Yes, it is true. I accosted the Home Depot guy. One minute we were talking tumbled marble, and in one, fatal slip...he mentioned he was going on a Disney cruise for his honeymoon. I can't even remember how we got from tile to cruise...it happened so fast. And before I knew it, I was all over him like peanut butter on jelly. "Are you familiar with the DisBoards?" "Do you know what a Surial Bath is?" "Do you have your packing list already written out?" The answer to all his questions was sadly, "No."

Now I ask you...how could I let that poor soul out of my grips without arming him with some of the most useful knowledge EVER!

So, I took out my little memo pad and started jotting down websites...disboards.com, dave's tribute site, barb & tony's site, the Magical guide, my email address....and so much more...

I couldn't stop. I was like a crazed woman.

And when we were done, he had 7 or 8 little memo pad note sheets, and I had a sample of Travertine Chiarro tumbled marble. :)

And if his fiance' ever happens to wander onto these boards. WELCOME Becka! Tell Matt that the really excited couple and their daughter say , "Hi! And thanks for all the help!"

(This ever happen to anyone else?)

OMG...I do the same thing! I was called for Jury Duty and while we were waiting to be called into the courtroom we started talking. Someone mentioned a DCL vacation and I COULD NOT STOP!
Along the same lines...a co-worker was going to Scotland for 3 weeks. I asked here where she was going to be staying/doing (she went with a tour) and SHE HAD NO IDEA! OH THE HORROR!
How can you NOT research, plan, research, and plan some more??? WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE??? (gee, you don't think it might be me who has a problem????Do you??)

Do we have to start a 12 step program?

I was thinking of printing business cards with site addresses on the, because of the number of times I have been in the same situation...

I was recently horrified to find out that a close friend was going on a cruise with her family (including 10 and 14 yo DSs), and had NOT wanted to sail on DCL!!! The nerve!

Of the 14 family members she is planning to travel with ONE smokes and wanted to gamble. If there wasn't smoking inside, and slots and blackjack -- she (her sister) didn't want to come. Too bad for the 6 kids that will be on the cruise. They are going Carnival. Blech!

It's truly a sickness, you know...

I've done the business card thing! I keep a little pile of them in my desk drawer at work. It's amazing to me how many people have either been on a DCL cruise or are thinking of taking one!

I have my pictures on my computer as my ever-changing wallpaper, and it always starts a conversation.

My boss went on a cruise last summer (I think it was Celebrity) and had an awful time due to a variety of circumstances, not all of them having to do with the ship. He told his wife he'd never cruise again.

He's trying now to pick a time for their DCL cruise!

Worse yet is when you tell someone you were on DCL they say "so you were on the Big Red Boat".

ROFL!!!!! I can see it happening.
I was in physical therapy this past winter and my therapist mentioned she was planning her honeymoon...to WDW! Oh, I was all over her. She didnt really know much so I gave her this website and told her about Dreams Unlimited and how they plan everything for you, etc... I had to explain about Fast Pass because she thought you had to pay for it, and about booking PS, and that is was ok to split your stay between 2 reosrts(a travel agent she was working with told her she couldnt do that:rolleyes: ). Boy, I miss therapy!:D

Scott H, yes! We told soemone we had gone on it and she said oh I went on the Disney Cruise about 10 years ago. We said no DCL is new, you must mean BRB. Oh no, it was a Disney Cruise. :D

I'm glad I'm not the only one!!! I'll tell anyone who will listen how wonderful all of our DCL vacations have been. I keep thinking DCL should hire me for a PR position!

lots of people I work with always come to me with questions because they know that we have been on cruises, but I did basically the same thing to my dental hygenist.

ha. I thought I was the only one to do this kind of thing!

When we cruised in April, I made up lanyards with customized inserts for our DIS Board cruisers -- we had 100 or so lanyards in our 'gang' of cruisers. Well, people started asking me questions in the port -- and more people came by and I spent the entire time waiting to board answering peoples questions ---- GEE, they thought that I was working for DCL when they seen the lanyard -- so they just kept on asking the questions. Ofcourse, thanks to these boards -- I probably new more answers than a CM would! (lol)
;)

Maybe it is time that DCL has an official DISBoard reception. Or, one of us could teach a DISBoard "class" on each cruise. I'll take the next one!!

We3 have never been on a Disney cruise, but our first will be in less than 2 weeks and we are soooooo excited. We have read all post on the DCL forum and trip report boards. Anytime we3 head for "The World" we ALWAYS research, no matter how many times we have been.

