I have been drifting on and off program (WW) for about two months now, I stopped counting points and journaling and I have been gaining and losing the same pound forever. I have been saying for weeks now that I need to get back on program, but I just haven't followed through with it. Well, something finally clicked this weekend, I woke up Sunday and decided that was the day and I went back on program and journaled, my problem is that I am soooo hungry. I know it is just my body getting back on track from all of the indulging, but my stomach always seems to be growling. I know this will pass in a couple of days, it is just right now I need to stay out of the kitchen, so I am keeping my fingers busy typing. Any advice on how to cope with a growling stomach?

but i'm trying to 'put it off' an hour or so and have lunch! maybe just think like, i'll have a snack in 10/20 mins and then see if you're still hungry, then have a low pt snack!

hot tea??

water!!

hang in there girlfriend!! think of Oprah who said when we have that "grazing" type feeling, that we can either feed it or force our body to burn the fat for fuel. Choose to NOT feed it and make your body burn fat!!

you are not alone!!

You can do it buddy, hang in there!!!!
Lately I have been feeling more hungry, what i found that works is an apple and some water...sounds silly, but I feel full after!
I cut the apple into slices and drink water before and after I eat it...

Good luck, I know you can do it!!!

Well, I don't do WW but I used to. If you REALLY think you need something, do you think a cup of chicken broth might help? Same premise as hot tea, ya know, something hot to fill you up, but tastes like you are actually eating something (without chewing something, that is):D

Keep to your program.....YOU CAN DO IT!!:Pinkbounc :)

Tiggerlover,

The next few days will be the hardest. Strange how that works. Once you do it though, you will feel more in control and able to breeze through the rest of your weight loss. The most important thing is Journaling your points. Without it, you won't be able to know if you are staying within your points or not and it allows you to say.........oh well I can have this.

My theory is that if you are hungry eat. Sit down and think of all the low point snacks you can have. Plan out your day so you eat every few hours.

For instance, I have

2 prunes and a glass of water

Once I get to work I have 3/4 cup Kashi, instant Oatmeal, vitamuffin, bananna etc.

About 10:30am - I have fruit

I have lunch (6-7 points usually)

around 2:30-3:00pm I have another piece of fruit or 1 oz of 2% cheddar and melba toast (3 points total for cheese and melba toast).

If you feel hungry then eat. Just come up with some low point alternatives, and eat a little all day long. Cut your lunch in half and eat it a little now and a little later. Bring a huge salad with some salad beans in it. The fiber will help fill you for very little points. Try some of the 0 point soup ( I personally didn't like it, but other I know love it).

I hope some of these ideas help.

Congrats for getting back on track.

I have found a great snack for times like these. Dannon Smoothies. They are a life saver and not a diet buster! They are made with Splenda and pack a whopping 5g of protien with other nutritional value as well, all for only 80 cals. They arent bad tasting, and they really do hold you over. Even if you have 2/day, it's better than grabbing something full of empty calories. Even fruit can cause a sugar crash, especially if you don't get enough protien in your meals due to severely restricting your calories. Once your body gets used to fewer calories, these pangs of hunger generally subside. Good luck, and remember to start out gradually, cutting out unneccessary calories. Good luck.

Keep the Faith!

Thank you all.

I made it to dinner and now I feel better, I grazed on some vegetable and they held me until we ate. I just hope it doesn't come back again at 9:00 tonight like it did last night.

Melanie, I think you are right, the next couple of days will be the hardest. If I make it through them without giving in I should be okay.

Tracy, I sure wish I could buy those over here, they sound delicious. Thanks for the suggestion.

How about a protein bar of some sort -- but only eat part of it. I have some soy bars and I honestly cannot eat a whole one at once. If I am feeling hungry, I will have either 1/3 or 1/2 of one (they average about 5 points for the whole bar) and drink hot tea while I eat it. I find that the protein curbs my hunger and the tea fills me up!

Congrats for getting back on track !!!

I have found that having lots of veggies to snack on helps the munchies. Also, water fills you up.

Glad to hear you made it to dinner Tiggerlover! Hope that the rest of your evening went a little easier. I'm not on WW but I have found that drinking a LOT of water really helps with my hunger. If I do have a snack I make sure to drink lots of water while I am eating it and that helps me to feel more full than if I had just had the snack. Hope this is a little helpful! Hang in there the first few days will be the worst and then it will definitely get better!:D

Yesterday was hard! I found myself wanting to eat. My stomach was a little growly, but mostly I sat to watch some TV and I eat like some people would smoke just because I need something to do with my mouth and hands. So, I got up and peeled 2 pounds of carrots, ate a few but mostly got some cut up for my snacking modes.

Carrots and water make me feel like I am snacking and staying occupied.
