I 75 construction

The construction on i 75 in detroit is now finished. :cool1:

So does that mean there is direct access off the bridge to I-75 SOUTH now? Cause a month ago, they were still routing us to I-75 NORTH then we had to turn around at Rosa Parks Blvd.

Would love confirmation of this since we'll be heading over to the states to shop next week! :lovestruc

Did my own research and found out on the MDOT website that there is a dispute regarding the ramps:

The delay in opening these ramps is a result of the Detroit International Bridge Company’s (DIBC) refusal to construct its portion of the Gateway Project in accordance with the design agreed upon by DIBC and MDOT, with the approval of the city of Detroit, Federal Highway Administration, SEMCOG, and concurrence by GSA, U.S. Customs, and U.S. Homeland Security. The parties entered into several contracts that identified the various structures, roads, and ramps that each party would construct to directly connect the Ambassador Bridge to the interstate highways and remove truck traffi c from local streets. While MDOT has honored these agreements, DIBC has not. This divergence from the agreed upon plan by DIBC makes it impossible for MDOT to open the new ramps.
Currently, MDOT is pursuing its legal rights in Wayne County Circuit Court to resolve this problem. Until the court acts, or DIBC decides to honor its agreements, the ramps cannot be opened to traffic.

So, I guess this answers my original question.....sure hope they resolve this before our trip end of January.....the detour is such a pain!

Disney Freak,

I saw new construction near the Ambassador Bridge area, so can't tell about it. Just that I-75 to I-94 and vice versa seems to be smooth. :goodvibes

:cool1: Thanks for the update as I'm getting ready to do my x-border holiday shopping and was planning not to stay anywhere near Farmington, Southfield or Novi because of it.

Anybody know what the construction is like all the way down to FLorida. Were heading out in less than a month and are thinking of several routes. It all depends on weather. Construction is the next factor.

Just went stateside yesterday and sure enough, there is no direct ramp to I-75 SOUTH yet.....so once again, we were routed onto I-75 NORTH (straight off the Ambassador Bridge) and took the next exit which was Rosa Parks, crossed over and circled back.....easy enough but still a pain! :headache:

Check out this link http://www.i75exitguide.com/construction/index.php
It lists the states you'll be driving through from Michigan to Florida and all their construction.
Hope this helps! :flower3:
