I am so lost

::yes:: Absolutely!

Just a suggestion - have you considered writing a blog? Not just a TR, but you're own blog. That way when you're not travelling you can be doing reviews and giving tips to other people who are planning. It's a great way to combine your passion for both travel and photography when you don't have much on the horizon.

There are heaps of us here who have our own blogs for this sort of reason - mine is http://becstravel.blogspot.com

I'd love to be a professional travel writer, and this let's me pretend :upsidedow

Bec, I have just spent quite a bit of time checking out your blog - reminds me, spend all your money on travel and not investment property!!! (and your own house, maybe super)
I went down that road when I was 18 - held a property for 7 years, bad tenants, the works and sold it just before prices tripled !
:headache::headache: NEVER AGAIN!!!!

It just amazes me how some people live - its just disgusting, and there is no excuse except laziness!!!
Im going to go clean something now!!!

Karen - i hear ya -- it HATE sand too. it gets everywhere. and it's basically just dirt :)

Bec - the idea of doing a blog does interest me, but not sure of how to get started & whether i'd have any readership. at least here on the DIS, someone is always listening :)

I find myself inspired by photography in a way that very little else inspires me. we haven't yet been blessed with kids, and i truly hope that we are in the next few years as we're getting older and realising that darn clock is tick, tick, ticking away.

i think we're gonna do this trip in november, but i feel so terrible at the moment. my grandma is being entered into respite care and taking care of her (she suffers from alzheimers) is taking such a toll on my mum & dad. my brother and sis-in-law are about to move house and they have baby boy #1 on the way, and we're talking about spending all this money to flit off to DLR again. i feel like i should be giving this money to mum & dad, or helping out my brother, or doing something more productive with the money... maybe making mum & dad go on holiday..

but as carlo says...we've worked hard and scrimped and saved for this. this is our priority -- travelling to DLR and WDW. we chose to put this money towards this, rather than investing in real estate or whatever else...

i just feel... bad for the others in my family that aren't getting to experience the wonder of disney.

Alicia,

I think you need to write everything down - maybe there is a twelve step process or something - first you have post trip high, then post trip blues, then rash next trip plans, then next trip guilt .... I dont know what is next ..:confused3

I am going out on a limb here and please dont get offended - but you are 30, have just had your first trip, and are now planning 3 in the next eighteen months - maybe that is a bit of overkill -

I am sure youre family is happy for you to travel, maybe one trip at a time- you are not asking them to pay. Seriously what sort of money are we talking - I reckon you could do a trip to DLR - WDW for $10,000 - a young working couple can raise this sort of money pretty easily- and I am sure youre family would rather see you working towards a goal than squandering money away on well, nothing really - nights out, coffee, more clothes than are necessary.

Enjoy it, because it gets a lot more expensive when you have kids, not only the travelling, but every other aspect of your life.
This morning I just spent $200 on new school uniform, and $400 on text books - for one DD who is not changing schools and her uniform is fine, except next year she will be senior. Even a simple Christmas costs the best part of $1000 - not to mention the $300 phone bill - and normal grocery bill of $300 per week and two children with braces!!

And yes, I have parents that are on the pension and boy did I feel guilty about the money I just spent on a holiday - but they are OK - they had their time.

Oh, to be in your position!!! (although I do love my kids!!!)

You only regret the things you don't do!!!

battymum, i hear you, and i think i've been a little all over the top with my expressions about the trip. i was pretty down when we first came back, and i have been up in the air about our plans. i'm not a hugely emotional person, but sometimes the turmoil comes out when i write, and this forum has maybe given me too much room to express how i feel.

we would much rather travel than put our money into an investment property or anything like that... we're young and we don't have kids, and trust me, it's not for lack of interest but medical reasons.

we've narrowed our plans down now to 1 x trip only, but incorporating both DLR and WDW and WWOHP in oct/nov 2012. then we'll see after that.

hope everyone has a fabulous day...
