I am confused about snack credits. I thought it just covered a piece of fruit, popcorn or icecream novelty, but then I just read a thread about best snacks and there were a whole bunch of them. So you can get anything from as little as a bottle of water to a two scoop sundae?:rotfl:

I laugh everytime I read the official Disney brochure. I am sure that Disney would love everybody to just get a banana, box of popcorn, or 22 ounce pop. That would cost them about a dime. When I showed my buddy the list compiled here he just about passed out. Eventually Disney will cut back the snacks to just include a sip at the drinking fountain, but until then enjoy.

On the menu boards you will see a little colored symbol next to the item, indicating it is a DDP item. If there's a question, someone will gladly answer you at the time. A favorite among people here is the MK Main St Bakery Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich. It's Big!

There's a couple places that cover a milkshake for a beverage credit with your meal, I think WCC and '50s Prime Time. Hope someone corrects me if my info is outdated.

Snack credits are also accepted as payment for the small food plates at Epcot Food & Wine Festival. Even the Lobster Roll, which is about $7 OOP.

The official snack list is posted at the top of the Disney Dining Plan Forum, "** The NEW 2012 Confirmed Snacks Thread** Add yours here!"

Pretty much anything under 5.00, I think???

Just an FYI: there is no actual "official" $ amount...the "under $5" is just an average amount that has been noticed by many people reporting on acceptable items. There are food items over $5 which are allowed, but there are also many items under $5 which are not allowed.

AND a big qualifier: the food must be intended to be a single serving item...so a bag of candy for $1.99 which lists "4 servings" on the nutritional info will not be allowed for a snack credit. Ditto a chips bag which says "family size"...Or a loaf of bread in the gift shop which is $2.50 will not be allowed either, since it's plainly not intended to be a single serving item.

DDP items will have the purple DDP logo on menus, and many display racks of snack items will also have the DDP logo on items that are allowed as a snack. But when in doubt, just ask.

crazy isn't it? :) we will be at disney next week and i have a load of *snacks* i want to try that i never imagined would be included on the plan!

I was happy to see the Doh-bars are included as a snack. I didn't get a chance to try them when we were there in September, but I'll be making a special point of getting to Cookes to try one this coming December!

There are tons of options for snacks. We had 18 snacks left over when we checked out so we got lots of prepackaged candies, pretzels, mickey cheese crackers. Lots of the candies were large bags of gummies, sour worms, a bag of 5 twirl suckers. We did find that snacks are different depending on where you are getting them. If you are at POR you can get milkshakes, double scoops of ice cream, and huge sundaes for a snack or your dessert. We were very upset to find that we could not get a caramel apple for a snack.

My all-time favorite snack credit purchase!:wizard:

I looked at the list posted and first wanna give a big thank you to all involved in doing that.

Second I was thinking with my family which is a party of 5 we would do a taste of the World. Rather than get a snack at Epcot we would get 5 or 10(1-2 days) differnt snacks. Everybody would get a taste. Thinking with all the differnt countries we would get to taste a lot of cultures/food this way.

You're welcome! ;)

First time we used DDP in 2005 we only used our SC to get the things mentioned in the brochure. May have been the only options at the time since it was Jan. 2005 which I think was the first month DDP was offered.

And as PP have said the dollar abount (previously anything under $4, now it's more) is only a guideline. Many items are over $4 and approaching $5. And during F&WF every item last year was a SC except for the sundae with Grand Marnier on it-alcoholic. Inc. the lobster items around $7.

And I too lament the end of caramel apples as a SC. I think we got them back in 2010 or it might have been 2009. But even without them there are still plenty of options.

And I find it very interesting that some items are a SC in some parks but not in others. For example Funnel Cakes at EPCOT are still not a part of DDP but they are in MK and AK. That being said I have seen a big change since January of items that didn't used to be allowed as a SC that are. Now all the Coffee kiosks located outside the parks (serving Joffrey coffee) are part of the plan. They used to be exempt.

You can also get soup at many locations but (unless it has changed) you still can't use a SC for soup at CHH. :confused3

Also I recently stumbled across some menus that say the Mini Donuts and Arctic Dots at one of the waterparks are now a SC. I'm assuming they are at the other one as well. I'm still waiting for someone to actually confirm this who has done it just to make sure it is so. If so that makes me very happy as the donuts at TL or BB were the only snack items we paid OOP for on our last trips.

I think eventually all Disney food/snack locations will take the DDP. There are very few left we don't.
