Well in a nut shell there was a neighborhood cat that for the past month has been hanging out at my house and had a large lump sticking out of his back leg, well I for the past 3 weeks have been putting hot compress on it cleaning it out and then it started to split open so I questions the owner and asked if he was going to take the cat to the vets he said no so I told him I was taking him. I took him to the vets today and the lump was a large tumor the size of a peach, but was self contained and he should be just fine for me to pick up tomorrow. I'm so mad that I waited and didn't question the man who owned him sooner and taken him to the vets sooner but he will now be loved by a family who cares and he will be the only pet we have, so I hope I know what I am doing with him.

*Update*

The cat is home and doing well he's not quite sure what happened to him he has 37 stitches and the cut is like a Y what an ugly looking mess it is, but the best part is antibiotics for 7 days it just took me 20 minutes to do this as I didn't want to hurt him but he is eating and using the litter box so this should get easier I hope.

What a caring thing to do. It sounds like you already know what to do with your new pet, you have already taken better care of this cat than his former owner.

Is the cat litter trained? I hope so, so that you can make him an inside cat now :)

I'm sure one of our "cat people" here on the DIS will have lots of wonderful advice for you :)

So kind of you to take in the helpless little cat. And how lucky for the owner that you didn't report him to the ASPCA! How cruel--"people" like that make me furious! I'm so glad the sweetie will now have a happy home with you! :D

Yeah and Hooray to you! The world needs more people like you.

How sweet. I hope kitty will be feeling better tomorrow, I'm sure he/she will love his new home.

Shelby, you did good. :)

Good for you! Sounds like something I would do. I guess that's why we have a zoo at our house! ;)

You did a wonderful thing! The cat is very lucky to have you for his family now!

I applaud you for taking the cat to the vets Looks like he has found himself a new home with people that are going to take of him, what a lucky cat :bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Please don't be mad at yourself. You did a wonderful thing. You had no way of knowing that the owner of the cat was a jerk. Hope that the cat is okay....and glad to know he is going to have a good home.

Awwww! What a loving person you are! I'm so glad he's home and doing well!! Good luck to you and him!! :)

Way to go Shelby. I bet that kitty is so glad to have found his forever family. So what is his name?
