I am never riding Space Mountain again! A Marathon Weekend TR Complete

Nice (although early) start to the half-marathon.

Miles 3 and more!

After Mile 2 you can see the Magic Kingdom toll plaza which gives you another sense of OMG I get to run in the Magic Kingdom! Still no characters that i remember but there was a hot air balloon! I think this was some cool on course entertainment.



I think that shows that anything will get runners excited while on course. Anyways we were getting closer! The Toll Plaza!



The mile 3 marker is just past the plaza and just before where the WDW speedway used to be.



And here just as we got into the parking lot area there was a character meet. I could see in the distance it was Wreck it Ralph and Vanellope! Those were two characters I had never met so I had to stop even though the line was long.



After about 10-15 or so minutes I was running again but not for long... because another awesome meet and greet was up ahead. Oogey Boogey! I am not a huge Nightmare before Christmas fan but he is a rare character so yes had to stop.



After that we were heading into the TTC where a ton of spectators were out holding signs and cheering.



I was just having a blast so far. My time fell a bit of course with two stops during Mile 3 but who cares you're in a Disney race.

Next was a popular runDisney landmark, the water bridge with the DJ with giant Mickey Mouse hands. Only problem is I didn't catch him with his hands up.



We were almost there. Just to put it in perspective but there are two full miles from the toll plaza before you actually reach the Magic Kingdom. Mile 5 is just outside near Space Mountain. Its not the best picture of the mile marker but it will do.



My biggest and only goal besides finishing this half was getting to MK before the sun had come up. Reason you ask? I was to see everything lit up of course! I did it, the sun was not up yet! Lights on everything and I was running down main street! Like that was a surreal moment. I loved running through Epcot but nothing is like running down main street.

I will say though that running down main street is also very very crowded. One side is all spectators and then the running side is packed with runners who all slow down for their pictures and selfies.

Into Tomorrowland we go!



Once in Tomorrowland I was upon another meet and greet that I couldn't pass up. It also didn't have a very long line.



Then there was one of my favorite meets of the race. Uff the mime from Tangled!



Hello from afar Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff!



Look at that crazy crowded main street! I wasn't kidding people. They frowned upon people stopping on the castle ramps for photos due to it being a bottleneck issue.



Finally In Frontierland we hit Mile 6. I am fairly certain Woody was out over here but I didn't stop for that one because of the long line.



And that is where I leave you with this update!

I don't think I passed up anyone else in the first 6 miles but I did pass up a few in the last 7.1.

I think Disney could put out a Disney garbage truck or something and people would get excited.

I will definitely have DH read your TR before he does any Disney runs. That way he will know what to expect. He's not really a character guy and would be surprised about people stopping to take selfies.

People take pictures of everything during races not just characters. As you can see from my photos I took photos of pretty much everything that wasn't just roads.

RunDisney events are some of the most open running events there are. People who you would never think could do a marathon do it.

I really hope he's out there when we are back in January 2017. We did get a shot with Ulf when we ran though and it's one of my favorite ever shots during our races. Yours is wonderful as well!!!

And, there really is nothing like that run down Main Street is there? I love that moment when you burst through the gate and see all those spectators and then you make the turn and see the castle all lit up. It really is magical.

Yes that getting into Main Street seeing the spectators and then turning and seeing the castle is the best experience of the entire race.

I've never run more than a 5k but I am starting a "couch to half marathon" program as soon as this semester is over and we get back from our trip 4/29-5/4. 5/5 will be day 1! I have no idea what I'm getting myself into, but I really want to experience this and the princess half marathon! Your trip and experience looks amazing! Love the photos!
