I am SO excited

I have just booked the flights to take our DD to New York next April for her 16th birthday

I don't know who's more excited - me or her

We have been looking forward to organising this trip for years now and it's finally coming.

Flights with Virgin Flying Club rewards - PE (shame, just not quite enough for UC, which is very frustrating, especially because by the time we've had our August Miami flights we will have - oh well).

So, it's now on with the planning - so any recommendations for hotels, what to see and do would be most welcome.

Great news! I highly recommend the Hilton on the Avenue of Americas; we liked it so much we bought into the Hilton Club timeshare there.

It's in an awesome location within easy walking distance of Times Square, Fifth Avenue and Central Park....and the rooms are spacious and nicely decorated (they were recently refurbished). It's huge and rather impersonal, but you can often get pretty good rates for the club level concierge which is so worth it and would be great for a Birthday trip! The club lounge is a really elegant room on the 44th floor....it has huge picture windows looking over the city skyline and central park and there is a complimentary and delicious continental breakfast, midday snacks and evening Hors d'ouvres and desserts with a cash bar. Really great service, too.
