I am nervous....

Thanks for the link! (Wish it were for our family...but I have a darling grand nephew in need!)

The swim diapers leak like the dickens, so don't let people get to you. Just smile and say she is a prodigy. "Potty-trained at 4 months...aren't yours?"

I'd use it - but I'd also get a little swimsuit for her to wear too - they'll be able to see the bulk under it - and the extra protection from the suit will help with sun exposure = plus little girly swimsuits are CUTE :)

I had something very similiar to this when my DD was younger. http://www.onestepahead.com/catalog...100180&categoryId=100182&subCategoryId=100184

With my boys - I used reuseable swim diapers like yours but had regular swim trunks over it.

Whatever you decide - it's none of anybody's business anyway -As long as you know you're doing the right thing - don't worry about any nasties that may give you a look.

1) I think it would be better to keep her out of the pool.
2) You just don't know the problems created by a "protein spill".
3) Like the old saying goes,
. . . we don't swim in your toilet, so please don't . . . . . . .

I used that kind of a diaper for about eight months with Russ and no one ever questioned it. He only pooped it in once and it was an easy clean-up. But then, I'm already a weird mom for using cloth diapers in regular baby life as well. ;) I've found cloth tends to hold more poop than regular diapers - cloth stuff tends to be tighter on the legs and Russ has chicken legs.

If people give you looks, just tell them it's a diaper. Or tell them she's already potty trained.

As for swimming, she should be fine in the water as long as you don't dunk her.

It should be fine. As others have said when DS was born that was the only option. They do look like little Speedos. We used to put a t-shirt on the kids also if it was real sunny. I think they work just as well as the "huggies" type swim diapers.

I personally found disposable swimmies to be worthless. They didn't hold anything back for my two boys. I found the reusable one to fit better and really do the job.

Who cares what people think tell them to mind their own beeswax that it is an approved swim pant. Most people spend more time worrying about other peoples kids then their own. I think it will be cute and who gives a rip.....sorry if that sounded violent I had a bad day at work. Have fun!!!

It is a swim diaper, just not a disposable one. I don't see the problem.

We had a super cute swim suit for DD that had a bottom like that. I must admit that we did use a swimmy under it in public pools, but mostly just because I didn't want to have to wash it out if she poops. In our back yard I would let her go with out one (just a small kiddy pool.)

Also, getting a swimmy on a 4 moth old can be a challenge, just stick with the one you have if you feel confident in it. The baby isn't going in the water alone, chances our if she is going to do something she is in your arms and you will know in advance and time to get her out.

If you had time before the trip you could let her wear it at a time when she should poop and see how well it contains it and how hard or easy it is to clean up.

Have a great trip. I love SAB.

I saw those at target. They are very cute. They even have some for boys that look like regular swim shorts but they have the rubber piece attached in them.

Personally I would put a diaper on under, not because I care about what people think but because I dont want to wash out poopie diapers:scared:. Dont get me wrong I have had to wash out poopie cloths when those big accidents happend especially when he was around your daughters age but its not something I love doing.

Dont worry about other people, I can tell you that if someone looks hard enough they will find fault with you no matter what go and have fun!

I would just put her in the suit. It probably works a lot better than swimmies that are actually more to make people feel safe than to actually keep poop out of the water. The only think the swim diaper does is hold the solids in. If the kid pees it runs right through. When the kids poop the water goes through the poop and basically all of the "poop tea" comes out. If the kid is in the water, so is at least some of the poop!!!

It's called chlorine people. It's gross, but it is a pool.

It always grosses me out when the kids swim up to the group of moms all standing around (in crotch level water) and pop up and spits a mouthfull of water out!:scared: It's really gross if you think about it, so I just don't.

Have fun at the pool!

I bought a bunch of the Wee Wave sets at the end of season last summer - they have UV protectant matching shirts and hats. Really cute and the whole set was less than $10.

When traveling though, I use a swim diaper because otherwise the suit is a one shot deal - gets dirty and I can't re-use with doing laundry which I don't want to do on vacation.

Honestly, I don't give a fig what people think. I know I am doing the right thing.

No, no....it doesn't look like a diaper. It LOOKS like a bikini bottom but people will KNOW my baby isn't potty trained. I don't want them to think I just have her in an unprotected swimsuit. That is why I was thinking of using a swimmie under the bottom. I don't want to, but I don't want anyone to think I am doing something wrong.

Well kudos to you because at least your asking. There was another thread that had to be locked on this subject. If it keeps the poop then it is fine, try not to worry. AT least your going to let your baby do her business first before swimming. What a very considerate guest, wish they were more like us. :)

I have a 4 month old and we are staying at YC next week for a few days. I just found the most precious USSC (united states swim school) approved swim diaper for her!! It looks like a bikini bottom. I am worried if I use it, I will get "ugly looks"....that has happened before (with my youngest son).

My question is: Do you think I should put on some swimmies under the swim diaper? She actually has a "poop" schedule and there is NO WAY we would go to the pool until she has done her business. I just don't want to get ugly looks, that would hurt my feelings and I couldn't tell everyone that she IS in a rubber swim diaper (it just happens to be covered in cloth and looks cute)..lol. Also, we would ONLY get in the kiddie part of SAB.

Thanks for all opinions and I promise I won't be offended by anything.:)

We are going to be at Disney next week too :thumbsup2 part of the week at OKW and the rest at BC.
What days are you guys going to be there?

I dont see a problem with it if its holding in everything.

That one was about potty trained 2 year olds. Kind of different then a 4 month old. Still I think if the swim pant works I don't see a problem with it. Especially if the mother is in tune with the babies potty needs.

If you're worried about covering her up at all, Old Navy has a eally cute swim suit for infants, and the shirt looks like it had 3/4 length sleeves:

I've gotten shirts like this at Carter's for DD5, and I remember seeing some in baby sizes, too.

Have a great trip!!

ETA: Sorry that's so big. I resized it in photobucket, but it didn't "take." :confused3

Any Mom who has ever used swim diapers knows that they are mcuh less absorbant that a regular diaper...eevrything leaks out of those suckers, and I do mean everything...I am not sure why pools have jumped on the swim diaper band wagon...a normal diaper would do a better job in all reality. The swim diaper is just more comfortable for the baby while in the water because it DOES NOT ABSORB WATER. Anyone see where I am going with this????

:)

"Poop Tea" is cracking me up and grossing me out at the same time!!! Too funny!!! :rotfl2: And so sick and wrong!!

Swim diapers are a total joke. Just something to make people feel better. Rubber pants work MUCH better. If that's what this thing is, I wouldn't worry. I honestly don't even pay attention to what other people's babies are wearing. You know if someone IS paying attention, they'll find something bad to think swim diaper, duck tape, rubber pants and all. ;)

OT: mrzrich, I love Jake Ryan too! Sixteen Candles is one of my all time favorite movies. :happytv: Seeing that picture has just made my day. :lmao: Thanks for the memories.

Back to the topic: I think either option would be fine. I hope that you enjoy your trip to the YC.

Thanks for the input guys!! I feel so much better now.:) I will be at Yacht Club this Saturday so if anyone else will be there, just come right on up and say "hi". I will be the Mom with the CUTEST baby all decked out in a wee wave swim diaper!;) :p
