Grilled cheese is the best when made with butter instead of margarine~all my life I kept wondering why they tasted better in restuarants~I honestly had no idea

Well, now you know. :teeth:

Congratulations on your new discovery!

May it bring you new heights in the world of cooking!:p

If you spray butter flavored Pam on your pan or griddle it will taste just like butter, but without the fat! My family can't tell the difference.

my favorite part is how crunchy the toast is now ~before they were soggy

When I was out of town, my DH, a very talented neurologist, but NO Emeril, tried to make "grilled" cheese sandwiches for the kids in the microwave.

They were AWFUL (according to my 11-year old budding food critic daughter)  . . .

I told him that sometimes, you actually have to turn on the STOVE and COOK something, instead of microwaving it . . .

sadly I will probably gain 10lbs now eating these darn things at home

Yum...I love grill cheese...
There is something in Paris that is actually better, grill cheese with ham that melts in your mouth. Called a Croane Monsieur or SOMETHING like that  ! Anyone know what they are correctly called and how to make them??? It's been awhile since I had one.

Bibbidibobbidiboo, I think it's croque monsieur

LOL!! I was about your age when I actually tasted a PB & J!!! (I am 36 now)....I really don't care for them!!!

My kids prefer the "cheating" way to make grilled cheese (or, in our words a "cheezy weezy").....I toast the bread...spread with butter (or margarine;) ) put 2 slices of cheese on it and stick it in the microwave for 20-25 seconds.

It's funny....They told DH they wanted a "cheezy weezy" and he made it on the stove....and they HATED it!!!! They wanted it the way "mom makes it".....kinda funny.......

Use monterey/jack cheese to make it even better. I just discovered this a few weeks ago and I'm 34! :):Pinkbounc

THAT'S IT! I knew I was off a bit on the name:o !
Thanks for the recipe, will give it a whirl!:D

Deb, Your story reminded me of a funny story. Years ago my ex made a grilled cheese sandwich for my then 2 year old daughter. He was so pleased. I wasn't. He made it in a sauce pan......yes a sauce pan......and left it for me to clean. Man What a mess!!
He will never live that one down ;)

Try making a grilled cheese by spreading mayo on the bread....so much easier to spread than butter and the color is just really nice too!! And after all, it's just.... ummmmm.... GREASE anyhow!!!!!

:D :D :D :D

This reminds me of my DS when he was about 3. I asked him if he wanted a grilled cheese sandwich. He said "No, I want a boy cheese sandwich." Apparently, he thought I said girl cheese. To this day, I have to cut out a face in his "boy cheese" sandwich to make it look like a boy. :D :D
