Yep! Every trip! My best advice is to make a list. Keep it with you so when you think, "Oh, I have to remember the shortcut" you can jot it down.

I make a one sheet "day planner" for each day of our stay. It has the 'game plan" and all the little tips for each ride/area I have found here and learned from past experience. Mind you "one sheet" means full on both sides. I even use the text box feature on MS Word to write in the margins. (Mostly the bus info. Really!!)

I include general park information (hours, parade & fireworks times), any ADRs and a short list of the restaurants we will be near close to lunch and dinner times. That way we save time & hassle trying to figure out what kind of food options are readily available.

My biggest nightmare is forgetting the "day planner"..

And what if I forgot to put something on the "day planner"?????

I ALWAYS forget everything or manage to leave the list in the room when we hit the parks! My next trip I'm gonna email the list to myself so I can save it to my BlackBerry. With any luck I won't lose my phone! (Especially since I'm planning to use it for the Lines App)

My daughter just last night asked me how we were going to remember everything that I have hightlighted in the guide books, I told her I have notes in my binder and will take the binder with us...NOW if I just rememeber to pull the info out when I need it for that day...In the past tho, I pull out the next day info and keep it by my bag and go over it before bed and then the next morning...enjoy your trips

yes, usually the last month before I leave is full of anxiety.
So worried about...EVERYTHING!

Or worrying that someone is going to get sick or injured. whether on vacation or beforehand.

I'm trying to keep calm this time around...it's going to be a pretty low key trip to begin with, so hopefully I won't be doing too much freaking out this time.

I don't even take any of that stuff with me - books, info, etc...
I always remember it, even if I think I won't.

Okay, I'm really relieved I'm not the only one who missed this tip. I know about the coffee, the best spots for parades & fireworks, etc., but I haven't heard anything about AK shortcut.

For those of us not in on the secret, I've done some searching.
From what I've found, the shortcut is not in AK, but a driving route to AK. If I'm wrong, someone please correct me.

If you forget something, ask a cast member for advice! They are great about helping you find a great spot for the parade or giving you tips on touring, etc.

Just went back through my "tips" sheet I made for myself and this is what I have....."Secret" entrance at AK. It's just through the back of the Rainforest Cafe.

I make a 4x6 index for each park with notes on it for this kind of stuff. I read it the night before we go to that park and pull it out a few times a day. It really helps

I think that planning this trip is becoming a full-time job...or at least a part-time job. Thank goodness I work from home!
