Someone tell me its not so bad....ok we have a big Christmas trip planned for this DEC with all the kids and my parents for AKL CL ...well my sweet daddy had a heart attack (he is fine now thank god) but my parents will not really be able to go they have some new pricey meds and my moms work closed down the other day.We were going to pay for some but we cant pay for everyone (it would be more then 8000.00 ) I am so sad...they are ok with it and said if things get better they will go and stay at a MOD (i will pay) but the big thing is one of my kids was in their room and I had to move to a resort that holds 5 !
We wanted to stick to CL because this is their Christmas gift and they LOVE CL....but we all LOVE AKL more then any other resort. They have a 1 bedroom suite CL but it would cost us double so thats out...We had the choice of GF CL, BYC CL,POLY CL, or CR CL .We chose (let the kids choose) POLY CL. I like the POLY, thats where my dh asked me to marry him but we are going for our 6 yr late honeymoon in april (not CL) .I am also bummed because we really wanted AKL...their is nothing like waking up and seeing those animals!I also am unsure about how the christmas deco looks at poly at Christmas...can someone please tell us it will be great? lol We love the AKL CL lounge and our scared the POLY lounge just will not be as good.:sad1: If my parents can go I will get them a onsite resort (they will not let me pay to much:sad2:) but I do have a 40% code good for most of the year. The CL is what the kids wanted so its their Christmas....

Well, I'm happy for your Dad that he is now ok. ::yes::

We've stayed at the Poly's Concierge level and it was very nice. I can't imagine anyone not being happy with what is offered there.

Well, if it's the kids' Christmas present, and the kids' choice, and they chose Poly....how much choice do you really have? I've done both CL's, and both are wonderful. You say there is nothing like waking up and seeing the animals at AKL? Well, there's nothing like going into the lounge and sitting in front of that huge window and eating breakfast with the castle view. I love both CL's at AKL and Poly--but do prefer Poly.

Any reason you can't stay at Poly with the kids in December, and you and your husband go to AKL in April?

Want someone to tell you how great it will be at Poly? Oh, it will.

I am sure its nice...we are just AKL people ya know.... lol I am hoping we love it as much as akl ...maybe being on the monorail will make us really enjoy it...MY dh and I are going in April to the poly with just are youngest (the other two will be away with other parents) and I am thinking that come Dec when we have 3 kids to keep up with at wdw that the POLY will be good because of being able to jump on the monorail and not have to get everyone in the car every morning! lol
I think my biggest worry is I love how the AKL is all decked out for Christmas with the giant tree and I do not know if I remember how the POLY was at Christmas...we still want that Christmas feel....:goodvibes

What about renting points from someone? You may be able to get a good deal that will fit your budget and your parents.

Glad your Dad is OK!

For Christmas?? At this late date??? Not going to happen. Sorry. Nothing will be available. Especially for AKV Concierge level.

I guess you need to decide if its more important to stay at a particular resort or if it is more important to spend the holiday with your parents. I am not trying to sound harsh ( I know that sometimes a post can come off that way) but if it were me, I would trade CL in a heartbeat to be able to have my grandparents with me for Christmas at Disney. :goodvibes

As the PP said, you could look into renting points from a DVC member so that you can all stay at AKL. You could rent enough points (by spending far less than $8K) to get a two-bedroom savannah view room with TONS of space for everyone at AKL.

Just my opinion, good luck on your choice.

I dont want to stay in a villa..I prefer just plain ol AKL...and I am not trusting enough to rent points lol

Its NOT ABOUT staying CL...they were not staying CL...they had just a reg room....they have alot of med stuff going on right now and all kinds of meds my dad has to take...its not just the cost..they would not let me pay for their whole trip,I told them I would but this is heart attack number two so I think that is why they may not go.If they decide they want to go I will book later for a resort they choose and prob try to pay for it.The reason we had to change resorts and that I am bummed is because now we have 5 in the room so I had to go with a place that fit 5.We will NOT be there ON christmas...my Christmas will always be spent with my parents.

I almost called and switched to AKL for april BUT this is our long awaited honeymoon (didnt have one) and my dh asked me to marry him on the beach at the poly after dinner one night sooooo thats why I have not switched. I think we will like it...I mean it IS wdw right? I guess I am more bummed for the kids in DEC because they love AKL ...I think they will love being in a resort on the monorail though.

I was at the POLY for meals the last two or three Decembers and found their Christmas decorations a big disappointment compared to other places.... I am an AKL fan as well but have also stayed at POLY. Personally if I wanted decorations I would stay at BC or BWI. If I wanted monorail, I would stay Poly. If I wanted animals I would stay AKL. Club level to me doesn't make much sense. If I can afford club level I can afford to eat whatever I want where I want - I wouldn't pay extra for the CL offerings. Just me - never understood CL.

The kids just LOVE the CL lounge...they like to go up and get drinks and snacks ect..makes then feel like that are doing something special lol hey it doesnt bother me...I use a 40% off pin and its worth it with that...now no way would I ever do CL without the pin.maybe we will just bring some of our own christmas stuff to make it feel more christmas like....we could not do alot at AKL because it bothers the animals but I think we can do lights and stuff in our room or a wreath on the balcony...its starting to look better! lol
I just worry when I see so many people say how old and outdated it is..

Take a look at the thread titled... Holiday Edition: The Everyday Adventures Of The Purple Van

I don't know how to link the thread to this post. Can anyone tell me how to do it?

There are holiday pictures for all the resorts. So pretty!!! Hope this helps you out with the picture question.

can someone please post a link to some christmas photos of the poly? even room deco that you bring from home...

well I am thrilled, the plans got switched around and now my parents can go so I called today to see if AKL CL was still there but they said no BUT the guy put me on hold and talked to GS and asked them to open a room with my code so we were able to switch back to AKL CL! :cool1: We are so happy! I know it is strange to move from POLY CL to AKL CL but that is our very fav place and the kids are soooo happy! I am glad we will be at AKL for christmas now...

I'm really happy for you, mostly because your parents can go! How nice to have 3 generations there on vacation! :cloud9: I know what you mean about AKL CL -- we were there for 3 days last April then switched to Poly CL for 7 -- but we really wanted to do a 5/5 split -- I really missed AKL for the first few days -- it's such a special place!:goodvibes

This will be a great trip! My dad was almost not here to go (because of his heart attack) so I am so happy that we will all be there together....I know alot of people saying traveling with the inlaws is bad BUT we love to travel with my parents, they dont complain or make problems....we are really close.

We love to travel w/ family. We haven't been to WDW by ourselves in 8 years. We took my parents and brothers family w/ us last year. And we created yet another Disneyholic family. They all can't wait to go back.

Glad to here everything worked out for you. Way to spread the disnsey Magic!
