I am laffing so hard right now

Not sure if its me or not, but are the youth of today spoiled? unprepared for life? Lazy? all of the above?

I teach AP Computer Science to HS students and I have to laff when they complain in my class. I give them a problem to work on and they ask me for the solution when they can't solve it so I give it to them and they have the nerve to complain at the solution to the problem. I mean hey teacher thanks for the help. no they complain about what they receive. I mean hey they are taking the exam not me.I dont know maybe we give them too much cause these kids arent ready for the real word. They complain if I dont give them handouts and when I do they complain about how it is written, they complain when they are late or when I assign HW over the break, or they yell out loud. Stuff we never did when I went to school which was not that long ago. Ahh the youth of today you have to lovem. I think I need to get tougher. Cause they are in for a real shock someday and i hope I am there so I can have a laff at these clueless individuals.

I'm am just today figuring grades for my college level French 4 class here in the high school. Out of 11 kids 3 flunked! They wouldn't do their homework and study. I don't know what they thought they were in for, it is a college class! I wonder how they will be when they get into "real" college?

My sophomores are usually the worst ones to complain.

Did you read about the teacher that quit? She had flunked many students because they had a research assignment and they all turned in plagerized work. When she gave them 0's on the assignments, their parents flipped out, took it to the school board and the school board...get this...BACKED THE PARENTS!!!!! The teacher said that only one parent out of all these kids agreed with the teacher! She said she would never go back to this job, no matter what changes were made because she had lost all authority with these kids (high school age).

I mean these were kids that really knew better. Parents make excuses for their kids mistakes and the kids grow up with attitude that they can do whatever they want.

Yes, many kids today are spoiled rotten.

If my child did that, I can't even begin to tell you the privilages they would lose. And they would accept the 0.

Unbelievable Antnee! I noticed this when I was a grad student coordinator at LSU! We'd give them free lunch so they could socialize with speakers......and they complained about the lunch.

Sad thing is.....I see it now every day at work. I had to talk to someone about being late repeatedly and he said well I have to get things done. Um yeah so don't the rest of us.... He then tried to say how before the schedule was changed he was never late. (Which isn't true anyway) It takes all of my will power most of the time to NOT say to these people.....if you don't like it leave. You're not doing me any favors by staying!

Seems to me some of us may have forgotten what it's like to be a kid? Complaining comes with the territory. We complaind too, you just don't remember.

Having said that, however, there are some kids who really have a strong sense of entitlement and I do blame that on the parents catering to their every need, letting them think they are always right. I work in a middle school and we have so many of the same kids who repeatedly come to school late with no excuse. Unfortunately, our administrators do nothing about it for the most part so it continues. It is a very affluent community and the parents call the shots to a large degree, unfortunately. Yes, times have changed, but there are MANY good, conscientous, respectful, hard working kids out there. We just don't notice them as much.

CRB#33, that was a school district 2 over from mine. Not only did the teacher leave, the principal left too. She did try to work for a week or so, but the kids kept telling her SHE better behave or they would sic their parents at ther again!!!!!

Can you imagine what college boards must think when they get these kids apps? Even if they were of the majority of the "good" kids the school name is tarnished for a long time. What was the school board thinking.

Some of them are certainly all of the above. Some adults out in the "real world" can be described with the exact same words.
