Ok....first of all I just got back from Disney about 2 weeks ago and I am going threw withdrawls!! Big Time! I am ready to go back already, and we are not going for a whole year! Anyway, I am on a mission to decorate my house and of course I want to do each room some sort of Disney theme. Oh, and I want to do something with my front porch (Disney theme of course). We recently put the new porch on, and just finished painting it today. We painted it all white, and my Husband thinks its too white. Help me with this...I was thinking about "trying" to stencil Mickey heads on it. Any other thoughts? I need to find a stencils or stamper. I checked out home depot and they dont sell them at our store. Does anyone know where else I can find them? Or does any one else have any different ideas for the porch? I want to do my living room in all Mickey, my dining room Epcot, and my kitchen I dont know what I want to do with that yet. I need help on where to get ideas and where I can find "nice" Disney decor.

I'm not much of a crafter but could you make your own stencils from enlarging the HD paint heads? You could decoupage Disney stickers/pictures on flower pots. I had someone put together a huge Mickey puzzle for me and I had it framed. Look under the Just for Fun Forum and there's a Creative Community thread that might have ideas.
Sounds like a fun project.

I did look at the Just For Fun board. There really wasnt much there. I know a while ago there were a lot of differnt ideas there, but not anymore. Thanks for the ideas.

The Creative Community is a group of boards dedicated to precisely this type of question - I suggest you post it again there. I'm sure you'll get lots of help. :goodvibes

Hi! I understand how you feel about decorating everything MICKEY, I love him and want him everywhere BUT my not so lovin Mickey Husband doesnt want him thru out my house so I put special touches everywhere (esp during the holidays!!). I like the idea of the Porch in white and if you think its too white you can always give it that worn feel by streaking it, making it look antique is always so nice. I would add accents to the porch instead of painting it directly on any wood.

On Disney's website they have a ton of Summer things on sale... I would start there. They have great chairs, statues and so on. To add a personal touch I would add some flower pots w/ your own decals. If your good at sewing you can make great cushions for the chairs w/ Disney flaire. There are so many things to make it Disney special that once you have the right idea's you can really make things great...

My last suggestion is plan before buying otherwise you might go broke and end up w/ all odds & ends that you dont know what to do with :rotfl:

Oh and I love the idea of Epcot in the DR/ Kitchen.... You can start a collection of glasses from the world, have pictures matted as art work.. Epcot is filled w/ so many great things that adding it to home decor would be really sweet! :yay:

Have fun & ENJOY~

You sound so much like me! Hubby and I returned from a no-kids trip on Sept. 21 and our next trip (both kids and grandmom too!) isn't until Oct 2008. I picked up extra maps @ the parks and am in the process of matting and framing them myself. You can buy matting and frames fairly cheap @ Wal-Mart. I've also Mickey head tie-dyed some white flat sheets (the original idea was for shirts and can be found on the crafts board) that I'm going to make into slip covers for our outdoor furniture, along with the windchimes I made by using a Mickey-head paint chip as a stencil and cutting the pattern out on scrap sheets of colored tin I picked up at a local hardware store for 10 cents per sheet. My bathroom is all Mickey. I don't use the toiletries provided at the hotels, so I brought them home and use them as part of a display on a bathroom shelf. I don't have a lot of extra money to spend on decorating and what I've done so far has been really inexpensive.

Some people might not be up to Mickey everywhere. You might want to decorate rooms (and your porch) in different "themes" to remind you of Disney. You can do an Animal Kingdom kind of room with an African theme. Another room with a Polynesian theme. And so forth.

You can even put in "hidden Mickeys" for people to see ... eventually. :)
