Hypothetically speaking - would you go into outer space?

DH & I were just discussing this (yes, we have weird conversations).

If you were of a proper age/health/etc. to qualify for astronaut training would you?

(He would in a minute...NOT me. I'm somewhat claustrophobic. Besides, I like to see THINGS when I travel.) :lmao:

No way...I'm scared of Mission space and you don't even leave the ground. Not on my bucket list:crazy2:

Heck, no! I get dizzy standing at the top of the stairs. There is NO WAY I allow myself to be flung into space on a rocket! I'd be Howard Wolowitz screaming, "Mommy! Mooooommmmmeeeeeee!"

In a second.

Hilarious to read this thread :lmao: DH's and my first "big" fight as young newlyweds was over whether or not he'd be allowed to ride the space shuttle! Good memories - thanks :goodvibes.

Yes, if I was properly of age, health, etc.

I just wish they would figure out gravity in space. Now THAT would be awesome.

Absolutely!!!! In a second.

One of my biggest disappointments in life is that I don't qualify to apply as an astronaut candidate.

ETA: I don't think I'd be up for a long duration space station assignment, though. Several months in space in a really small living area has to get a little old.

Before I had kids I would have said yes. Now, I would definitely say no. It's too risky and scary.

I have had this conversation with my dad when I was very young.

I said I wouldn't go simply because it was too dangerous.

My dad said he would go even if he would die for sure. He said to experience the out space and to die in such a glory way made it all worth it.

That conversation actually changed the way I look at my dad. I had much more respect for him from that point on. (Not that I didn't respect him before)

However, it hasn't changed my decision. I am still not going. LoL

I didn't even like being confined to a cruise ship, so there's no way I could spend months in a tiny space station.

Most definitely, but only a short assignment. Wouldn't want to be out there for long. But yeah, what's life without the experiences?
