.....and I will send a free, freshly ground 1/2 pound package of Montana Blend coffee ($5.00 value) from Coffee Traders in Whitefish, Montana, to the first 2 people who pm me first with their name and address!

Is that coffee fresh picked off the southern slopes of Big Mountain? Throw in some fresh Elk milk to smooth out that coffee and I'll bet you get more takers.

Well.....it is fresh roasted in the shadow of Big Mountain.....isn't that close enough???

Oh Pop Daddy, you are too funny. They don't use axes in Montana, they make BOMBS!!

I'm not from Montana, but since vacationing there every year for the past 15 years, we have bought about 50 acres and a log home on a mountain between Butte and Whitehall..::yes::

GREETINGS! I was not sure if there were any 'locals' around here! I have found someone from farther south than Kalispell, but that was the closest! ;)

Yes, and we train our kidlings to be bombers with fire crackers when they are younger! :jester: Do you visit Summer or Winter? 50 acres is a good chunk of land!

It's actually two parcels. They are both in the same "neighborhood". We bought the first one about 10 years ago, and DH built a small shed on it-he calls it his UniBomber shed.;) Then about 6 years ago, he started hearing about a partially built log home that was going into foreclosure, so he kept up with that, and bought it with another 25 acres. They aren't connected, but within hiking distance of each other. They are both surrounded on three sides by BLM land. Six years later, we are still working on that doggone house, but at least now we have electricity and a toilet!!

Are you familiar with Hwy 2 between Whitehall and Butte? Our Post Office is Whitehall, but our house is actually in the Pipestone Pass area.

DH has gone to MT all times of the year. Our neighbors used to laugh at him for camping-yes in a tent- in the winter. I have no desire to ever see snow or cold again-I did my time growing up in Michigan. So I only go in the summer.:sunny:

Wow, such a deal! The Montana Dream: To have property anywhere near BLM land.....Perfect!! :D I am not that familiar with Hwy 2 in that location but DH travels alot with his work, I'll ask him about it when he gets home. Kudos to your DH for being a Diehard year 'round!! I am with you ~ I have had it with the cold. My DH wanted to live and die here.....until he got his blood pressure under control. Now he gets cold in the winter just like me :teeth: Suddenly, retiring farther south is sounding pretty good to him. But, that will be awhile yet..... We have had a wonderful summer, as I think FreshTressa will agree. We had rain into July and everything is much greener this year. We have had haze from Washington and Oregon fires, but none here.....we'll have to keep our fingers crossed!

I've always wanted to visit Montana. I keep saying "some day" when I'm rich:rolleyes: I will be able to travel.

Glad your enjoying your summer. We've had an awful rainy and cool one here in Vermont.

Hope we get lots of snow this winter:D

We heard about all the rain, and our (unmaintenanced) roads sure showed it when we went there in July. On July 3, we were driving into Butte, and we ran into a hailstorm that dropped about 2 inches of "stuff" in about 20 minutes! By the time we were headed back to the house, the ground was almost clear.

I have always wanted to visit Vermont! I have traveled alot with my family growing up, but mostly mid-west and western states. I would love to visit some eastern states sometime. We all have an interest in history and that is another interest in the eastern states ~ that and the view! :)

You are right, the view in Vermont is spectacular! Fall foliage is breathtaking. My birthday is October 4th which is usually right about peak with the foliage. My favorite time of year!!

Not to mention winter and the mountains. Another site to see!

Have a great day!

Gosh, I don't understand what you mean by 'unmaintained roads' in Montana! :rotfl: I guess they had quite a downpour with hail at the State Fair in Great Falls last week. I want to say we have had an unusual amount of precipitation this summer, but, actually, the people born and raised here say this has been more normal than it has been in a long time. They say that before the drought conditions of years past, the state used to get ALOT more rain and snow year 'round. It has been beautiful so far this year....I wish it would be 'more normal' every year!

I live in Washington now, I was just born in Browning and lived in columbia falls until I was in about 4th grade.

Hi mtblujeans :wave2:

My mom lives in Rollins. Not sure where your at, but we spend most of the summer on Flathead! We will be heading back next week for my sisters wedding in Polson. We are also looking for land to (someday) build a summer cabin on. We would love to move there full time, but my DH's industry is here. :( I love everything about Montana, but I think the best thing about visiting is how nice the people are!

 Hi from Duvall :teeth:

I drove through Montana in June - nice state! Other than the fact that we had to strop towing the other car because of your mountains. There's a book festival in October in, ah, Bozeman(?) that I want to go to.

Though, what's the deal with your gas? We were so confused - 85.5 and 88 octane? What's that??

Who cares about the gas! You can go 90 m/p/h on the expressway, and be passed by a cop who won't even look over at you....They now have a speed limit, it's 80, but they used to have a speed limit that said something like "prudent for conditions.."???I know that's not it, what was it mtblujeans??

I think it was basically that if a cop deemed that you were speeding, you got a $5 fine that you could pay directly to the cop. Is any of this true, mtblujeans?

One thing I really love about MT-NO SALES TAX!!
