OK - I set Monday 4/19 as the first day of my healthy life. The last time I weighed this much I was 8 months preg.
I've been back & forth trying to decide whether to follow Weight Watchers or South Beach. I decided on South Beach - it seems easier - no weighing food & counting points. I don't see myself sticking to Atkins. I bought the South Beach DIet book & Cookbook at Sam's Club (total for both about $30). I have read the first several chapters already. I like what I have read so far.
We belong to the Y - about all we use it for is the boys' swimming lessons. So last week while the boys were swimming, I made an appointment to have a trainer show me how to use the equipment properly.
I am in the process of making a shopping list & will go get what I need to get me through the first few days. I am committed to following through the initial phase.

The hardest part is always the beginning - once you get used to your new way of life it will be second nature. I am not on the South Beach plan but many WISHers are so they can give you more plan specific advice but just wanted to congratulate you on your decision to work toward a healthy lifestyle! 
It sounds like you are really committed and are moving forward in your plan to get healthier!! You'll do great!!