At work, I am actually known as the "Disney Guru". If anyone has any questions concerning Disney they come and see me. I have park maps, transportation guides, Downtown Disney maps, etc in my top desk drawer. We are more than willing to help anyone plan their trips. I can't tell you the number of times that I have written out the following letters ---- www.wdwinfo.com

HEHEHEHE Glad to hear I wasn't the only one. But I think it is rare that you find a subject that when mentioned, you immediately go into "information overload" about.

Do you think there is another forum board out there for people...
"Help! This hyperactive lady just attacked me at my place of work just because I mentioned our vacation plans."

that has happen to us people just dont know can u believe that
then we have to tell them that disney has 2 ships ............
what a deprided life they must live....

We don't go until 6/22, but I've already given several people at work the info and this site. I don't understand people who just buy tickets and go... not having any idea about planning being half the fun.
I do like surprises-never tell me about gifts before they are opened-but knowing our options on a trip makes it more fun.

LOL! Yes, I've done this a number of times. I wouldn't print up cards, though... it would peg me as a bit too much of a fanatic. But I usually carry business cards with me anyway and end up writing down the URL's for disboards.com, castawayclub.com, and dcltribute.com.

I did the same thing at the American Tourister store at the mall about a month ago. There was a picture of a cruise ship on the wall behind the cash register and I mentioned that the bag I was buying was for our first-ever cruise. The sales lady said that her boyfriend was planning their first cruise for June and it was a Disney Cruise! I asked her if it was on the Magic or Wonder (she didn't know) so I asked if it was a 3, 4, or 7-night cruise. She thought it was for 7 nights, so I asked which ports they were going to, to find out if it was Eastern or Western. She didn't know. Egads!!!!!!! She told me the date of the cruise so when I got home I checked it out on disneycruise.com and saw that she'd be on the Eastern cruise. I had to know, even if she didn't!! Oh, the horrors of not planning! :) Planning is half the fun!

Anyway, I gave her the wdwinfo site, along with Dave's site, Barb and Tony's site, disneycruise.com, etc. She is probably still talking about "that crazy lady" who came into her store and wouldn't shut up after Disney Cruise Line was mentioned! :)

we're known as disney freaks, and my mom is the disney nazi....lol :p
my best friends family went to WDW a couple of months ago, and they asked my mom for info about it. since they were only going for a short period of time (we go for about 3 weekd, so less time than that always seems to us to be not enough time....lol) and they hadnt been there for years, they asked my mom to help figure out a plan of action. my mom typed up a 7 page guide to the parks, saying what to do first, wut not to miss and wut not to waste there time on. it is now being passed around from family to family. everyone goin to disney in our comunity wants to get his hands on my moms masterpiece......:D we were so happy when they came back all excited from their trip. i love it when ppl love disney as much as i do! :)

I was AMAZED at the number of people who would say..."Disney Cruise, huh. That's the Big Red Boat, right?" Do These people NOT watch TV? Do they not send away for their Magical Disney Cruise Line Vacation Video? Help me understand THESE kind of people!

bubblemutant....I think I am your mom's long lost sister. I do the same things. I am known around our kid's school, at work, and the neighborhood as that "Disney" lady. I lend out my videos and brochures to anyone who asks!

I am always helping people plan their trips to WDW and DCL. Whenever I hear of anybody talking about cruises or DCL specifically, I chim in and tell them all I know!!!! Most people appreciate it, but I am sure some think I am off my rocker!!!

I was in a store one day and I saw a woman with a Castaway Cay t-shirt on....I hesitated...then asked my husband if I should ask her about her trip....he just looked at me. By the time I was about to ask her, she had left.

The majority of people out really don't have a clue about DCL.

:) Ahhhh.... people after my own heart. Since I came back from college program in '99 I am now the official vaction planner for my entire family. They come to me with all their ???s and leave hours later, filled with Disney knowledge. It has spread so far that my mother's friends call me and people from my fiance's work will ask him to ask me stuff. I was thinking I was the only one, so this is nice to hear. :) :) The funniest was the christmas season that I worked at the Disney store and people would have ??'s and the other CM's would automatically send them to me. There was one woman who came in a second time to talk to me to get more info and when she found out I wasn't there asked when I worked again so she could come back and talk to me specifically!!!:D :) :earsboy: :earsgirl:
