...and I am so glad I did!
In 03 I dined at Le Cellier and liked it, didnt love it, but it was a good meal. In 04 I tried Yachtsman Steakhouse for the first time and was WOWed by it. If anyone has ever seen my posts since then you would know I always rave about YSH, and say I wouldnt go back to Le Cellier after dining at YSH.
Well, after dining at YSH last summer with no more prime rib and no more horseradish potatoes(my 2 favorite items on the menu), and the spinach wasn't as creamy as it had been in the past, I wasn't as WOWed by it anymore. When planning our recent trip I knew we were doing Ca Grill on our anniversary, so I was trying to stay away from another signature meal. Seeing how Le Cellier is one of the very few restaurants that offers prime rib, which is my favorite cut of beef, I decided to give it another shot.
We almost didnt make it as we originally booked for 2, but then Grandma who was supposed to come along and watch the kids that night cancelled so we had to add our 2 kids to our party, which was impossible in the months leading up to the trip. We were able to walk up to the podium earlier that day and ask if we could add 2. They accommodated us no problem.
Upon dining we were more than happy with the meal and service. Everything was wonderful! The only thing I would say I prefer at YSH now is the rolls and garlic over the pretzel bread at Le Cellier, but thats not what I choose a steakhouse on.
So, I have to retract my years of saying Le Cellier doesnt hold a candle to YSH in that never ending "which is better" question. I was wrong and I would definitely go back to Le Cellier, probably before YSH again(unless they bring back the prime rib).
