We just got back from our trip to Disneyworld, we drove from Illinois, staying 1/2 way overnight. Each leg of our journey, going down and coming back was longer than our previous years.

There was so much road construction, traffic, and accidents, we were delayed each day. We were stuck in traffic right between Atlanta and Macon for 2 hours. Each leg we were stuck in something or another.

Allow extra time and stay safe! There was so many accidents!

In recent years, traveling "off hours" (nights and weekends) through GA in I-75 was a good idea to avoid traffic. Right now, you can count on reduced lanes or even entire hiway closure (some weekends at the new 17th street bridge construction in downtown Atlanta) during off hours. Your best off between 5AM and 9PM on weekdays.

You can make it though on off hours - you'll just likely hit delays. It is good to note that they usually do not work on Holidays.

Here's a good link for up to date info before you leave home:

We'll be heading down this route in 11 days. we hope to hite 24-75 sometime after midnight and drive straight through.

How was the weather when you drove down? Do you have any suggestions for the drive down.

I'd also like to now the best roads to take once you hit Florida.

I think you'll be o.k. for travelling after midnight. We spent the night in Dalton, GA. It's right over the TN/GA border. What I always try to do it to buy a couple new movies for the kids, we have a tv/vcr we bring with to plug into the lighter. We also bring a bag of extra goodies, coloring books, snacks and stuff, we keep it hidden and every couple hours take out something new. We try to eat 1 meal at McDonalds or something so the kids can play. We also stop at the first rest area in Florida for a picnic. This is also where you can get tons of brochures and free o.j.

We usually take I-65S in Indiana, I-24W then I-75S. We then take the Florida Turnpike to I-4 W to Disney area. You can count on at least another 3 hours in the car once you cross over the border of GA/FL.

Have fun! Be safe!
