I had to rent a car through the airport due to the hurricane when I was set back for a day. I ended up renting through dollar, and now am so mad that I want to scream.
I returned the car with a full tank and no damage. I was in the parkade waiting for someone to come and talk to me and inspect the vehicle, and I managed to get a trolley, get my bags out of the car, and search for my receipt (lost it for a moment). When they finally printed the receipt for me, I was eager to get home and to see if my flight was still heading out.
I looked at the receipt tonight and noticed that I got charged an extra $9, of course plus extra taxes, etc. for the useage of the car. The reason? Because I was 6 minutes late returning it. Yep, that's right, 6 minutes! Not only is that a bunch of crap, is it my fault that they were understaffed that day? I don't think so. I am so upset that I want to scream.
Anyways, am trying to contact them, but it's not going very well.
Had to vent.

I have to apologize first for my outburst. Last night I noticed that both the hotel and car company charged me extra, and the bank made a large error in my account that I am extremely angry about money right about now, plus the added stress of the week from the hurricane.
I called Dollar and the lady that helped me was so nice. She said she couldn't believe that the woman who provided me the receipt would have charged me that extra bit of money. I was refunded immediately.

So glad it worked out! I completely understand how you felt, though. It seems like those billing mistakes all come at the same time, doesn't it? I hate it when that happens and I'm on the phone for hours trying to get things all sorted out.

Thanks for sharing your experience--it's a good reminder to all of us to check our statements/bills carefully since mistakes do happen.

I rent from Dollar all the time in MCO since they actually have good rates and few lines, but also use the one in the former Courtyard in Downtown Disney. There I have read several times a memo stuck on the desktop advising the staff that they will no longer offer the 1 hour grace period......

I don't know if they actually stick to it, but it sure sounds like it!
