Whoever said buying a car over the internet is so easy can't surely be right can they? I have looked at about 4 dealers and 2 more who I may or may not deal with don't list the inventory on the web. I even looked in another state for the van we want. Well I asked for the quotes for ones pretty close to what we want. #1 - says sorry I don't have it, hello no more effort to get a customer #2 - I don't have it either, is there something else you might want, call me #3 - will you take another color or other options etc. No, I dont want white or red # 4- this is the one that got me over the top today. This place, although far away, seemed to have pretty much what we wanted, color and missing only 1 or 2 options. Well he just e mailed me back and says what are you looking for and he listed a list, but did not quote, one of his options was shopping for the best quote. So I just e mailed him and said yes, I want your best quote. Geesh, this is frustrating. Doesnt anyone out there want to make a nice commission and sell us a nice new van?

Have you looked at cars.com or autotrader.com? I was able to find what I wanted there pretty easily. I even contacted the dealers through them and had no problems that way either. I hope your search gets better!!

Hmm, looks like we Finally might be making some progress. One guy actually e mailed me with a real price quote, unlike the other 3. The sticker is 30,755 and I know it has a $1,000 rebate and he has a quote of 25,554, this includes the rebate. I don't know if this is a good deal or not. We realy need a new van soon, I posted how dh plugged the radiator with bubblegum etc. It has 176,000 miles and was my deceased sisters. So it has had a good long life. The salesperson said he has 2 to choose from. I know from the website they only listed 1 that was blue and a silver one didnt have all the options I think. Does this sound like a good deal?

I just went through this with my DD. We picked up the car yesterday. To see if you are getting a good price go to Edmonds.com. You can plug in the make and model with the options you want and your area code. It will give you the average price that is being paid for that car in your area. We used the internet as well, and really liked doing business that way. There was very little haggling and we got a very good deal. It was below what others were paying for the car in our area. She got a VW bug convertible, I should be that lucky.

A little update and wondering what we should do. I did go to the edmunds site and compared it with the quote the guy gave us. With the tax it works out to about the same price 28,000. The problem is we cant negotiate using another dealer, price etc, since this is the only dealer that has what we want. I am also questioning if another dealer will do the warranty work since the purchase place is so far away. Also saw they have a AAA price. Has anyone every used this to get a good price/deal etc. I dont know if it would be anymore than he quoted us. Any advice? I did read a website about comments on local dealers (who happen not to have what we want), it was just service dept. comments. One said they are too busy and only service cars bought from that dealership, so that is why I am concerned etc.

Where are you from? My DH is a sales manager and sells cars over the internet all the time. He has Lincoln Mercury, Chevrolet, Honda, Volvo brands and preowned also. We are from Eastern NC.

He would love to sell you a new van at an honest price!!
