restaurants in my life -- and I have been many times -- but for the heck of it, we decided to try to make a reservation for Akershus upon our arrival. Well, Akershus, and just about every single restaurant, was allegedly booked solid all weekend, for lunch and dinner. Supposedly there was some dining plan special going on (which we're not a part of). But now I'm thinking, maybe they just didn't want to book a party of 2.

The only thing we were finally able to get, was dinner reservations for 11:30 p.m. at Les Chefs de France. It worked out pretty nice because we were seated right at the window, where we got a clear view of Illuminations. So it was all very romantic :lovestruc And I might be mistaken, but I think that table may have incidentally been a 2-seater. I'm going to make reservation for 3 from now on

But if you do this for CRT, won't you get stuck paying for a phantom person?:confused3

Not if you make the third an infant. Or at least you shouldn't be, since you need to include under 3s on your reservations, but you don't have to pay for their meals.

Okay.... I just called back and got a reservation for 3...... I hope they will seat us. Wish us luck:wizard:

I've had a breeze making my adrs this time, last time we were a party of 7.

I have run into the opposite at the Garden View Tea (afternoon tea). I wanted a table for 4, but had to book two tables for two.
Now I know the tables in that place are pretty small, so I could understand. And I was hoping we could at least sit near one another.
It was a week day, end of the day and the place was nearly empty when we arrived. Of course we all got to sit together. :confused3
We ended up being the last guests of the day and each got a rose. :wizard:

Probably free dining. Most likely what you were told was absolutely the truth.

If there has been a free table, there has only been one place that would not seat DH and I without an ADR. It was Maya Grill, which is often an easy walk in. :confused3

So is it 'acceptable' to make an ADR for 3 when you really know that there will only be 2 of you? :confused3

Yep, this is acceptable if you want to eat. We have learned through the years to do the same thing.

Unfortunately, most the restaurants when we arrive are 1/2 full at best.
You would think disney would fix this problem, as a full restaurant with a well trained kitchen/front of the house staff should make more money. You would think they would want to be full every day/night if possible.

Really? That's weird. I've never had any trouble booking tables for 1 person at the restaurants. I even got Le Cellier last summer (and I was amazed to get it).
