DS and DIL (notice no D) are children are planning to visit my younger daughter in Cleveland on 8/23 for the weekend and she is insistent that her father and I come too. Of course I am dying to go and hoping that DIL doesn't cancel if she finds out we are going to be there. Now then I have just acquired three brugsmania (sp?) from the Park e-mail sale and a lot of plumeria (from my friend on the Gardenweb and 5 others DD bought at Epcot). The brugs need water every single day but cannot take the overbearing sun we have here in Florida in August. The plumeria get watered only once a week at the most but need to be in sun. If i leave them in the sun they will get rained on. If I bring the brugs into the shade they won't get watered. I really can't rely on the neighbors to take care of lugging the plants around and older daughter will be in New Hampshire. She took a leave of absence from her job and will be a camp nurse so DGS gets free camp at a fancy camp. Anyone want to housesit for me. The alternative is to leave the plumeria in the lanai in mostly shade and to put the brugs on the side of the garden that gets some (but little) shade and set the sprinkler system to go off every day (provided that we can figure out how to set it correctly). The brugs look beautiful and I may have cuttings next winter if anybody wants some.

A trip to Ohio to visit your DD sounds nice, Marlasmom. Hopefully your (no D) DIL won't cancel, and you'll get to see your DS also. :)

Really, there is no one close by who you can depend on to take care of your new plants? I know I get a little anxious about my containers when DH and I go away. Even though I've been able to get a friend to look after them, someone a few always get overlooked.

I may have found someone to housesit. If so all I have to do is a thorough scrubbing of the house and buy all new furniture.

LOL!! That's funny and it reminded me of stories that I heard of people who have housecleaners but they clean everything first before the cleaners arrive. I mean, why bother?!

If you do manage to get a housesitter, I hope she takes good care of those plants for you!
