As I was just reading through another "renters rights" thread, it occurred to me (ok, so I am a little slow) that I am a renter. We are leaving for WDW tomorrow and staying at Bonnet Creek that evening and the following Friday night. I rented the reservation from a very nice lady over on the TUG boards.

I did not 'know' this person like I know the DIS people. She is a stranger. And yet

1. I received a contract that we could both agree on and I sent her a check (thank goodness no PayPal stuff). I trusted her, she trusted me
2. I made absolutely no room requests. This is not my resort, I don't feel that I have any right to "The Best Room".
3. I never even called the resort to check if it was in my name. Never even occurred to me that this person would cheat me.
4. One of the reservations had my name misspelled. Did I flip? No. Just asked her if it would make a difference, she said no, I was fine. No sleep lost.
5. And this kind lady got me a 2 bedroom for the same price as the 1 bedroom was. I wonder. Had I been a "high maintenance" renter, would she have been so kind?

Some may call me too trusting, but look what I got for it! If it doesn't work out as well as I think it will (as well as I am trusting it will), I promise I will come back and tell all.

I forgot to say that she told me the price and I did not ask her to lower it.

.

VERY good points! Perhaps you saw one of my statements on the other thread:
I usually think a person who distrusts is probably also not trustworthy.

Have a great time, and I hope you do report about your experience.

What DVC resort are you renting?

She's renting over at the Fairfield Bonnet Creek Resort for two nights (higher points nights at DVC). It sounds like she has "bookends" at Bonnet Creek.

Bookends, that is a great way to describe the 'escape the lower points' weekends!

Yup. Stayed this past Sat night. My kind renter did not 'rip me off'. Quite the contrary, she not only got us the 2 bedroom upgrade, she also got us a wonderful view (which we did not ask her to do) and she got us an early check in on Friday.

While we are talking about Bonnet Creek, I have to make a comment.
That is one beautiful resort. And what it lacks in magic, the beauty more than makes up for it. I would rent there again in a heartbeat (along with our 'Beloved Wilderness Lodge' ):thumbsup2

I'd like to hear more about Bonnet Creek. What specifically was so beautiful about it? We drove through there in March, and it seemed a big bland from the road, but that can be deceiving.

I agree, from the road it is very bland. Ugly actually! But the exterior of the buildings is very upscale. Like a very nice hotel. But the rooms are what was so beautiful. They are very large and the decorations and furniture are beautiful. We stayed in a 2BR. The 2nd BR was a normal 2 queen size beds and the bath was what you would expect. The MBR was king bed with a large dresser and the master bath was huge and had a very large Jacuzzi and a very large walk in shower. The colors were beautiful throughout. Beautiful window treatments. Throughout the villa there were lovely silk flower arrangements. And vivid colored prints on the walls (pictures).
The living room had a very large leather sofa and large leather chair. The kitchen had a beautiful bar with really nice chairs around it (3). Great lighting also. But the dining area. That is what I loved the most. Instead of the teeny tiny (do I sound like Richyams???) table with the 4 chars (that we have in a 2 BR here at BWV and have had at a 2 BR at VWL that should be bigger) it had a very long table with 6 large official dining room chairs. That was wonderful. And a buffet against the wall. I have to say, I would have no problem staying there again. Hope this helps.
